Weve been going to Starlight for 20 yrs, and its just a wonderful outdoor theatre. Not only are there concerts (last year saw Weezer, Flight of the Conchords, Barenaked Ladies), but a great selection of Broadway shows each season! Theres something for everyone. We are so lucky to have a theatre like this in Kansas City. I also love the addition of indoor shows they are running by walling off the stage and creating an intimate theatre inside ON the stage... smart! My daughter took me to see Women Only over winter-- laughed til we cried! A completely different theatre experience, and amazing. Theres just something so thrilling about watching a Broadway show or concert under the stars. I cant wait to see Steve Martin and Martin Shorts comedy tour, the Broadway musical Something Rotten and more!! Fingers crossed for good weather (Starlight cant control the weather). My pet peeve: cell phones out/on! Noooo!! You may be outdoors but youre still at a Broadway show and that means no phones, people. Went to see If/Then and numerous people around us had phones lit up in the dark. I have to say it wasnt young people, but a lot of middle aged women. Shut your phones off and enjoy the show! Smoking only in back section, so not in nonsmokers faces. Food stands have been improved, with good choices and prices (nachos and lemonade are really good). Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms (thank you). Police direct traffic after the show and get the crowd moved out pretty quickly. Beautiful venue. Always a fun night at Starlight!

Phenomenal venue. We were greeted by some not nice staff, but the concession stand staff, merch staff, and the rest of the staff were fantastic. We drove four hours from St. Louis to see Bob Dylan for my 21st birthday and we didnt know what to expect from the venue. Regardless of what seats you have you will get a great view. The grounds are beautiful, with gardens and fountains. Just a great overall experience. During the show multiple people got rude and belligerent and our row talked the entire time. After the intermission the staff actually upgraded our seats so that we didnt have to be seated near the disrespectful guests. We got a beautiful view of Bob Dylan for the rest of his set. I want to point out how amazing the staff is. The ushers did a fantastic job ensuring people didnt get too rowdy, steal seats, or use flash photography. One specific usher, Vickie Marshall, did a wonderful job and was the one that allowed us to switch rows. She also did her best to contain the rowdy guests in our row, but they just refused to be respectful. Thank you, Starlight Theatre staff, for giving me a wonderful 21st birthday. I highly recommend the venue, regardless of the childish people that attend. I couldnt have asked for a better experience, even with the hiccups.

4 to 4.5! Always loved this venue for musicals and concerts! Really - not a bad seat in the house...beware short people like me, get aisle seats or seats in front of section - never fails a really tall guy or big-haired lady sits in front if me (haha). NOTE: SEATS! I feel bad for anyone of normal to tall stature (or a wider person)...these seats are like airline seats = great for a 5-foot tall person like myself, terrible if you are much taller. Kid-friendly! The procedures may vary per show...Beauty and the Beast doesnt get the amount of search & caution as a Cypress Hill concert (LOL! But that makes sense). Food is pricey - like EVERYWHERE - but, I live the HUGE funnel cakes (enough for 2-4 people!!) and the Lemonade stands - big cup and tastes great! Sound is great @Starlight, staff are friendly and typically helpful, beautiful set-up. Because Im comparing cost to other local venues - parking cost is reasonable: $7 for general, $10 for "preferred" (ya get to park in the parking lot). I always splurge and buy my parking BEFORE the event (when I buy my tickets) -- its easy, only costs $10, faster, and gives me peace-of-mind. Thanks, Starlight! Definitely a KC perk!

I love this venue! Even when its hot in the summer they have huge fans in the back so you can cool off. There are tons of windows where you can get a drink or food so you dont have to wait too long in lines. Parking is ideal, the only problem being it is sometimes hard to find your car after the concert because its just grass and trees. But the staff is very friendly and quick to serve you a drink. There is a smoking section in the back so smokers can hear the concert while they get their fix. The bathrooms are older but kept clean. I like the place a lot and I am looking forward to catching more shows this spring! So far I have seen Paul Simon, the Arcade Fire, a play about Queen and a Rat Pack imitation group. Lots of fun!

They didnt just reschedule a show with a 100% chance of rain at 8 ,9, and 10 oclock all day on the forecast. They made everyone come there, pay for parking, pretty much buy a poncho and watch one band to then send us home after cold war kids played. The tour even had the next few days off so rescheduling/refunding in the first place would have been smarter and let people plan so they can go the next day instead. I had to wait to find out if we were getting a refund till the next day and now they say parking and fees is unrefundable. Also, that it may take up to two weeks to get a refund. First and last time going to starlight.

Bought seats second time here always staff rude and cant find people seats. Kicks you out of other seats but wont help you find your seats. We found our seats our seats were full and staff wouldnt kick them out because our seats were in middle they told us to sit in grass! I paid to be in a seat! Theyre so fast to kick you out the seat your sitting in but not willing to help never will I spend my money here and Im telling all my concerts buddies that its not worth the money or being treated like your not worth helping you enjoy the show pay for thiere jobs should be shameful that staff

The parking was so poorly managed and the attendants so completely clueless and inattentive it ruined the entire experience. Bring cash and just honk at the attendants if they dont notice you because they are busy making time with each other. The box office experience was hardly better. I will never come to another event here again and will forever vote against taxes to support this place. I am a 30 year resident of Kansas City and am very disappointed. No matter how good the show is, it wont make up for the mismanagement of the venue itself.

Saw Muse on Monday, May 12, 2017. It was a great concert, went with my partner and his parents, and despite the heat and crowd, the staff was attentive and responsive. The only issue was parking and the person who directed us to our spot wasnt paying attention and looked annoyed when we had our parking stub in the air. The sign pointed in two different direction and he gave us a, "are you kidding me" look before point us to the grass. Also getting out was a little hectic, but I expected it because it was a sold out crowd.

This is one of my favorite venues to patronize when going to shows out of state. Its hard to find a bad seat and the staff have always been nice and helpful for us. We drive down from Omaha, NE on a somewhat regular basis when tours go through KC and not our city. Always worth the trip! The renovated bathrooms are large and kept clean, concessions reasonable, and were find the ticket prices tend to be worth the trip. Ive been there as a contest winner and as a regular paying attendee and have yet to be let down.
