This was my second time attending a show at this venue. Halfway through our 4 hour road trip my bothers and I lost our tickets on the thruway. The staff was helpful and we were able to have TicketFly change our order from Mail Order to Will Call without issue. The multi-level set up in nice and you are able to see the stage from almost anywhere in the venue. The acoustics are great and the each band sounded wonderful. $6 for a well mixed drink isnt too bad this close to NYC, On the other hand, the bathrooms were DISGUSTING, Not overly surprising for a music venue, but 1 of the 4 stalls in the ladies room was clogged with god-knows-what. Only 2 of the stalls stayed closed when you shut them. There were tampon wrappers and bits of TP all over the place, but not a single roll in the holder or on the tank. Also, no soap or paper towels. Each lady had to walk to the bar and take napkins to then return back to the bathroom and wait in line again. Even after notifying the bartender and security nothing was done about it. Ill definitely be back, but Ill be holding it.

This rating is based solely on the customer service. I called to purchase tickets over the phone and to start, the lady whom I was speaking to was not very friendly. I purchased my tickets with her and I was told I would be getting an email confirmation which I never did. I called back after not getting it and they said that it was sent but I still never received it. She assured me that my tickets would be at will call and that I was all set. A couple days before the show I went on their website to check what time the show started and I come to find out that not only did they move the performance date (which I had missed by now) that no one even called me to tell me or give me a refund. I called to get a refund and was told someone was going to call me to help me with the refund, no one ever called.

Filthy establishment, the building in it’s entirety is clearly neglected. The bathrooms were vomit-inducing. Staff had no respect for the customers, they were rude and dismissive at best. Show started 2 hours late and the crowd was never given any updates. The building was bitter cold throughout the whole show in the winter. The drinks were overpriced for the bottom shelf garbage they tried to pass off as liquor and they had very little to choose from. No wine at all. I’m reposting this review because it seems someone managed to take down my first entry. That’s ok. I can revisit and repost.

My sister with special needs and I saw Michael Franti and Jay on October 8th. The experience was outstanding. She was happier than I have seen her in a long time. The staff were kind, helpful and went out of their way to assist us. The security staff reached out to us and made sure that movement in and around the theater was easy for her. Bob and Nickkie were so very thoughtful. I highly recommend seeing Michael and Jay and I am so appreciative of everyone who made that night magical.

Ive been here too many times to count. Its small, but the acoustics are usually pretty good. Its usually pretty packed on a good night, sweaty and cramped but hey, thats live music. My advice would be not to wander around the surrounding streets, and dont talk to the bums. The related venues, the Loft and Club Crannell are even smaller, actually tiny, but a great place to get up close and personal with a good band.

Going here for the club nights was horrible. I highly suggest that if youre 21 or over, dont come here. The bartenders dont know what theyre doing and they over charge you incredibly. The music sucked, and so do the bathrooms. The workers are rude, and stuck up. If you want to actually enjoy your night, go somewhere other than The Chance Theater.

I went this past weekend to see a friends band play here. I was impressed by the venue, which was nice and open and had two different floors. It was easy to see the stage from just about anywhere, which is always a plus. Drink prices were also very reasonable. The sound was decent. Great place for live music.

Great venue for concerts! Sound is great, always able to get up close to the stage. Located right off the mid-Hudson bridge, parking lot right around the corner. The area appears to be a shadier part of Poughkeepsie, so be careful

BAD neighborhood! Staff was good to me. Tight fit for my tour bus and trailer to get into but at least it was tucked away from the natives. I found (and turned in) a womans wallet that had been stolen. Lock your doors!

Honestly cant understand why this venue is still standing. Sure it brings in a lot of great talent but its very small and tight, the bathrooms are always filthy, and the staff is very unprofessional.

Great stage for live shows with good sound system and excellent lighting. Seats and tables for patrons. My main issue is that the restrooms are usually a mess and the doors are always wide open.

Small but intimate with the bands or whoever is the entertainment for the night. Been a fan since 1997 and I still see something that I havent seen before every time I go. So historic.

Small up close venue to go see bands play, this is one of my favorite venues to go to. This venue might be tricky to find because its in the middle of an brick alleyway.

Its small but very inexpensive to get front row seats to your favorite artist. Drinks arent that expensive compared to other bars just wish the bathrooms were kept up

Great small venue to see a band. Stop in the Nuddy next store for a bite to eat before or after the show.
