My wife and I tried to play course 1 there was no one around we were told that doubles couldnt play we waited no more golfers came had to leave seeing how course 2 was big time crowed. They used to let golfers play front nine on course 1 not no more so that sends older golfers to course 2 that makes it crowded playing nine can take a lot of time. Course 1 is often closed for maintenance( try to find someone doing it)or tournaments. near end of season my wife and I were able to play course 1. Course 1 is a good course till you get to hole 15 and it goes to mediocre . Hole 10 was all dug up by grubs someone forgot grubx just bring a lot of water and snacks or a lunch none available on course.Maybe with new director things will change a little. course 2 at beginning of season is ok but do to lack of watering it can turn to cement in the summer. Watch out for ticks course it is in the woods.this post is for my experience last year. New director comes this year( 2017) hope things change so people dont take there money to other courses. Dont worry about coyotes they love to watch golfers play. I played course 1and 2 this year course 2 is in good shape rain might b helping on hole 2 when fairway not cut witch is often you will not find your ball grass is 2 feet high hole 4 dont miss fairway u will be on hard dirt sand trap is hard sand grass and weeds 5-6 nice holes hole 7 nice par 3 but dont miss fairway or green u will lose ball hole 9 a nice hole. Back 9 hole 10 u will lose balls if u miss witch is easy no fairway for at least 150. Lets go to 12 nice hole if u stay out of woods and can keep it away from middle of fairway bout 160 seeing how its marked out of bounds because its under water on a hill. On course 2 dont put in bunker they r all grass and weeds hard sand course 2 will get a 2 1/2. Course 1 gets 3 1/2 would get better if they would cut clear out the weeds on hole 2 150 to carry swamp good bye balls with a miss. hole 10they moved tee back u have to carry a stream bout 160 downhill most golfer have to lay up or lose balls. Fairway is getting beat up again by birds looking for gurbs. On 14 will need to go 160 to hit fairway or else u r in deep wet for now grass bunker is a joke weeds hard sand also 15 is seeing grubs. At 17-18 they must have run out of money .course 1 is in good shape fairways r good but dont miss bring some extra balls I have seen a refreshment cart on 1 not on 2 and it was only when it was Friday when there r outings sew bring food and liquid just in case. Poison ivy is everywhere be careful look for 3 green leaves on plant plus ticks r real bad this year check yourself when u come out of woods coyotes and wild turkeys still like watching and also the geese

I will never play here again. The course could be great - its got "great bones" as they say about houses - but the upkeep is atrocious. Fairways ran the gamut from muddy to sandy to just plain NOT THERE - thats right, on two holes (the 17th being one) there were simply NO fairways, just a collection of weeds, crabgrass, and shorter rough down the middle of the hole. A few good holes along the back nine and a $30 weekend fee for 18 holes do not make up for the ABYSMAL wait times on every hole while playing behind very bad golfers who took 5-7 practice swings, only to hit 15-yard dribblers. This was the rule, rather than the exception, as I saw multiple groups with these sorts of players. Staff was friendly but not golf-intelligent, they are employees of the Dept of Conservation and Recreation as the course is on public land in the Blue Hills. There was one super cute girl at the snack bar, which was nice. Greens were good, rough was alright, sand traps were an embarrassment - not well-defined, concrete and rock showing through in some places. Also, a ton of blind tee shots which is really tough to deal with on a new course. There were also massive drainage pipes just sitting behind several greens, along with a large amount of standing water and muck. If you want to play a quick 9 after work, this might be ok, provided no one else is there, but Im guessing youll be dealing with a long wait for a very poorly maintained golf course.

Course doesnt deserve 1 star , but thats the lowest you can rate . Course #2 is an absolute disgrace. It is only May and they have already lost the greens. The Tee boxes... or lack there of are mostly dirt, and the ones that have so called grass, are 5 inches long . The fairways are all cart tracks, mud, rocks, and weeds. There are more divots than grass. There is no 1st or 2nd cut of rough. It is all 7 inches long no matter where it is. Now on to Course #1. They invested 7 million dollars into a so called revamp. The grounds crew has no idea how to properly maintain a golf course. The rough is so long it holds water which in turn makes everything sloppy. It has carried over into most of the fairways . Around the greens are terrible. There are rocks in the sand traps along with water and weeds. The greens and fringes are not maintained properly and are now showing signs of rapid deterioration. They surely will be lost and looking like course #2s shortly. So to sum this up. If you enjoy playing from mudd and gravel, and putting on greens that are as smooth as asphalt then this is the place for you. It is an absolute disgrace and waste of money. It looks like North Korea is using it as a nuclear test site. Oh and not to mention if you decide to hit the range, be prepared to hit balls that are undoubtedly from the 1990s.

This golf course is misleading. I went there with my father two weeks ago to play golf. We played course one and it was in decent condition, it was a good time and we looked forward to coming back. We came back yesterday course one was closed and course two was open. We figured that course two would be in the same condition as course one. We were very wrong. They could not pay me to play course two. The entire course was filled with dead grass, there were almost no fairways to speak of. I felt like I was playing golf on a course that was foreclosed years ago. On hole 15 or 16 I cant remember there was a literal patch of dirt and rock in the middle of a fairway! Also the course was so hard that we couldnt even put our tees in the ground without tremendous difficulty. They charged us 19 dollars for some of the worst golf I have had has the misfortune of playing. I can go on but you get the point that ponkapog two is a disgrace to golf. Who ever maintains that couse should look into the mirror every morning and feel shame. Course one is decent though if you cant play course one go home.
