It is hard to disagree with the previous poster re:bunkers, BUT. I blame the patrons as much as the staff. This is a beautiful course, well designed, (with the exception of holes 15 and 16, [not only do they not fit my eye, I would be hesitant to meet anyone whose eye they did fit]), greens and fairways in great shape (again, despite the best efforts of the patronage) and a friendly staff; but back to the bunkers. Generally unraked. While I have not been in all of them, I havent noticed any with sand deficiencies,( though some had wedge eating rocks in them). Why wont people rake up after themselves? Why wont people fix their own ballmarks AND at least one extra? Lazy. Of course the people from around here are the ones always returning Barney Frank and (until they couldnt) Fat Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy to DC every election.

Ive been an Acushnet resident for over 20 years. I was excited when Acushnet was going to have a public course in town. For the most part the course is a nice track. Id say its in good shape for a public course minus the bunkers that everyone complains about. However why not take care of Acushnet residents? If they did a resident only special lets say $40 and a cart Mon.-Fri., and maybe $45-$50 on weekends and holidays I am confident they could increase profits. Instead allot of us in the golfing community take our greens fees to other courses. My friends and I play 15-25 rounds a year, maybe 2 of those rounds are at River Valley because of there rates. Why arent we making money like Whale, Lakeville, Back 9 with a clubhouse? Acushnets missing the boat here!!!

I have to agree with everyone about the bunkers. Large rocks and pebbles--kind of dangerous. And every time we play, which is always in the morning, we are told "we are running a little late". We are wondering if they "squeeze in" members in the morning. The front usually starts out with a back-up, but then after a few holes its okay. The back is so wide open there are balls flying everywhere. Sorry, guys...please keep the ball in your own fairway--and it causes major backups--over 5 hours to play. I really love this course, but hesitate to go back because of slow play.

I have always thought highly of this course.. No more.. The bunkers are a complete mess.. Not raked (ever) all grown up and in with weeds, a lack of sand, etc... no good reason.. we discussed this with the staff.. They said they have complained, but management has decided to save money and is letting the bunkers go... So, I guess this course is off our rotation for awhile until they get their act together.... Too bad.. It was always on of our favorites..

The Course is always in good shape. Greens are fair not lightning fast but not tortoise slow either. Staff is friendly fun, Tough , Fair golf course. If your a mid handicapper you can feel proud of your round if you break 90 from the blues. In order to do so you will have to play smart golf. The price after 2 on the weekends makes this a steal.

Excellent course, very challenging for all skill levels. The staff is friendly and customer oriented...hard to find in a public golf course. Well maintained fairways and greens...its always a pleasure to play this course. The only negative for me is the lack of a club house.

I love this golf course, well maintained, fun to play. However, they never answer the phone. Three weekends in a row, I have wanted to book a tee time and no one answered, sometimes their voicemail is full so you cant even leave a message. Hope they will fix this.

Ive played the course several times this summer and fall. Its one of the nicer public courses around, but they need to do something to speed up play. Several rounds have exceeded 4.5 hours in length, which is inexcusable for such a relatively short course.

Holiday rates on the 3rd of July, Course is in great shape! Staying out of the woods speeds up your round, goes without saying.
