We recently purchased a house out in Sag Harbor and having spent some time living out in SF and Napa we were excited to get to know the local wineries. Our first experience at Wolffer was fine, we arrived before closing and tasted some good wines with friends, server was nice but rushed as it was closing soon, expected in new york. We rent our house out frequently so we even decided to recommend some guests visit. As most loyal wine drinkers do we decided to join the wine club, we signed up like we did out in Napa and were excited for our pickup. This is when the winery really let us down, we received an email to go pickup our first shipment, we drove over to pick up and do some drinking. When we arrived we spoke to a lady who seemed to be a waitress about picking up our shipment and opening a bottle, she looked at us with disgust and said NO you cannot do that and walked away, I have never met someone so rude in my life. So we have just purchased wine and we cant open a bottle and purchase food and enjoy it? We then went into the room to pickup our shipment, we were treated like cattle, no personal touch or thanks so much for being a member, we again inquired about opening a bottle and enjoying it, rudeness continued, well the shipments are cheaper so you have to buy more wine to drink it here, ok well at least now we understood why instead of someone just saying NO and walking away. I understand you are catering to a different crowd then Napa but being polite to guest and members is standard anywhere. We will not return and cancel our membership, please hire some actual professionals to run your wine program.

There are so many lovely wineries on Long Island that are welcoming and friendly and downright beautiful. Im am a true fan and advocate of Long Island wine - having lived here and supported it my whole life. If this is the only winery youve ever visited, you have never seen Long Islands wineries. Unlike the North Shore wineries, or even the fabulous Channing Sisters down the street, this place is unjustifiably pretentious. Im not quite sure what theyre trying to be? A Tuscan estate? Well, been there, and theyre not even close. Unlike every other vineyard on the island, you are immediately confronted by a hard sell as soon as you walk in the door. They dont want you to stop and spend time there with friends/family; they want you to taste/buy and move on so they can profit form the next group. Thus, dont bother bringing your lunch so that you can buy a bottle and have a splendid afternoon - they dont allow you to bring food onto the premises. The attitude of the man who confronts you at the door and serves the flights is as sour as the wine. Trust me, Long Island wineries are magical - when youre driving down 27, skip this one and head toward Channing or the fabulous estates on the North Shore. This place is embarrassing for Long Islanders.

My husband an I have been to this winery several times & love their wines & have always had a great experience, but the past 2 times we visited have been miserable. They set it up where you get seated at a table & receive table service for your tasting. Both times we were seated at a table & ready to order a tasting with no one coming over to help us. All the workers just kept walking by our table without even a "hello". We sat for about 20-30 minutes before we got up & walked out. This is an absolutely gorgeous winery, but the service has really been lacking. Best to go during the slow season or to their smaller tasting stand.

Ive been going to this place for years and it is absolutely awesome. I have always made friends with the staff and I never felt pressured to spend a lot of money so dont think that is the case. This is the best vineyard in the Hamptons and the wine is top notch. The sparkling blanc de blanc and rose are as flavorful and aromatic as almost anything from Champagne or Napa Valley. The seasonal Rose is also special, with a perfect blend of smoothness and power. Ive never had any unfriendly staff so I dont know what others are talking about. Like I said, Ive been here countless times.

Rude rude and rude!!!! Spent over $599 here and was told by the hostess that my party was talking too loud!!! We were all laughing and having a good time. This was on a Saturday when the place was packed. Im hearing impaired and I need for my friends to speak at a higher volume above the background noise. Im sorry but is this a library??? This place is Pretentious and trying very hard to be shi shi! Honey, lets remember one thing.... Just because you are in the "hamptons" you are still on Long Island. And Long Islanders speak loud, have fun, and let loose!

Love this place! We came on a Tuesday at noon and already there were about 8 cars in the lot. The inside is very large yet has a hip, cozy lodge feel. We took a seat in the big soft cushy chairs that surrounded a little table, and ordered wine tasting and cheese and meat platter. There were only a few other couples and small group of 4 there, but the place is spacious enough that it felt like we had it to ourselves. Our server was so nice, and very knowledgeable. Would def come again. I hear weekends are a nightmare, but cant really comment on that!

Very pretty... but horrible service. My husband and I walked in the tasting room asked the bartender if its okay if we sat outside and she said yes, I will send someone right over... 20 minutes later nothing! So we decided to walk inside and sit down 10 minutes later... nothing! My husband had to ask a passing waitress if we could be helped. She seemed annoyed and asked what we wanted. Brought us our wine and we never saw her again. We had to get up for napkins and our check. We will not be returning.

Awesome is all i can say and to see that terrible review by shireen BaBu well could not be any further from the truth im an inch away from calling her a liar but i wont. She did not get her own way and wanted the rules bent a bit for her.Im not an employee so i have some latitude on telling it the way it was.Shireen was a loudmouth trying to pull rank and did not like the fact that she had no rank.Typical Winer and no punn intended.Love you all at Wolffer Estate

What a horrible experience. This was suppose to be our first experience in wine tasting & it was horrible. We was greeted & then seated but after that, the service was horrible. We stood there for 15 mins waiting for someone to even acknowledge us. People that came after us was being served. Beautiful place but bad service. The only thing I took with me, were pictures. I guess our time & money wasnt good enough for this winery.

This is a great place to visit as a couple or with kids. they have two different sides--one where they do tastings and you enjoy an exquisite view of the vineyard, and another where they welcome families and have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The wine is not cheap and the weekend family event is popular, so arrive early to get a good table or nice spot on the lawn. We come every year on our vacation to Sagaponack.
