Do not enroll your child in their summer camp programs! The staff are inept, do not communicate or listen to parents requests, they allow your child to be assaulted and punched by other children without letting you know until you pick them up. The end of the day staff is different than the morning staff and a the 2 do not communicate. Here are the reasons why we pulled our son out of the program: 1. My son was given an incident report for "bullying" by the afternoon staff for an incident that took place in the morning, my son denied the incident occurring but we believed the staff, to find out that "whoops, wrong child"-staff communication error. 2. Itinerary for the day said return from park at 3:00 pm, I came to pick up at 3:00pm, waited until 3:45 pm for son to return, building staff could not contact the summer power staff to find out what was going on. No-one knew when they would return or how to contact anyone else who would know what was going on-bus company, program coordinator, etc. 3. The morning staff was told we would pick up our son at the park early, went to the park, and no-one is there, called Maplewood YMCA-they didnt know where the kids were. To find out, whoops, our son was transferred back to MCC from park in Stillwater and no, the afternoon staff did not know we were picking him up from park. 4. Our son gets assaulted and punched but we arent told about it until we pick him up. Later told that, we "would have been told if there was an injury". How being punched in the face is not considered an injury is beyond me. When Maplewood Community Center was not partnered with the YMCA, the summer programs were excellent. You knew where your kids where at all times, the morning staff was there in the afternoons to keep communication channels open to the parents. There was accountability and never did we experience such screw ups and mishandlings with our son! The YMCA summer camp staff has no accountability, no direction, and poor leadership. They talked big but delivered a subpar program which is unsafe for your child!

I like Maplewood Community Center because unlike other health clubs, they have no contracts to sign...you join for however long you like, a year, a month, three months....or buy a 10-visit card to try it out if you dislike committing too far at first. They have lots of classes, especially mornings and evenings; as an unemployed person for years now, I actually wish they had more mid-day class options. They are close to a busline that stops on the half-hour; they have childcare; and they have an onsite Subway Sandwich Shop as well as vending machines. Ample locker rooms have lockers that lock with a quarter, but when you unlock your locker, it gives you back the quarter. It has a very large parking lot that is often more than half full, so its a popular place. Its a wonderful place, clean, friendly, has a pool (not all fitness places have pools) sometimes when my mind considers moving out of our rental...I want to move closer to the Maplewood Community Center. Its multiple levels but it does have an elevator, and a wheelchair ramp. A walking track, weight machine area, all the normal things a fitness center should have. Its only lacks in my opinion is not having a sauna, and the pool is chlorine rather than other, healthier ways to keep a pool clean.

My fiancé added me and the children to his membership and we very much enjoyed coming here for the first month until just recently I encountered an extremely rude worker. Ann (I was told) barked at me saying "This is not your card!" I ask her to check again and gave her my name, explained to her that I had no problems with coming for already the month and why would there be a problem now? She barked back and said that I wasnt my fiancé. She rudely flipped the computer screen towards me to see. All this going on in front of my children! Someone else working the counter helped me and within less than a minute he figured out that something happened to my fiancé and our membership and we werent transferred yet. That being figured out, Ann did not apologize and had a very unprofessional attitude. My fiancé called to find out what happened to our family membership and another unpleasant conversation with a different worker that had no knowledge of what to do! We ended up canceling our membership for full refund. Very disappointed because the pool and exercising unit was nice which is why I gave this an extra star. That being said, customer service was horrible and me being the customer, I was wrong? Good luck!

We scheduled swimming lessons, 8 sessions in two weeks. We setup our schedules to match it. When we arrived, we had to wait twenty minutes to find out the block had been created in error. No phone call, no apology. We requested our money back and were told they could not do that, they could only reschedule us for another session. Were on week two of wondering if swim lessons are going to start on time. I had to go look for the instructor last week. Lessons started 10 minutes late. This week the instructor finally emerged from the hot tub to come start lessons late. To top it off, after lessons a two weeks ago, she took selfies of herself in the locker room despite the posted notice of no cell phone use in the locker room. This is disappointing because while I would expect guests to break this rule, I wouldnt expect staff to. Its been brought to managements attention. Their offer, a preview to free swimming lessons with membership. Seriously? Why would I want to be given the opportunity to have this treatment for free? I wish YMCA had never taken over this place. It was better as a local community center.

On Saturday, July 12, 2014 we got the community center 10 minutes early for my grandsons swimming lessons. We got to the water at 8:55am and my grandson went into the water. Your Saturday manager came running over and told my grandson to get out of the water till 9am unless we purchase a wrist band for $6.50 and then he could swim for 5-10 minutes before class. First off if the pool is only open for swim class and not open to the public to swim, why should we purchase a wrist band. My grandson needs to get used to the water before his class starts. The staff kicked every kid out of the water as they put 1 foot in the water. Every parent that was there was very upset cuz this is really poor business relations. First off we are already paying to come here and not to let a child get used to the water before class for 5 minutes is ridiculous

If I can give it zero stars I would. Came here with my daughter and my sister inlaw and her kids for the very first time and got kicked out 30 min in the pool. There was a girl name Natasha there and right when we got in the pool she stared giving us dirty looks and keep staring at us and then was talking about us to her other co workers. Me and my sister in law had bad vibes from her and we knew she was talking about us. Some of the co workes just keep on working but then one of them told us we had to leave and switch spot with the girl Natasha. If she wanted us to leave or had something to say Natasha should of said it to us. I would never come back here rude and a waste of 20 dollars for only 30 min. And then I tried to get a refund and yet have not gotten it and management never even called back.
