If you are physically able to climb 294 spiral stairs its well worth it for free. At the top its very small and crammed only four tiny windows to look out of. The area surrounding the monument its like walking back in time lots of old beautiful houses. If you are unable to make the climb its still worth it to go as there is a lot to do around the monument including a nice museum and historical plaques surrounding it. If you are using public transportation the monument is a 10 minute walk from the Community College stop on the orange line. This is a great place rich with history, would recommend to any history buff.

293 steps after a day of walk along the brick line (freedom trail)! The high point of the trail. Maybe we should have started the route at this point (we started at Boston common)! The view is nice, but it was difficult to have the time to appreciate, because the area at the top is narrow, and there were a lot of people (in August). Gardens nearby are pleasant and perfect to take a rest after ;-) If you are not in a hurry, you can spend your time in a small museum at the bottom of the monument.

A must-see for American Revolution history buffs! Great to do as part of the Freedom Trail... it is the last stop so you may want to consider not climbing the steps (there are 294!!!) to the top. On weekends and summer days, it can get quite crowded and you dont really get much time at the top to admire the view. It is, after all, an obelisk and space is cramped. We had about 90 seconds before folks coming up made it too crowded to bear. And I hear that the stairwell is not always open.

Pretty monument with historical significance. The neighbourhood around is still maintained intact with historical architecture, old-fashion street lamps, etc... The monument is on top of hill and gives nice view of the streets running down with Bunker Hill Bridge and few skyscrapers of Boston in the backdrop! More importantly, this is one of the trailheads of the Freedom Trail. So it would be nice to start of with this monument and continue with your Freedom Trail experience.

I went on a beautiful morning, the best time to go is when the day is very clear. The monument is very high and offers a clear view of the city of Boston. Get ready to climb two hundred plus steps, but it is well worth it. Ask the park rangers to give your a little history lesson on the pictures depicting the battle that took place there at the birth of our nation. Amazing place to visit and since it is free, please leave a generous donation.

Attractive city view is very nice! If u visit the monument in fall, scene would be beautiful as well.

Free and worth a climb if you have time. Its a long climb to the top but you get a decent view South over Boston. Theres not a lot of room at the top and the windows are a little dirty but theres something quite satisfying about making your way up there. Just note theres no lift, its stairs all the way! If you turn up before 9:30am you can go straight in, after that you have to get a free, timed ticket from the museum opposite.

This is the last stop of freedom trail. The Bunker Hill Monument is located in the other side of Charles river, and the other side of Boston Harbor. We walked from the Boston Common all the way to the Bunker Hill Monument (the freedom trail) so we were the last two people who were allowed to go inside of the Bunker Hill Monument. Inside it we feel cold and dark. We climbed 294 steps in order to get the birds view of Boston.

Amazing view of the city which is well deserved after racing up the narrow steep steps! Make sure to come on a day that isnt too busy so you dont have to wait for people climbing up and down the stairs. Once you get to the top make sure to stop, catch your breath, and look around at the awesome view of Boston and much much more. I came with a friend and it was a great time! I would definitely climb the stairs here again!

Great view. Cool neighborhood. Check out the museum across the street FIRST where you need to get your ticket rather than walking straight to the monument. Some unclear signage and occasional unapologetic rangers, but also some very helpful and knowledgeable rangers at this NPS location. Try to run up all the stairs without stopping! Check out the revolutionary war artifacts in the museum.

The history surrounding the construction of the obelisk is interesting and if you are walking along the Freedom Trail it is worth checking out. A lot of the beauty can be appreciated from the outside. If you have bad knees it isnt worth climbing the stairs and fighting the crowds. Just peek in from the bottom to get a feel for what interior is like.

I was in the 7th grade my first time up and down the monument. My legs were so sore i had trouble walking. If you are physically weak, dont bother, but if you dont care and you are up for the challenge, go for it. The view is truly spectacular from up there. Mind your feet, the steps were built for midgets and it spirals around all the way to the top.
