I have been going to NHB for 10 years. It is not the same as it was 10 years ago. First of all to me the beer is only so/so. The best main stay beer they brew in my opinion is the Poet which is the Porter. The Full Circle is a "safe" beer for anyone. Everything else they have is going to be up in the air and almost always vary person to person on whether or not they like it. The season beer they brew called "Beer-hive" is fantastic! Its usually available in July for a few weeks. NHB is definitely seems to be concentrating on putting out a ton of specialty beers. This is a double edge sword in my opinion. Its great because it keeps folks like me coming back that dont care for their mainstays to try their new brews, but if you find one you like you most likely will never see it on tap again. The food is very good at NHB. As others have said you can get the "heat lamp" foods if you dont go during their busy hours. The best time to get food is over lunch and dinner. Almost everything they have is good and at a reasonable price for food. The atmosphere for lunch is fine, but for dinner this is one of the noisiest pubs ever. not only do brew pubs tend to get loud because of the drinkers talking louder, but NHB also blasts the music just as loud as the entire crowd of people are. It is super annoying and thus the reason we tend to make NHB one of the last places on our list to go. Micro-brew pubs need to keep the focus on their beer and NHB seems to be about making as much money as possible by pushing merchandise and creating a club like atmosphere starting at 6pm. They also have gotten into distilling spirits, and their rums are very good. Service is always hit or miss to us there. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes to get your drinks NHB is definitely pushing their merchandise. Their store is huge and un-avoidable.

My first taste of New Holland was a few months ago when I picked up a six of Cabin Fever from my local grocery store. I was very pleased to say the least. I thought a trip to the brewery and pub would be worth the trip from Chicago, and my wife quickly agreed. The brewery tour was great for those new to brewing or those more knowledgeable. THE ATMOSPHERE: The pub is located in downtown Holland and has a great atmosphere. We were there during the peak of their lunch rush on Saturday. There were tons of families in the restaurant, so if youre not a fan of kids you might want to hang at the bar. THE BEER: They let you choose any six of their brews for your sampler, including seasonals or specialties. They have a great variety to satisfy probably any individuals palette. My personal favorites are Dragons Milk, Mad Hatter, Imperial Hatter, and Cabin Fever; not necessarily in that order. My wife and I agree that the Dragons milk is a must if you ever get a chance to try it or have to pick just one. The Dragons Milk has a very smooth caramel malt which is the perfect complement to the bourbon barrel flavor, and it has subtle kick at 10%! THE FOOD: Our food was good and met our expectation. I tried the pulled pork based on another reviewer, and my wife loved the BBQ chicken pizza. We both agreed that another visit would be a good idea to explore other menu options. OVERALL: I would highly recommend multiple visits to the pub and restaurant. The beer is great. The food is good. Price is reasonable. Service was slow in the restaurant, but I found this to be no different to any other insanely busy restaurants that Ive visited. The staff was very friendly and worked hard to accommodate any request.

New Holland brewing makes the best beer in Michigan. I like it significantly more than founders even. Their beer is well balanced, nuanced and creative enough to inspire me to try all of their different brews. Their Poet stout is my absolute favorite everyday stout. Their Full Circle is the perfect beer for a hot day if I want something lighter. The Dragons Milk is a fantastic even darker beer where the bourbon taste is there, but subtle enough unlike the Backwoods Bastard from Founders. I think that their line-up is how other breweries should strive to be like. I dont find them to be weak in any of their different types of beer. With all of that being said, I didnt find their food to be anything fantastic. They had some interesting options but nothing that i thought would be their claim to fame like crack fries from hopcat or the Stellas burger. They just should just find or create a fantastic dish that they can truly own. Beyond the food and beer, the ambiance is a great brewery feel with plenty of seating which is a huge plus. I would have liked it though if there were sperate people to take the reservation and someone else to seat you. Overall great experience and I would highly recommend this brewery!

the only reason they get one star from me is because this review program wouldnt allow me to give them none. I moved to Holland a year ago now and have thus far not even been served at New Holland Brewing Co.. Every time we go the host is doing double duty as the store/gift shop cashier, and we wait. and wait. and wait. All the time servers and bartenders avoid eye contact and direct communication like we have the plague. Today there was another couple besides us commenting on the same treatment. As an avid beer drinker as well as someone who has spent 20 years in the service industry, I cant fathom how this place is staying open. The good news is- and Id love to thank the general manager for their ineptitude for keeping such jackholes on staff- is that today we wound up going to the Irish pub across the street (after waiting at 2pm w/o any lunch rush at New Holland) that was AMAZING- full house of people, friendly engaging staff, and some of the best food Ive had in town. AGAIN- at the Irish pub- NOT at New Holland. After finding more a more accommodating and friendly place, we will NEVER GO BACK TO NEW HOLLAND BREWING again.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go out to eat and grab a good beer. Unfortunately, the past three times Ive been there, Ive experienced, at best, poor service. The food was tasty as always, but the poor service definitely put a damper on the experience. One of these occasions was on a weeknight when the place was close to empty. Even though we were the only table in our servers section, we were practically ignored the entire time. She was far too busy trying to get the restaurant cleaned up for closing time (which wasnt for another three hours) to do simple things like take our orders, see if we needed another drink, etc. I used to love this place and am still a big fan of the food/beer, but this new pattern of poor service will definitely make me think twice about going back.
