The Hjemkomst ship itself is the prize of the center and quite good to look at and study. The facility has a theater to show the voyage of the ship and they have all sorts of historical displays of the journey like the tools, Captains log, etc. Also, the site has the Hopperstad Stave Church replica. Very beautiful to look at and visiting comes with the initial price of admission. You need to have an employee of the center open the doors of the church for you if you want to look inside it. The staff was only a few people but they were great people and very knowledgeable of the ship and the church. Not much for children to experience but still seeing the ship and church is enough for all kinds.

A Private User

We had our wedding ceremony at the Stave Church and the reception inside the center. It was a good expierence and I loved our choice to say our vows there and then celebrate with friends and family. Two reasons to proceed with caution before signing up for it. Number 1: the Stave church holds only 50 sitting and 65 standing - which may cause you some grief from certain people such as co-workers or distant relatives. Number 2: there are many rules and regulations to rent the facility. Make sure you read carefully before agreeing.

We stopped to waste time on a road trip but it turned out to be a really interesting museum. Definitely watch the video about the ship, it was worth the time. The church was interesting too. We briefly looked at a few other exhibits but ran out of time before we saw what else they had to offer. Its a neat little museum.

The tour of the church is a must do! They also show a film on the journey of the Hjemkomst, but we didnt have a chance to see it. Absolutely beautiful grounds outdoors and indoor galleries showcasing various art.

Tour of the wooden church was neat. The ship is impressive, and we really liked the Prohibition/bootlegging museum exhibit was detailed and engaging. May I suggest offering samples?

Beautiful is museum 3 floors gorgeous Viking ship that sailed from here to Norway and a beautiful church replica of one in Norway we really enjoyed this museum

If youre passing through town and looking to kill time, definitely stop here. The Viking ship was interesting and the church is such a unique building.

Can get a view of the ship from the lobby without paying for admission, though, of course better views and more information inside.
