My wife and I have been customers of David McGuire for almost 20 years now. We have purchased multiple works of art from him and visit his downtown Frederick gallery on a regular basis. He is extremely knowledgeable, resourceful and personable, too! I think he wins the award for "Nicest Business Owner in Frederick"! His gallery is centrally located in Historic Downtown Frederick on Patrick Street close to multiple restaurants, shops, and antique dealers. (a perfect location if you are considering a short trip to visit downtown) It is unique to Frederick in the variety of artwork he displays for purchase, as well as eclectic decor items, handmade craft items and jewelry. He provides many choices for the art seeker in you, in all price ranges, from prints to one of a kind originals. We have never been disappointed in a purchase from David. He has always calmly given us a variety of choices and good advice when we have sought artwork for our home or business, or when we have just wandered in and fell in love with an artists work or a certain piece or two that speaks to us (never the high pressure tactics that you may experience from other art dealers). His attitude is that he is there to serve you, the customer, not just push another art piece out the door. He has helped us over the years to meet several amazing artists, and to find new works of art, including collectible art works, that we would not have been able to find otherwise. Also, he has always guided us through the second most difficult portion of purchasing a piece of artwork, which is the custom framing!! He has a huge variety of frames available, including hand carved, beautiful framing that can also be used to make very decorative custom mirrors for your home or office. He has fabricated all sorts of display solutions for us for our artwork, ceramic pieces, photographs, and collectibles over the years, and they are all beautiful and unique. His strong expertise and many years of experience definitely make him the best framer.....period! His rates for framing are also usually much lower than comparable framers further down the road in the DC or suburban DC area. I know that many people, including decorators, travel to his store from long distances to have framing done for all of these reasons! I would highly recommend that you stop in to his gallery and meet him!! You wont be disappointed!

I have visited David McGuires Art Gallery so many times since I moved to Frederick 4 years ago. I so enjoyed just stopping in and seeing what was new. I never really talked to anyone though, except maybe a hello - no pressure from them, look all you want. Around 2 years ago I fell in love with and bought an old piece of art at Cannon Antiques. Last Fall I moved to a new apartment and knew that I really had to address the falling apart frame before I hung it again. So I stopped in the gallery and actually met David, my fairly large artwork in tow. Long story short, he told me what I had (an engraving) in this old frame, and then helped me choose a new frame and mat. Several weeks later I picked it up; its so beautiful now. Since then I have taken two watercolors (one at a time!) to him for their FIRST custom framing (one Ive had for 41 years) and have plans to take one more from my small personal collection of "not valuable art, just art that I love for various reasons." I never planned on doing more than the first, but every time I brought one home I knew I should just keep going. Every single one is so "right" now, finally framed to bring out its own special beauty -- and done within my budget. David is really good at what he does -- he has a vision when framing that I really enjoyed and learned from. Best of all, he is a really, really nice, down-to-earth person, with a little bit of wit thrown in. If youve never stopped in his gallery, you should, he brings in really interesting art. And, if you can use his services, all the better.

Davids team is not only professional and highly talented, they are personable and fair. After having two of our art pieces reframed by them, we were extremely impressed with the process as well as the end result. We then decided this is the place to take all of our artwork. We highly recommend everyone to use them. You will not be disappointed.

David McGuire is a highly qualified framer, capable of the highest standards of preservation framing, as needed by museums. But his sense of aesthetics grant him an ability to make very tasteful recommendations for your own framing needs. His gallery hold fine art you might consider for your own home, and he attracts artists of note.

Just had a challenging piece framed - my boyfriend bought a real section of the original floor from Cole Field House. My first time framing with McGuires. Dave (owner) was very approachable, process was easy and actually had fun designing it (with his help). Warm, welcoming, AND...best of all, my boyfriend LOVES it!
