Food: Overall I would give the food an 8/10, with the bacon jam cheese fries taking a solid 10/10. The tapatio wings were great as well, but could have had a tad more crispiness. We also got a few of the tacos, with the mushroom and the pork belly taking the prize, (although the chicken was great too). The cod fillet was a little overwhelming for the taco, but not bad. Beer: the Zadar was okay, and the Russian Imperial Stout a little better for my liking, but I was very impressed with the Boomtown (lager?), as it was very pleasing. The house beers had good selection that was supplemented well with a variety of "guest taps." Atmosphere: I wasnt sold on the open seating, serve yourself concept; but given everything going on I feel it works. There was a live band (Soul Sherpa) when we were there, which was a great touch. It fit well with the atmosphere of the place. Also the game room with shuffleboard, foosball, etc was pretty cool. Overall I would give a 4.4, not quite enough to round up to a 5, but a very solid 4.

Been here 3 times now. Solid beer selection (although concerning that they were out of their BGB IPA on Friday), with additional beer from other breweries as well! (some bartenders pour beer better than others... ) - havent tried their cocktails and wine (not sure why you would at a brewery... unless youre desperate). But WOW! great ping pong tables and shuffle board. Even a foos ball table (although they were playing with a ping pong ball - not sure where the foos ball went...). And great beer selection - lots of styles - over 10+ options on tap. Huge space - came with 10+ friends and we fit very comfortable - its like 2 basketball courts put together - and theres outdoor space too. Only issue would be with the food - I had a great experience this last time with the burger and salad. But previously - had a poor experience with their asian inspired beef sandwich and fries. Was expecting more given what I had heard about the Solon location..

What a great addition to the downtown Iowa City area! We loved Big Groves first restaurant located in Solon, so we were thrilled to hear about their expansion closer to our Iowa City home! They have a huge location with lots of seating, which is great because they are always busy. They have two bars and plenty of severs, so even when its busy you still get good service. Indoor they have several TVs if youre trying to catch a game, and outdoor they have lots of patio seating and several fire pits for cozy nighttime fun! Their beer and cocktails are really great too! They offer both tap craft beer and a full bar! We have yet to try the food at this location, but if its anything like their Solon restaurant, then Im sure it is delicious! I highly recommend everything Big Grove. You dont want to miss this new Iowa City hot spot!

Excellent variety of house-made beers. Steer clear of the hoppy beers (except the "De Facto Pale Ale" which has an excellent pine character) and from the "Zadar!" nitro milk stout (unless you like sweet beers). All of the others are impressively made given Iowas hard water profile. I think the "Sidehill Sour Summer Jam" is good enough to win awards. They were out of the "Que Onda Roja" while I was there, but the bartender tracked down a ~2oz taster for me, and it was an immensely interesting beer; never had anything like it. Food looks great, but I didnt eat any. Next time.

Was a nice relaxing place. Nice and open, great place to hang out with friends. I wasnt a fan of the food I got but I would love to go back and try something new. I also tried beer and not a beer fan I really liked the sour beer!

Good food. Expensive for small portions. Dislike how if you eat you have a drink server and you cant pay for drinks at a bar. Waited 30 minutes for our server to get us back the check due to the large area he was covering.

Great time with friends playing: ping pong and shuffleboard. Amazing atmosphere with outside seating with fire pits (5). Somewhat a limited food menu (order and pickup at the window). Overall great beer and atmosphere!

Great place to just hang out. Order food at the counter. Tons of ping-pong, shuffleboard and foosball. Huge outdoor seating area with gas fire pits. Our kids loved it!
