I had an excellent evening at the Palace Theatre. I will for sure be returning not just based on experience but also because the shows being booked are incredible. I absolutely love the staff. Theyre there to monitor, but dont impede on the evening without cause. First impression, multiple hands on deck at the door. Easy and simple to get in. Once youre in you walk right up to a big main bar with lots of bartenders. If you want a drink immediately then do yourself a favor and walk to another bar if youre feeling impatient. This way you can see the rest of the place as well. Its worth the walk! Someone mentioned to me that it takes a while to get a drink (thats because your impatient or you didnt look for the other bars). IMO. Numerous amounts of places to stand. You can get up close just like First Ave, which I love, because not to many venues give you a chance to be literally standing an arms length away. Big building so you can walk around with friends and adventure, all while getting fantastic sound quality. Based on your style you will find a place to stand/sit that suits you! Im sure certain places will be blocked off for different shows, so do your research ahead of time if you want to have an opinion on logistics. Otherwise, ask questions to the staff, they will help. Bathrooms were beautiful, tasteful style, clean and easy to find. Lets talk music! Sound quality and stage/lights set-up is AWESOME! I saw the String Cheese Incident and the whole building was lit up and colorful. I could walk anywhere and still hear the music. We stood in the best spot for this show. We were a step up from the floor right by the bar so we could see really well and the sound was perfect. I love the vintage look and am glad they kept it, but if you have an eye for detail youll see the upgrades and that they are tasteful and tactful. Ive been to a ton of shows, venues, festivals, and no where feels more like home than at a place where Frist Ave has a hand in! Oh! And theres a parking lot extremely close and a little café. Get there early to have a close spot and grab a bit to eat! Hope you have as great of a time as I did!

Saw Phantogram last night... Fantastic show. Venue has a really cool vibe and great ambiance. Some people have said it looks like it is falling down... Im pretty sure that is by design...play on "Palace", ya know? Agree with other reviewers that they dont quite have their mix down yet (agree that it is overly bassy). Dont get me wrong, I love bass, but when it distorts and drowns vocals/guitar, it isnt quite right. However, for a young venue the Palace has a bright future. Will certainly be back for more shows... a welcomed and needed addition to St. Pauls night life.

Went to see Social Distortion here last night. Was it just me, or did anyone else there feel like they couldve cranked up the volume a bit, maybe upped the bass a bit too. Ive seen them a few times now, and something about the show just didnt seem right. There were shouts from people around me to "turn it up", so I know Im not the only one. Not once did I get that sensations that I could feel the music in my chest because the sounds system was so powerful. Who knows, maybe Mike Ness requested it that way, but whatever the case I wasnt really impressed with the sound.

I was excited to see Social Distortion as Ive enjoyed them a handful of times in several different venues. Boy was Palace a different story. The sound stunk. Mike Ness sounded nasal, the guitar balance was off, and the cymbals were non-existent in the sound mix. I tried to find some good sound by moving to several locations in the theater and failed. On the upside, the bars and staff were good but unlike others (who can give a 5 star rating for this), I go to concerts for sound, therefore 2 stars.

My first experience at The Palace Theater was a GA Floor spot for Bryan Ferry. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cant speak for the balcony; but it is extremely raked. Despite a cavernous look and feel, the sound was above average for Bryan Ferry and his 9 piece band. However, someone inexperienced at the soundboard could make a mess of things. But finally, St Paul has a venue just as good if not better than First Avenue.

Great venue. Saw The XX from the first row in the loge section. Excellent sound, great views of the whole stage. Im excited to go back to see Ryan Adams and some other shows later this year. If you have floor tickets, you need to get there really early. This place gets packed. I wouldnt want to sit very high up in the balcony. Anything past the first few rows looks pretty uncomfortable.

A classic old theater that is going under renovations. It is still a little rough on the interior, but obviously being restored to some of the old stylings. The ground floor is standing only, but the balcony has very comfortable seats. Good views of a huge stage and nice acustics help make this a good concert venue. I plan on returning for many concerts to come.

Wrap-around bar makes it easier than most venues to get a drink at. Because it is a renovated theater, it still has old theater sound. As a result, theres A LOT of resonance. When youre watching an artist using lots of reverb and/or delay (i.e. when Tycho played), it becomes a bit overwhelming and quite loud.

Real cool "rescue" sort of Viber going on. The stage and bar set up are the best part of the first avenue set up with out taking away from the classic early 1900s vibe. The sound and views of the band are great. Looking forward to attending slot more concerts here. Only thing they need is another coat check.

Seen Atmosphere last night, really neat venue. Good layout, plenty of room. I think the bass was a little over kill. Ear plugs helped but why so loud? I hope they put some of those funds in the ceiling, I could see debris falling in areas. Good show! Oh, and Sims should have opened for Dem Atlas.

Excellent live music venue. I like the deconstructed look of the place, having remembered this theater when I was very young. Lots of seating in the balcony area, as well as standing room on the main floor. Also an excellent sound system. Very happy that First Avenue is managing this place.

this is essentially what you get when First Avenue gets together with Orpheum and has a baby. I really like the GA experience, I was able to easily find a seat in the balcony even though the show is sold out. Get there early if you want a spot close up on the floor.

Attended The XX show here. Excellent atmosphere in and around the venue. Some of the assigned seats seem to have less than ideal views but there was plenty of space to stand with good views by the bar on the main level.

Great music venue! Its as if the Orpheum and First Ave had a baby. Ample bathrooms, large well staffed bars, great sound and sightlines. Excited to see more acts come through here.
