I was blown away by this casino. I came here by way of staying in Fargo and wanted to check out the local casino. While it took about an hour to drive, I was pleasantly surprised. When I first arrived in the parking lot, it looked very dated and I didnt expect much from it, especially considering some of the other reviews I read. However, I walked in and found a very clean (albeit smelling like smoke) small circular casino with many new slot machines. Many of these machines came out in the last few years as well as the popular favorites. The best part was every button worked! Too many times have I been to casinos to find the machines not being kept up but here it was a different and much better experience. They have a high limit room although the decent payouts make the regular machines fun to play. I only lost about $40 playing slot minimum for a couple hours! They only had a couple tables open (I didnt see roulette) but then again there might have only been 20-30 people when I went. They have a couple free Pepsi stations with coffee on the floor for guests including a couple restaurants and a late nite "deli" which sells what youd typically find at a 7-11minus the selections. The hotel lobby was clean and free of the smoke smell. I didnt stay at the hotel though but Id bet the rooms are decent and well kept. They also have a convention center on site as well as a gas station next to the property. I really was blown away at what a gem this was considering how few of these sorts of casinos have these amenities and are friendly with slot paybacks. If I ever find myself in the area again, Id definitely come back.

Youd think a casino would be open 24/7 right? Well, theyll surely keep letting you spend your money on a machine, but after midnight if your hungry youll have to either leave to get real (GOOD) food, or eat gross hot dogs, or cheap pizza. We waited 20 mins for our pizza and she burnt it, so we had to wait another 20 mins, we should have left then, the pizza was gross, having 1 worker only waiting on maybe 5 ppl while we waited, yet she still couldnt cook a pizza right. She didnt even say sorry, she just said, "oops, looks like I have to bake another". And when we went they were remodeling, yet no one told us this when we called on the phone. Would have been nice to know before we got there. We picked a really bad time to go, and because of what happened that night, does not make me ever want to go back. The people were so crabby, the workers to forever to come to a machine to fix it, I mean really? It wasnt busy at all, there was no reason we had to wait 15 mins for some kid to come fix a broken machine, and the sad part was it broke within 2 mins of him leaving and I had to wait another 15 mins again. Just way to much waiting we did that night. It was just to slow and ridiculous.

I think most of you who give a bad rating do not understand the "legal status" of where you are at. This is a federal reservation - they are ensuring those of you who DO smoke illegal substances are not arrested on federal charges. Those of you who are expecting Vegas should go to Vegas. Some of you need to learn how to spell ..... just saying. 91% payout refers to the percentage of payout you receive, not the percentage of winners. There are times when a casino must refurbish, repair, and restore. It seems some of you would have the same complaint no matter what the reason was. I would ask some of you the obvious question but that would not matter, you would not see the pink elephant (selfie) in the room if I pointed it out to you. Be well, and understand the term "entitlement", because I think some of you feel you are on that plan. If you are, be prepared to Pay For It. If I were managing that property I would ensure you received the service you expected, as long as your wallet reflected the ability to pay for it. Otherwise, it would be the standard rate, service, and amenities that are advertised.

Overall, the service from the vast majority of the staff was exemplary. With the Dakota Magic casino card, our room was only about 35 for each of our two nights we were there. This was January 9th and 10th, 2011, Sunday and Monday night during the January 2011 blizzard. We initially paid cash for both nights, and realized that our trip was going to be longer than we originally planned. When we wanted to change to credit card, and hold the cash for emergencies, the front desk staff initially said ok. Then we overheard the clerk we initially talked to ask another employee to pretend he was management and tell us no "because the casino needed the cash." The hotel is beautiful, and most staff are friendly and helpful, but apparently all bets are off once the hotel gets its hands on your cash. This is enough to affect any future visits there.

Positive: +Friendly front desk staff at hotel +Clean hotel rooms +Free soft drinks on casino floor +Not as smokey as many casinos +Smoke free slot room +Decent hotel and casino theme +Free bottled water and coffee in rooms +Variety of casino games +Nice location Negative: -Buffet overpriced for quality of food -Do not offer discounts large group discounts for buffet (see below) -Lack of toiletries (i.e. we had one bar of soap for three adults to share for showering and hand washing) -Bathroom in non-smoking hotel room smelled like smoke I stopped with a large group of 26 adults, about half seniors. We went to the buffet, which charged $22 a person. We were informed that they provide no discounts for seniors or big groups. Slightly disappointing, but thats a business choice in a free market society. Overall, meh. Not bad, but not great.

Dont know how old any good ratings of this casino are, but the fact is that its nothing but a near criminal enterprise, actually I think you had better odds in old Vegas when the mob controlled it. Years back had terrific times here, not in recent years. Its deplorable what the management have done to this place. A hundred seventy five years ago you ventured into the tribe area, and your reasonable expectation was to be relieved of the need for a haircut. Its back, but now its the entire contents of your wallet. I would call there slot payouts horrible.....but what payouts are there? The good old days ended when they removed the 5 Times Pay reel machines. Since then forget it.

Always had fun here...until tonight.lost computer probably a server at about 5 pm. Appeared they did not give their customer service desk much info. No announcements made as to why or what the issue was. People like myself who were there to receive free meals anniversaryetc were told sorry we cannot help. People list points, unable to get promo dollars. I asked management to be called as I had questions. Waited 20 minutes for a response..nothing not even a courtesy call back to customer service. This place has a lot to learn as how to handle a critical situation As a former customer service manager for a Fortune 50 company..let me know if I can help.
