I have done the Evan Williams Experience bourbon tour twice. At the time of this review they have been open about two years and the place is immaculate (clean, shiny, and new looking). Located on the historic Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, it is easy to get a sense of the history behind the location before you even walk through the door. Being as this is located downtown, dont expect the full distillery experience you would get at say, Jim Beam in Clermont. Instead youll be treated to a high tech, immersive tour that focuses more on the history behind the bourbon in Louisville through the story of Evan Williams himself and his namesake brand. Both trips, I ended up in the "mad men" tasting room, which is ultra cool----they should rent these rooms out to private parties! If you are in Louisville and are looking for something to do---this is a must. Dont forget to pick up your Bourbon Trail passport---this stop makes a good starting point if you are looking to travel the trail.

We have loved the last 4 tours weve been on but we arrived too late to take their tour and get back to our home base. So we went upstairs to make a few purchases (over $120) and began to ask some questions. The woman didnt really want to answer and tried to be very vague so we gave up. Tried to ask the guy about Evan Williams and Elijah Craig since we had been on the Heaven Hill tour the day before, but he said those questions could have been answered had we taken the EW tour!!! Pretty snooty at this place. Dont bother with this one but definitely go on the Makers Mark and Jim Beam tours, very nice people at both. Heaven Hill was good too, twice as expensive and very brief. Bullitt was good too.

As a novice bourbon consumer I found the Evan Williams "experience" to be a great way to learn some bourbon history and get a chance to sample a few varieties of bourbon. The tour was about an hour long and it was pretty informative. While this is not the main manufacturing site, they do small batch distilling onsite so you can get a feel for the process. Of course the tour ends in the gift shop offering tons of Evan Williams branded products, not just bourbon. Lastly, it appears they rent the place out for corporate events as they have a large private room in the basement.

Pretty cool tour through the facility. The historical stuff is a little cheesy, but different than some of the other distillery tours in the area. Our tour guide (his name escapes me at the moment) was very good, and the 60s era tasting room at the end was pretty neat. Good variety of stuff in the gift shop, and the tour guide told us up front that we could get their bourbon for less money around town than there at the gift shop. Worth a visit if youre interested in bourbon.

This is the best distillery/brewery tour Ive ever been on. The thought and quality that went into telling the story is impressive. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and happy to be there to talk about bourbon. I havent been to any of the other bourbon tours in Kentucky, but I cant imagine they can top this one. It is totally worth the admission!

Easily the high production value of any of the distillery/bottling/barreling tours I did while in and around Kentucky. Its a great tour, and even greater for being so different than the others, but it does lack some of the realism of other tours since they do very little distilling/bottling here at the downtown location. The gift shop is great, too!

Very cool and interesting tour! I liked how they incorporated live-like projections and time period scenery into the tour. We got to try 3 bourbons (aged 4years, 8 years, and 12 years) and the bourbon chocolate was yummy! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Only $12 a person, which is very reasonable.

Mixed feelings here. The place is a great educational experience. But not what I would call a true distillery. Yes there is a small modern still there but more of a display. No free take home from the tour but lots to buy. Some of the stuff in the store is very cool.

This place is awesome! Im not too knowledgeable when it comes to Bourbon, however the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience introduced the history and evolution of whiskey and bourbon in a rich/fun interactive environment. And you get to taste their different batches.

This place is great! Dont let the outside or the modem lobby fool you. Youll be transported back in time and learn a lot about bourbon in general but also about Evan Williams. We also got a taste of a $130/bottle bourbon! A must see in Louisville!

Scott our tour guide was great, but if youre looking for several tastings then this is not the tour for you. You gets lots of good info and history but only get 1/3 Oz of taste of 3 different bourbon. Great location and a good time.

I did a tasting here with my family and the lady that started the tour was pretty rude. But thankfully she just led us to the tasting area. The actual tasting was great! A great history lesson.

I will never visit Evan Williams again. Theres no character like other distilleries. The staff was quite rude. Its bottom of the barrel bourbon anyways.

It was more historical than I thought it would be and I loved that. Very well done, fun and interactive. The tasting was also very good.

Overpriced bourbon. Its not even good bourbon. Good gift ideas for out of towners, but aside from that, no reason to visit.
