Eloise Butler garden is one of the many green spaces at Theodore Wirth park. The garden path descends very steeply into a small hidden valley. Its a very peaceful well maintained educational space. The docents, museum, and information booth are located in a rustic cabin midway down the path. Be prepared with sturdy walking shoes and walking stick if you need one climb back up to the parking lot is arduous. The garden is dotted with strategically placed benches for rest in and observing. Bug spray is not a bad idea and a camera is a must. The garden contains flora collected from all parts of Minnesota, so once you been here you dont really need to travel out of the cities to see the rest of MN.... just kidding!

This, in my opinion, is Minneapoliss gem. There are so many things to do, even after going here my whole life, I still find new things to discover. The park is huge, and there are so many places to explore. Heres a short list of places and things to do: Quaking Bog: lovely forested nature trails, and a unique ecosystem with walkways that float on a bed of moss. Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden: More curated, less wild nature area. All the plants are labeled. Theres a staffed interpretive center. Great place to teach kids about nature. Mountain bike trails: A new addition. These trails are fun, twisty, and hilly. They range in difficulty from mild to extreme. Wirth Lake, for swimming.

This is truly a great park to visit. Centrally located in the Minneapolis area, it offers a good number of miles worth of trails. Catering to both the paved and natural wooded trail runners and walkers you can make your way through flat, hilly, heavily wooded and pond areas. Also has nice places to picnic. I wish there were more trail signs as you can get turned around if you dont have a GPS map going. Otherwise, take a picture at the entrance trail maps for reference.

Oh how fresh the ocean breeze is. I was raised with the beach in my backyard and it was the first time I had the opportunity to see the Pacific as it was my first time visiting the West Coast. I was coming from the Golden Gate Bridge on a bike and stopped by the beach to take in the gorgeous view. Here you will see people enjoying their dinner, running, walking, reading, parked in their cars, and more all enjoying the view. It is definitely a peaceful site to see.

Hiking, biking, skiing in winter, picnics, playgrounds, swimming, Theodore Wirth has it all. Hiking maps are practically non-existent, so pay attention to where you are. Mountain biking trails are either intermediate or advanced, no beginner trails other than paved trails along the Luce Line. Public restrooms at Wirth Beach House during the summer, otherwise portable outhouse at Wirth Beach. Playground and picnic areas at Wirth Beach.

Great for everything from biking to hiking to skiing in the winter there is a bird sanctuary nearby . and a lake to swim in .beautiful park and it is connects to the lake of the Isles chain down to Lake Harriet . You could paddleboard all the way down. And at Glenwood Avenue and theater worth Parkway there is a Biff handicap ADA for anyone then has to use the restroom all year round

The park is very clean and there are a lot of places to BBQ. Picnic benches are plentiful and spread out so groups are in public yet have enough space for everyone to enjoy the park. There is also swimming available with lifeguards on duty in Glenwood Lake. Bathroom facilities are usually clean and parking is easy.

Great park in the middle of the city with mountain bike trails, disc golf and a full 18-hole and par-3 golf courses. There are better parks out there but nothing beats the location of Theo, right in the heart of the city and off of a number of different bike trails.

This place is a gem in the heart of the Twin Cities. It is great for a stroll or a ride. My kids loved everything there, from finding paw prints (albeit, probably a dog) to jumping up and down on the sloshy floating walkways through the bog.

Spend your day here doing anything under the sun. Mountain biking (south of chalet), road biking (everywhere!), golfing, archery, hiking, swimming, smelling the flowers (Eloise Butler garden), and endless winter fun, too.

This wildlife corridor runs along the western edge of Minneapolis, including small lakes, a creek, and the oldest wildflower garden in the US. Amenities include a chalet open year round for snacks and #7 bus.

The front nine are great with an old world feel. The back nine is like walking up a ski slope. If it werent for the amazing view of downtown I would say only play nine, but the walk is worth it.

Four nice volleyball courts but youll need to bring your own lines. Lake is OK but the swimming area doesnt get very deep and is a weedy in parts. Also has a solid playground for the kids.

Nice singletrack friendly to trail running. Park at the volleyball courts at the beach at Lake Wirth and plan on jumping in the lake to cool off when youre done! Lots of mountain bikers.

One of my favorite places to bike! The Theo Wirth trails link to the Luce Line and Cedar Lake trails for a very nice, scenic ride. Also lots of good x-country skiing in the winter.

Good destination for some quick trail biking. A good mix of climbing, with some berms, jumps and other features. Good view of downtown from the top of the Glenwood section!

A great park close to Minneapolis. Offering some excellent trail running, mountain biking, bird watching, dog walking, and a whole lot of nature close to the city.

Interesting park that seems to have numerous micro ecologies. It is long enough that if you go to different sections you feel like you are in a different park.

It made a nice walk, and there are lots of cool ammenitites. The actual nature preserve areas dont seem very well preserved, as far a being purely wild.
