A heavyweight in FLX Rieslings, Herman J Wiemer was a must-visit. Its a very polished operation with a tasting room in the actual winemaking area (in the "middle of the action," as it were), which is a nice touch. The quality of the wines was very good, and offerings ran the gamut from quaffable, "bargain cuvee"-style bottlings to ageworthy, single-vineyard Rieslings. Our experience was very agreeable, and we came away with one "prize": a magnum of the 2014 dry Riesling. Their tasting room was overrun by fruit flies, but that was not surprising given its location and unseasonable warmth. We will be returning to Herman J. Wiemer in the future.

A Private User

We attempted to visit the Weimer winery for tasting on New Years Eve, 2011, at 4:30pm. The winery closed at 5:00pm and refused to allow us to taste. They told us the winery had just cleaned up and could not accept a party of 11. Its not like we had a huge party, and every one of us was an experienced wine taster. We were very upset, and even though Weimer has well known wines, we will not be returning ever again. Too snobby for their own customers.

Our first wine-tasting experience! It was fabulous! The area is filled with beautiful vineyards along the lake side. What a gorgeous drive it was! We chose this particular vineyard after reading an article in the NY times, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable (and not intimidating as one wouldve expected :)) A fun experience!!!

Great atmosphere! Our server was very informative and professional. They are very passionate with their wine and how the overall venue and tasting experience is handled. They have mostly all whites, except for a cab franc. I cant say enough about how good their wine is. Top notch and one of the best on seneca.

The best stop on our Seneca Lake wine tour yesterday. By far. They dont make a wine that isnt wonderful. Each grape varietal is well-suited to the Finger Lakes climate. Also very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely revisit when in the area again.

It was many years ago that I visited and tasted. But to this day, I recall how they had the best collection of wines Ive tasted at any winery in NY or CA. Its the only tasting room Ive visited where I enjoyed every single wine there.

Thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting experience; very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Absolutely loved the tasting room - and we thought the wines were some of the best (if not the best) on the Seneca Wine Trail. Highly recommend !

OK wine tasting but nothing interesting to see at the winery. Staff was clearly more intererested in pushing and selling a lot of wine than educating visitors. Some wines are good (dry Riesling) and some are aweful.

Highly professional vineyard! The whole experience for wine tasting from start to finish was informative and fun. Definitely recommend the Magdalena. Id dare to say the best Riesling in the area.
