Im an art major so I might be slightly biased, but this is by far one of the best sculpture gardens Ive wandered through. The artwork seemed purposeful to me here. It wasnt just a bunch of abstract hodge-podge scrap sculptures thrown together and called "art" that the average person could not appreciate. This place was just really really nice! It was a garden as well as an outdoor museum, which added to it. The fountain in the middle is just huge! and plenty of seating on and around it as well. It wasnt busy when I went on a Sunday and could thoroughly enjoy it. Theres a little something for everyone from metal to rock to wicker to you name it. Things that make sense to things that dont make sense to things that should make sense but blow your mind!. If you happen to be out on the Mall, then a stroll through here should definitely be on your to do list

Favorite restaurant in D.C.! Yes, it is simple sandwiches, but they are great! And the desserts are out of this world! We actually plan our visits to museums and memorials to include this restaurant at least twice for every trip we have made to D.C. This last time in February 2016 we were treated to not only a great lunch and dinner on two separate days , but an awesome experience with the albino squirrel that has also adopted this restaurant as home! This squirrel has become so friendly with people, it will come right up to you asking for food. Words cannot describe how wonderful this restaurant is and the squirrel was just an added bonus!

Visited during the summer so it was a pond. Need to get away from the busy mall? Come cool down and relax here! Tons of trees for shade, nice fountain to easily dip your feet in. There is a cafe nearby that you can buy a drink and some snacks, although rather expensive. Search online for local concerts playing here. There was a jazz concert when I visited and it was the perfect relaxing end to a long day of walking.

This place rocks. The kids were tired of walking and the museums were starting to get really crowded. We stumbled across this place on our way to the national history museum. The kids were able to sit down in the shade and watch the fountain. They also loved looking at all the sculptures. If you want to take a load off the feet and relax for a little this place is perfect.

Not kid friendly The staff said that if a kid falls you cannot pick them up. They expect a hurt two year old to get up and skate off the ice. There is a big difference between comforting a child while stationary holding the side for thirty seconds, and carrying them while skating around. Their rules here do not allow such a distinction. Save your money and skate elsewhere.

Beautiful outdoor garden. Easily one of the top public spaces in DC, the Sculpture Garden is so beautiful and a great way to take a break and relax while you take in some beautiful art pieces. The garden cafe offers some bites with indoor or outdoor dinning. The garden is absolutely adorable in the winter with the ice rink and lighting put up.

Absolutely loved my experience in the Ice Rink. The staff was so engaging and kind. I love to ice skate (not an expert) and this is the perfect place to enjoy the sculpture, the music and the great environment. One of my first experiences in DC and one of the best so far. So dont hesitate to go and skate, there is not much time left. ⛸

Beautiful little garden to see some unique artwork, sit and relax, or people watch. Ive only visited this place once, and Im not sure if the artwork changes over time. Regardless, it makes for some nice pictures! Check it out, especially if youre visiting the National Mall in Washington, DC. Its a short walk-through... but very nice.

This outdoor sculpture area is easily missed by all the tourists, but its a lovely space with a mix of contemporary sculptures, including a Sol Lewitt piece. Cafe and live music add a touch of delight and charm; good place to relax after a long day around the museums.

This is a must-do D.C. experience. This small-ish space turns into a charming ice rink that affords an intimate experience for skilled skaters and learners alike. Street parking on the weekends is typically doable.

I learned how to ice skate here for the first time. Everyone was having fun and checked on me when I needed help. Its bigger and cheaper than the rink in Georgetown. I was there in January when it was -12C degrees.

A great place to be any time of year. A wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sculpture when the weather is warm. Im not an ice skater, but its still fun to watch the skaters when the rink is in place.

The fountain is very round, just how I like it. It has a wide flat lip for sitting down and admiring the surrounding area. It is encircled with well maintained trees. Very nice!

Great for a walkthrough, mind the hours, they change by time of year and special events. Ice skating is a great deal, get 2 hours on ice and rentals for less than $10.

Great location for an ice rink. Stop by before or after you head to one or some of the musems. Sit down at the cafe and grab a hot drink at the nearby cafe.

Love Jazz in the garden on Fridays! The sangria is amazing and putting your feet in the pool is the best way to start the weekend.

Fun place for outdoor ice skating! Unfortunately the cafe was closed when we were here, hot cocoa would have made this perfect!

I go almost every Friday in the summer for Jazz in the garden. Get there early to score a prime spot in the shade.
