When my wife and I were dating, John Christ Winery was our "date spot". Everybody there was a friend, or became one. Alex and Zora Christ were wonderful hosts, who served some of the best wines the state had to offer, and comfort foods to match. We were like family. In fact, we held our rehearsal dinner at the winery. Times change. Alex and Zora retired. The winery was sold. Attitudes changed as well. On my first visit under new management...I asked a question about a wine, and was rudely answered with, "You wouldnt understand." That is a bad answer, since I had worked in the wine industry for years. The "manager" failed to ascertain my background. I am no "expert", but that was rude to say, even to a novice. Later, I met the managers parents at the winery. They were equally rude. Sadly, the wines lost their wonderful nuances that Alex Christ formed. The friendly atmosphere is gone. Yes, the place is thriving with the folks who have moved into the Buddy Kopf developments in the area. Good for Buddy Kopf. You are a wonderful businessman. Unfortunately, the good wine is now average. The friendly atmosphere is now just another business...albeit local, that is good! I do not expect Alex and Zora. They were special to us. That is past. It is just a shame the wines lost their character, and the staff lost their sense of MANNERS.

New management is rude and very dismissive of customers concerns. Ordered a fruit roll up which has been a favorite signature drink for the past 7 years that I have come for. First off the bartender begins to make the pitcher and doesnt bother to inform me as to the new substitute that is being used for the energy drink mix. When I asked to speak to a manager he just comes over and say oh well just pour it out and walks away. The bartender quite unsure on how to respond to my questions that I still had as the manager walked away so I asked to speak to him again. Once again very rude as if Im a paying customer is bother to him. I understand that management changes all the time and like I said before I have been coming here for 7 years and this management staff is by far the worst. I will not be returning I will by my wine somewhere else.

I was a visitor to Ohio. My friend brought me to the winery for a wine tasting. The host and gentleman at the bar made us feel unwelcome, the hostess keep telling us how busy they were as is she did not want us to stay. This a very unfriendly winery. Oh and they ran out of food.

This place by far has the best fruit wines I have ever came across. The service I received from the staff was first class. They really try to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I would recommend anyone wanting to have a date night this is definitely a hidden gem.

Ok wine. Comfortable outdoor setting. The duo playing were a couple of the worst musicians Ive ever heard. Like they just met in the parking lot and were playing whatever tunes they both knew that were fit for planning suicide.

Very cool great-lakes style winery. Has a nice bar area with a great relaxed family-style atmosphere. Produces lots of great wines, including a lot of tasty/sweet fruit wines.
