Me and my children, grandkids, mom, husband, and my newlyweds sister and brother in law came to enjoy a day out. At first it was delightful ,after an hour this one group began to sniff drugs and smoke drugs, they were playing music with profanity and drinking alcohol. I had several questions from grandkids. I then took ALL my grandkids down to the waters to get away from it all. When we came back we packed up and left because these people were still smoking stinky drugs without concern for our family. Ill NEVER come again to this location and Ill definitely let everyone I know these issues I had. These issues need to be straightened out sooner than later.. Im so disappointed. Gunpowder Falls State Park Hammerman location is a beautiful area for a relaxing getaway. It has a nice beach overlooking the Gunpowder River. The new blue building contains a lifeguard station, Riverside Grille concession stand, and Ranger Station. This location also has Ultimate Water Sports where you can rent kayaks, go windsurfing, sail boarding, and stand up paddle boarding. It is an awesome place to walk, jog, or ride your bike. There are many picnic tables and charcoal grills throughout the park as well as at the beach.

This is my favorite location for a run. Challenging hills, beautiful views, and not too rocky. You also have the option of running along the river for a flat run or hike as well. Great for river/ creek swimming or kyaking/ tubing if that is more up your alley. I see a lot of mushroom hunters in the spring, and lots of people birdwatching. Kids, adults and dogs all seem to love it here. Busy on Sundays but I have never felt overwhelmed with foot traffic.

I was there yesterday with 10 teenagers- they and I had a blast! We rented tubes from Monkton Bike (bring cash) and headed up the trail. The other two 40something moms and I did not kill ourselves getting into the river via a steep slope but it was a close one. Once on the river it was a relaxing, joyful time to reconnect without electronic devices. We picnicked at the tables by the station afterward. Great day.

A favorite of my childhood, growing up nearby. Great activities, playgrounds for children, venues to rent for gatherings with grills. The beach center in the Hammerman area was renovated a few years back and is a great place for summer swimming. Kayak and other rentals are available for watersport at reasonable rates. The fishing area and trails are great places to spend any afternoon.

Great place for walking in nature, hiking, taking your dog here, swimming, even taking your dog for a swim. Loved watching tons of butterflies around us. Its peaceful. Great place to take your family, kids, anyone. Dont recommend someone that isnt steady on their feet because there are inclines and can be muddy etc.

Fantastic hiking trails for people and dogs. Trails on both sides of Gunpowder Falls. Weekdays are considerably less crowded than weekends. 1 mile to the pot rocks from the parking lot and a short trip uphill from there to the overlook. Beautiful place to see the leaves change colors. Well maintained and trash free.

i always enjoy hiking gunpowder along the river or N.C.R./T.C.B trail there is always something new to see even if it is the same trails.i am a former volunteer ranger with Gunpowder it was the best time in the world try it and see for your self PARK IT

Excellent park to hike. Great trails that are well maintained and lovely area near the river. It is easy walking. If you can shop in a Mall for a few hours, you can walk the trails. No excuses.

Great place! I go here with my dad and sister all the time to swim. But, some of the waters have snakes. Thats The only Thing Taking Off A Star. But, still a good place to go with your family!

Well blazed and packed trails. Clean. If Loch Raven has released (no release schedule), the Big Gunpowder Falls is navigable for canoes and kayaks all the way to the Chesapeake Bay.

Nice hiking location, getting to the point of being constantly over crowded, not enough parking. The trail is in good shape overall though, and they do a good job keeping things nice.

Pretty nice park. I just got to hike up to the pot rocks and not see the falls because I made the mistake of taking my fat bike on the trail but it got pretty impassible at points.
