I honestly really like the Goodfoot, and have been going there for years because I live right down the block. However, after last night Im not sure I will go back, at least not to the upstairs part. My friends and I were sitting at a table and we got up to play pool. In the meantime some girl left her purse and coat at our table on top of our coats and purses and when we moved to a booth we accidently took her stuff with us. About 15 minutes later this girl and her boyfriend approached our table with a staff and proceeded to yell at us and accuse us of stealing her stuff. Then, the boyfriend actually PUNCHED my friend (a 110 lb girl) in the arm. The staff did absilutely nothing even though she was standing less than one foot away. We had to get up and intervene ourselves to tell the couple it was an accident. When we asked to speak to her and the manager about the incident, they did not apologize or ask if we were ok. They actually said that the guy was a regular and we shouldnt have taken their stuff. They were so unbelievably rude and disrespectful I was shocked. It was this girl with chin length curly hair and glasses and the manager......I think named AJ. They really could not have cared less about what happened, and made it very clear that they were ok with people punching their customers as long as they are regulars. Its too bad because I really like the goodfoot and want to go back, but after being treated so poorly I dont know if I can stomach it. Hopefully it was just a fluke.....

I am not in love with the Goodfoot as some people are. There are some people that speak of the Goodfoot as an almost holy place. Its a bar. That has some pool tables and plays music. Ok, now that thats off my chest, lets talk about it honestly. The Goodfoot is really two bars in one. Upstairs is a bar, hangout, with some pool tables and seating. It can get crowded, a bit too many Portlandia cliches and ironic facial hair, and bad art, but it is an oasis on Stark that makes living in the area ok. Upstairs has nothing to warrant my hanging out there, other than when you get there just at opening, youll get a good pool table, and a cold one. Downstairs is different. Its a lounge/bar, with live music or djs and people who usually are there for the music and not to hit on people. Covers are reasonable, and the line up changes, youll find posters plastered all over Buckman, or look online for whos playing. It can take a while to get a drink, and theyre not necessarily going to impress you, but they will quench your thirst and loosen up your booty for some shakin action.

When I think of a superb Friday night, it will likely involve stopping by the Goodfoot Lounge for Soul Night. A full evening of hits from Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations and James Brown will always have me out in the middle of the dance floor singing my lungs out, as embarrassing as that may be. Soul Night is hosted in the downstairs portion of the Goodfoot every Friday and it feels as if you’re in the basement of some super funky house party. Especially with the dim lighting and low ceilings. It sounds creepy but it’s somehow so spectacularly awesome. Keep in mind that it does get pretty hot down there, especially during a busy night, but nothing that some of their jumbo fans can’t fix. The line at the bar does get backed up quite a bit too but I’d say the cheap (and stiff) wells make it worth it. Another thing I love about Goodfoot is that there’s always such an interestingly diverse group of people there. So if soul music isn’t your thing, at least go to people watch!

I love this place for the sheer fact that there IS a crowded dance floor and a diverse mix of people. Most people seem friendly. I dont know why some of the reviewers of this venue complain of it being crowded... why go somewhere that isnt?? What the hell kind of fun is in that? If you are looking to have a good time with a ton of people who just wanna dance all night to decent music, then check out the goodfoot. Despite the fact that I do think the staff pour really weak drinks (even more so if youre not looking, like upstairs when they serve you a drink at a table). I could tell the difference when I watched the bartender actually pout the drink how much pineapple juice was in there. The 2nd drink served at my table was basically all juice with a splash of vodka. Drinking and cutting a rug all night dont go that great together unless you have an iron stomach any way, but other than skimping on the drinks and the sorta pretentious staff, great place!

My only complaint is the bathroom. But, it was bad enough to warrant a one star review. The sink was full to the top with fetid water and a five gallon bucket sat beneath, also overflowing. The stench of sewage and urine was like a physical force pushing against you as you tried to quickly get in and out. No hand washing + lots of drunk people + filthy conditions = disease vector. The owners need to spend some money and take care of this.

I love this place for one thing only FUNK/SOUL night. man, i love going down to their downstairs and hearing aweosme music. its always packed and it makes you feel like youre at some awesome basement party. one section people are in line getting drinks, another fanning off, another section people are breaking and another people are dancing their brains out. the upstairs is also really cool. just your average, chill pool hall.

The best little dive bar in Portland! This place has got it all, from good food/strong drinks to a rotating local art showcase. I highly recommend you check out some music downstairs. They always have a good rotation of bands playing each week and the cover charge is usually next to nothing. Their staff is also full of fabulous talented people who truly have a special place in my heart. Love you Goodfoot, dont ever change!

I always love going to the goodfoot. its tucked away over on the east side but every time iv been there I end up dancing and having a great time and I dont even dance. Funk nights are super fun. Other times they just have great bands. last night they had a 7 piece band that rocked the house. negatives are that they always charge cover when there is a band and it is never fun to pay a cover. boo!

My friends love this place. I really enjoy they food their. I like the sandwiches. The art that is always changing is great. It is usually fairly open unless their is a game, and then after is it packed with drunk Blazer fans. The stretch of bars on the street is fun. It also is really nice that the venue is downstairs, so you can enjoy your time without having to hear the bands.

Soul Stew! Located in the basement of the Goodfoot and definitely brings out your dancing feet! Just a note: CASH ONLY for the cover. The dancing floor is so tiny. Its really hard to dance in a 1 foot square so if you dont like getting jabbed, grinded, pushed or poked... dont dance! Go upstairs to the pool area and grab a beer/cocktail and relax.
