Got yelled at for hitting balls today on the single patch of grass, six inches behind the staked markers. The elderly employee then preceded to remove said markers because they were closing the range (before sunset?) Absolutely ruined the rest of my practice session. Hiawathas grass absolutely sucks this time of year to hit off of, let alone when employees yell at you for doing it. Its all dirt and no grass. As golf course professionals, please do NOT mark a hitting area as such if its mostly dirt, because players will not hit off of that. Like me, theyll find an area of grass to hit off of. If a hitting zone is all dirt and divots, Take. It. Out. Absolute waste of $7.50. Some people who hit consistently are actually trying to practice, and arent screwing around; dont need any of that treatment. I feel like an absolute idiot buying a patron card when it goes to supporting those kind of people.

OH MY GOD!!! I was looking forward to play because I never played there before....what a waste of time and money. The greens were SO BAD, and the fairways were equally bad. This is by far, the worst course Ive ever played. My buddies said the same thing as well. Before making teetimes, may be you should go check the course out hole by hole. We will never go there again!!!! ARGHHHHHHH. I almost went in to the club house and demanded my part of my money back. Sorry to say this, but the best thing about the course is lake...... OK...the above review was written last year in 2012. So...I played there this last week (9/22), heard that the condition is much better than last year...and it certainly was. I was pleasantly surprise by the improvement on the greens, fairways. Now they are improving the parking lot, which is good as well. Keep it up!

its a very cheap course but the condition midsummer is really quite good. Its a medium difficulty and very scenic. Some of the holes with ponds and fountains can be very beautiful. unfortunately their one drawback is they have the greens almost constantly airiated due to the massive amount of people playing and green damage not being repaired. as such putts are really slow, oftentimes get offline slightly, and dont break as much as the slope would indicate. If you can adjust for that its just fine.

Great straight forward layout with some great holes like #5, #6, #13, and #16. The practice facilities are extremely helpful and the lessons I received there really helped my game. The course is in much better shape this year than last. I play there often and find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Course is back open to all 18 holes again and I thought conditions were pretty, darn good. Please get out there and support our South Minneapolis course. Staff is still awesome.

I played 23 courses last year in Minnesota and western Wisconsin and I would rate this one last if them all. Poor grass and the layout is outdated compare to others. The fact that is old is no reason to be in the condition it is, just look at Keller. Also the lockers and proshop are in very bad conditions. I just give them 2 stars because the people are very courteous, gave me a discount and made me an in between tee time as we were just a twosome.

Great city course that has cheap twilight rates. Back nine was open for summer of 2016 which was great. Update 2017 - I wanted to note that the staff here at this course could not be nicer. They work very hard to accommodate everyone and get people out golfing. There was a little confusion during my last tee time, and they went out of their way to assist. I am so happy to have this course and people running it in my neighborhood.

One of the less expensive courses to play in the Minneapolis area but that may be due to the course conditions. Drainage is very poor, so if you happen to have a tee time that lands after a rainfall, youll probably lose your ball... In the fairway. The staff has always been great and again, cant really beat the cost to play 18 holes.

This might be my new favorite Minneapolis golf course. There are 5 par 5s ... all reachable in two. Most par 4s and 5s are straight. The greens were in decent shape. Only a few dead spots in fairways from ponding water. #3 tee is right on Lake Hiawatha. Minnehaha Creek cuts through a few holes. Not overly challenging but fun.

Downright awful!! I golf a lot and play many different courses every year and this without a doubt is the worst of the bunch. Played it last year in early September but the condition was similar to the quality when courses open for the first day after winter. No excuses. Dont waste money here!!!

Jun. 2016 - The Back 9 is open, in reasonable condition, and getting better every week. There are a couple of greens that are not completely up to par, but it is great to have 18 holes open again. Overall, the course is way ahead of where it was 4 years ago. Plus, the rate to play is great.

Terrible this year. One of the greens was closed so they just put a pin in the fairway. The play was slow but I can be fine with that. Other players made it a miserable round with poor etiquette. Ill try not to come back.

Great place to teach your children how to hit golf balls. Super affordable and friendly staff. The greens are always immaculate. Not bad for a city course. Junior golf clubs on loan if you need some perfect for kids

Great practice facilities! Awesome staff. The back 9 is closed due to flood damage, but the front 9 is coming back great. Its a heck of a deal for $12. Definitely worth going out there to get in some rounds.

Good golf course. If it is a hot day I would definitely spring for the gold cart or hand cart, carrying clubs for all 18 holes was terrible. Lots of water but its an easy course great for everyone.

It has pins, cups and grass but thats about it. If youre looking for average dont expect it here. Best suited for beginning golfers or someone looking to get some steps in.

Save Hiawatha 18!! I golf here at least once a week. Staff is friendly, price is spot on and course is in good condition. Dont let the mpls park board shut it down!!

The prices are great, its usually easy to get tee times, and its a pretty nice/beautiful location. The course condition is poor, but I will be going back!

Course is in great shape after being closed for a couple seasons. Affordable option for casual or beginning golfers. Nice practice facility.

Was going to hit the driving range, but then I learned twilight was $5. Course was in miserable condition but for $5 I had a great evening.

Front 9 is in pretty good condition, and they have great rates for their driving range. Overall, solid place for a low rate city course.

People are phenomenal but course still rough shape due to city taking to long on a decision from water damage 3 years ago
