I went to tour the LST-325 a few weeks ago with my father. The tour was great! My Dad and I got to bond together more, and it was an overall fun experience. Our guide went into great detail about everything to help us all get to know how it was like to be in the LST-325 during wartime. He also was able to tell us about the history of the LST ships in general. The tour went through many part of the LST-325 and we got to see a lot! This includes the vehicles aboard the ship, the cafeteria (you could actually buy food there when it is open), the crews sleeping quarters, and more! Before the tour, the lobby was a pleasant waiting area. There was a lot of well placed merchandise to buy and I felt like I needed to buy it all! I settled on just a blue wristband with "LST-325" engraved into it. The cashiers where friendly when we bought it, too. In the waiting room, there was a television that showed the history of the LST ships in general. It was short and looped, however. It was still interesting to watch, though! They even had chairs in front of the television. Overall, touring the LST-325 was a brilliant experience to have! I am glad we went there, and it makes me want to tour more ships from wars!

The U.S. LST-325 is the last of over 1,000 tank transport vessels built during World War II. Evansville built many of the war ships during that war. This particular vessel, # 325, participated in the D-Day invasion of France, at Normandy, in the second wave at Omaha Beach. Germany had no comparative vessel, helping the Americans to turn the table on the Germans. The vessel later participated in landing tanks, trucks, troops, other military hardware and munitions to fight Germany in the Battle of the Bulge, Africa, the Pacific theater and other locations. Discussions is the roles of Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, workers in the shipyards, including women, were fascinating. The tour of the ship is fascinating and very informative. The tour guide knew his subject material inside and out, and made the tourists feel like they were there, at war landings. Dont miss the tour. It is very well worth the $10 fee.

This deserves 10 stars! Got to visit this on Labor Day in Nashville. What a treat and an honor. Its amazing to get such a real, up close and personal experience like this. The incredible gentlemen that host this tour are amazing. So polite, attentive, respectful, kind, informative... Ill be here for days describing them. They are SO knowledgeable of this ship and stories about it. They take the time to explain things clearly. No question is too dumb. Never felt rushed. My kids loved it too, ages 9-19. No documentary could provide such a personal experience, especially from such a humble, witty and serving group of men like these!! Excellent time!! Gives you goosebumps when you realize you are walking on and actually visiting history! Thankful for our servicemen!

I toured with two gentlemen who served on her. My boys were 7 and. 8. Former naval officers spoke of what she (LST) had been through. They also spoke of Normandy. At the end of the tour is when they told my boys she was built here in Evansville. Whirlpool. Where papa makes washers? They laughed. You know the Pledge to the Flag when you put your hand on your heart? That is the Allegiance. When needed everybody does whatever they can. The squirrel on frosty says like that. RED SKELETON 7yr, shoke my kids hands and thank you for letting them talk to a new generation.

Visited LST 325 while she was docked in Pittsburgh over the Labor Day weekend (2015). She is in superb condition and the tour was a delight. The staff/crew were more than eager to explain anything and take the time with you to share details. The vessel does not have air conditioning (except in Officers Country) but they had plenty of floor fans moving the air around in other parts of the ship. There was a nice gift shop with souvenirs and books set up in the main hold forward. Definitely a GREAT tour which will take you about 35 minutes minimum. Highly recommend!

A must see tour if you are in the area. As the last WWII LST and such an important ship class for amphibious landings, this ship is near the top of my list of ships I have visited. The ship is in good order and the staff was exceptionally knowledgeable and gave a solid tour. Tour cost was nominal and free for active duty personnel. Two thumbs up from this retired sailor.

Visited this site on December 26 and learned a little about the history of WWII. This is an interesting story, certainly a proud exhibit for the community. I am a docent at Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front Historical Park in Richmond, CA and am always looking for new stories about this period of history.

Way cool step back in time to enjoy something that people REALLY showed ALOT of TLC in overseeing for a lot of years. There are quite a few steps to get to everything the vessel has to offer..but a ridiculously awesome way to honor the men and woman of our armed services! Support this one!

John, our tour guide in Evansville did an outstanding job. The LST 325 was really in great condition .. being the child of a Navy World War II veteran made it even more interesting.
