My wife and I visited Ransom Steele for the first time this evening (Saturday, November 14) to see Eastbound Jesus. The band was fantastic, and the woodwork is beautiful. Unfortunately, the night ended on a sour, frightening note. Two time convicted murderer, Cal Harris, was there and verbally attacked and attempted to physically attack two men near the second floor bar. He was restrained by several individuals on two occasions by members of his party, who also appeared to be threatening the two men. His behavior terrified my wife, and made several others near us extremely uncomfortable. One word to describe his behavior would be psychotic. He remained in the bar following the incident, while it appeared that the men he had accosted left. He remained in the bar. There was no visible security presence. In talking to other patrons I learned that Mr. Harris is a frequent visitor to the Ransom Steele. If I were the owners of that establishment I would ask him to leave and never return based on what we witnessed. Cal Harris is a volatile, dangerous man. Having someone like that there creates an unsafe environment. We will never set foot in the door there again. I dont care if the Rolling Stones are playing there.

My fiance, friends, and I have been to the Ransom Steele Tavern multiple times now. We really love the place! The building is beautiful, the workers are friendly, the food & drinks are good, and the service is great. They also bring in a lot of really great bands that we follow closely! We live over an hour away from the tavern, but we try to make the trip at least once or twice a month because its honestly one of the best venues around... and trust me, we go to a lot of different venues. You just cant beat the atmosphere there; its so light, friendly, and fun. We always feel so welcomed! Honestly, some of the best nights weve had out have been there! Theres no way you can leave there without a smile :) Thanks guys for everything that you do! Keep up the good work for as long as you run we will continue to support you and bring as many new faces around as possible! Much gratitude!

Road tripping back from Canada, my girlfriend and I were hungry for dinner and didnt want to grab a boring fast food / rest stop meal. We searched around and found this place just off our route and headed in. The waitress was friendly, service was quick, and the food was fantastic. I got the buffalo chicken wrap, absolutely packed with good quality shredded chicken and buffalo sauce and very tasty. My girlfriend got a salad that she really enjoyed - very big portion as an added bonus. The place itself looks really cool and I would love to go to see live music there if I were in the area. I wish there was a venue like this near my home. If I ever find myself in the area again, I know Ive got a solid option with the Ransom Steele Tavern.

Ransom Steele Tavern is an amazing venue for both the music patron and the musician alike. The Liberty family has done a wonderful job providing a warm, friendly environment. The service is excellent and the food is too. As a performer I have found them supportive and welcoming. Their stage and sound system are among the areas best. The Ransom Steele Tavern has been a great boon to our local music scene and also provides a destination to have a night out with friends, fine food and amazing music.

The next time you want some excellent food in a fun, casual venue, Randsom Steele is a place to checkout! Always entertained with top notch music and phenomenal atmosphere! There is a bar & dining area downstairs. The upstairs offers a bar with a great view and excellent sound. The staff are, friendly, well informed and obviously happy to be there, made us feel even more welcome right away. Love the Pizza my guy and I killed a whole pie last time.

Love that they rebuilt a local land mark and have turned it in to a trendy watering hole. Few quirks in my opinion. 1) after 9pm on the weekends expect to pay a cover for whatever band is there. This place is nice, but come on...Its apalachin. You should be paying people to drive here. 2) acoustics are horrible. Dont expect to "listen" to music here. 3) no fryer...Really?

Worlds apart from the ol Smoke House, and thats very much a good thing. Ransom Steel sports beautiful wood work that sets the soul at ease. However the local brews and spirits help with that as well. Bar fare is supreme, and tunes to meet most tastes. Love seeing local revival in our historic hicktown! Stop in, enjoy a burger, run the taps, and bask in history. Cheers!

You will not be disappointed. Mike and his Family and staff have done a fantastic job with the restoration and revitalization of the old Hotel. Great menu, bar, music,atmosphere. Had a great time Mike, Thanks ! Well be back

One of the best venues in our area. Local craft beer on tap, some of the best food with out question, and of course the music scene cant be beat. My wife and I have never had a bad experience here - fantastic place.

Awesome place, especially for live music! The food is great too! The libertys really know how to entertain. Great place to visit, hang with friends, see a band our just have a delicious meal.

nice woodwork ,but thats it ,BAD SERVICE all the way around.. ordered pizza ,paid for and never showed up, heard same thing from multiple people on Band nights.

A nearly 200 year old barn revitalized into a great live music venue...some of the old rough hewn beams are likely from trees that first sprouted 500 years ago.
