A late winter or early spring walk is a very scenic time. I would say its one mile to the water and another half-mile up the beach to Rome point where the site is beautiful and harbor seals arrive this time of year. There is another path through the woods along the Mill Pond that takes you back to the main path near the parking lot. It is quite easy to follow this time of year but could be tricky when spring and summer growth returns. Wear your hiking boots because the trail is very Rocky and wet in some spots and perhaps some bottled water. Maybe almost a 4-mile hike.

Very cool place, way more interesting than I expected. Theres hard-packed, open, wide trails if you dont want to get too deep into the forest, and also some narrow trails winding through the woods if you like getting a little lost. Old ruins, a trolley line, an old trolley bridge, cedar forests, and a shell-covered beach thats a natural seawall between the bay and Bissel Cove. Great spot for adventurous types or those looking for a relaxing walk.

BEAUTIFUL! There are coyote, deer, fox...this place is loaded with exotic birds also because of its location. A lot of different paths, most lead to the rocky beaches. Love getting here around 5am. The sun comes up over Portsmouth its amazing. Fresh deer tracks along the water. Such an awesome place

Walked there today for with family and dogs. The trail is flat but a little rocky; woods are beautiful, with many birds. The view of the bay is lovely---Jamestown Bridge, Quonset, and lots of boats. A great place to spend two or three hours on a spring afternoon.

Well maintained gravel and dirt trails that lead to Narragansett Bay. Nice place for a low intensity hike. Shoreline is a little under a mile long with rocky beach. Not good for swimming but excellent for a picnic or just to sit.

This place was beautiful and not too busy. Its about a 15 minute walk to the water and then you can walk along the beach or some other cool trails along the water. A nice place to relax.

Hidden gem with gravel trail from parking lot to rocky beach. Went on a weekday in June and beach was empty. Lots of dog poop left on trail. Could use some trash cans at the parking lot.

I enjoyed the nature walk to the water. Walking along the water was awesome, too. I had my dog with me who enjoyed eating the crab legs...yuck! But Ill definitely be back!

Nice natural trail. Nice quite beach at the end. A good trail for cycle too. The narrow trail may get over crowded in a busy day.
