I have mixed reviews about this place because it is a BEAUTIFUL space and has/had reasonable prices but the person in charge is horrible. This review is long overdue and something triggered me to look it up and see if there were any reviews yet. Well one of the reviews mirrors what I experienced. Im praying that by now they have gotten a new Point of Contact person, I also was tempted to see if there was a way for me to run the place but didnt know who I could talk to or complain about Mr. Conyer. For someone who has to constantly deal with people, he has no social skills from what I could tell. Firstly, it took forever to get someone to return my calls/emails and the person that was originally on the site had just left (Im sure it was because she couldnt deal working with him). Finally I was able to get in touch with him and we set an appointment to look at the space. My sister and I met with him and he was very short and rude with us but I was sold on the space. We were throwing our parents a 50th Anniversary Party and I was excited at what we could do with the space. My sister left everything to me because she didnt want to deal with him. Everytime I contacted Mr. Conyer about something it was as if I was bothering him, closer to the event I had to meet with him to give him the liquor license which was a hassle all in itself. The day before I met with him to get the key to the building as no one would be available or on site the day of the party. The party went well and towards the end someone came by looking for him because they had an event there some weeks back and could not get back in touch with him to get their deposit back. Well unfortunately he wasnt there and we began comparing notes about how bad it was to work with him. At the end of the night we finished cleaning up and I believe left the key somewhere or maybe I mailed it back. Well of course I never got my deposit back either which I am still salty about to this day, but like I said I didnt know who this man reported to and I just wanted to be done with him. I gave it three stars because I love the place but hated working with that man and never got my $250 back. This was in 2013 so Im praying that by now they have someone new running things, someone who actually likes people and wants to be bothered.

I have never left an online review because its difficult to judge the motive, accuracy, or validity of a complaint. I dont judge businesses by them and perhaps you dont either. But, this is an absolute last ditch effort due to breach of contract and seriously lacking client service. Do not use this facility for your event. The POC is completely inept at returning phone calls, emails, texts, or returning messages left on the answering machine, which states they will be returned within 72 hours. It is 2015. A 72-hour turn-around time for ANY business is unacceptable...but when that time frame isnt even met (ever), Im left curious how its surviving. Our contract was in full-breach by the Village Commons Community Center as our refundable deposit of $250 was not returned within 60 working day. Im unsure how this time frame is acceptable (its pretty much a quarter of a year to return a check), and have noticed that the new contract states 30 working days. Our check was mailed and received after countless failed attempts to connect with the POC and facility in general...75 working days post-event. The POC was late during both of our visits pre-event and had a serious attitude when dealing with my wife, who after waiting 25 minutes with a 1-year old in the rain was right to be annoyed--that bordered misogynistic. If we hadnt locked in and signed the contract, we would have gone elsewhere. Responses to the contract breach were never received and we reported the center to the BBB, who also received zero responses "after multiple attempts." The BBB has rated the Village Commons Community Center an "F" and Id encourage anyone seeking a facility to consider other venues in the area.

I used this venue for my baby shower a few months ago. The coordinator of the venue was extremely helpful and made planning for the party easier! The venue is large and priced very well compared to other smaller venues in the area. It has a mini kitchen, clean bathrooms, a dance floor, TV with cable, and not to mention a wonderful view of the lake and fountain. The venue has plenty of parking since it is in the Waugh Chapel shopping center. All my guests were wowd by the venue and we received plenty of complements on the size. I will be using this venue for future parties!.

I planned an event with the Village Commons Community Center last June. The customer service was excellent and exceeded my expectations. The room has plenty of space to host a great event. Going through several walk-thrus with the staff I was impressed at the attention to detail that was given to make my event a night to remember. If you are looking for a space to have your event and a place that will meet your needs from space, price, accommodations and customer service, I highly recommended contacting the Village Commons Community Center.

Hosted my parents anniversary party here with about 115 guests on a hot July night and it was great. We had a huge buffet, a bar, and handful toddlers running around, and no one felt cramped. Plenty of room to spread out. I highly recommend this space if you have 100+ guests to entertain. The website is very basic and they dont answer their phone, so your best bet is to stop by on a weekend when someone is likely preparing for an event.
