I only gave one star because they made me give something. I stayed here with my fiancé when I was in town for work. I work for a music website where I attended events and write about them/review them. Neither of us smoke - and never have. However, after coming home from the event our clothes smelt horrible (nothing new - used to this). So we would bag them up each night to keep the smell from getting into our other clothes. Anywho, we were charged DOUBLE the price of our room for "smoking in the room" - which is INSANE! Not only because we DIDNT smoke in the room but how expensive it was in general. When I tried to speak to someone about the matter, no manager was on duty for 12 hours. They refused to provide me with any contact info, and told me I had to contact cooperate. When I contacted cooperate, I was told I needed to contact the hotel because each location is independently owned and operated. When I finally spoke to someone they said that the charge was because they had to clean the room to get rid of the smell, and I explained that we never EVER smoked in the room. 1. We dont smoke. 2. If we did, we would have stayed some place that allowed smoking and 3. If I would have known that simply the smell of our clothes was enough to charge us double - we would have left them in the car each night. So not only were we wrongly accused, profiled by our tattoos/piercings and reason for staying, but the employees refused to take the matter seriously or professionally handle our situation. We were definitely taken advantage of. We travel often for work and have NEVER had an issue like this at any other place weve stayed at. We are appalled at how unprofessional Hilton proved to be.

Was treated terrible by check in staff, because I didnt have my AAA card physically with me. I was told she had to see the actual card when my number "was" on the reservation when I booked but somehow got erased. then somehow I got 3 authorizations on my credit card somehow..one of them being 2 days after my stay. So for a $130 room for one night I had a total of $480 hold on my credit card for 3 days, never had that happen at any hotel. After I questioned the 2nd charge with the same rude lady at front desk I went back to my room (all the way at the other end of the hotel) to find my key card magically quit working, Hotel did not appear to be busy but we were put in a room at the very back of the hotel that was loud...hmmm, feel like none of this was accidental. I travel almost every weekend and have never had an experience like this at any hotel, all I can say is wow, Worst Hilton experience ever! By the way the cookies they are serving are not "the cookie" which is the main reason I stay at double tree, I would much rather stay at another Hilton hotel bc they are usually more modern than the doubletrees, the cookie is one of the best thing they have going for them. This hotel did look very clean and well maintained, rooms are large too.. just terrible terrible customer service.

HOUSEKEEPING THEFT !!! Everyone out there please STAY AWAY from this hotel by DOWNER GROVE !!!!!!!! I stayed here for business conference trip. Left my anniversary fountain pen on the study table went back to my room during the conference break in the morning found out that my pen had gone missing !!!! They checked their CCTV the only person been to my room was the housekeeper. They came back after the investigation took place for at least a week - "The housekeeper havent seen the Pen and i should have kept it in the safe !!!!!! Really ???!!!! Mention about the customer service it was HORRIBLE !!! phone transferring to the manager which the manager never pick up the phone and take ages to get back to me. The biggest problem was they DID NOT want to replace the pen !!! they push us to their insurance company and they say WE WILL NOT REPLACE THE PEN BECAUSE YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT THE PEN IN THE SAFE !!!!!! after this incident I would not stay in ANY hotel that run under HILTON network work or personal trip !!!! i think we should have kept our socks in the safe from no on !!!!!

The layout is kind of neat (all rooms surrounding an internal atrium), and the room was comfortable. The TVs are a bit outdated (who still has tube TVs these days?), and the bathroom seemed a little cramped with the door layout. Biggest negative for me was that the desk staff seemed... haughty. They were not accommodating, and I felt like they were looking down their noses at me whenever I engaged them. Another big negative was the language barrier communicating with the woman who answered the phone for room service. English was obviously not a comfort zone for her, and I struggled to understand her, and get her to understand me (and ended up getting a wrong item because of it!). Those two items are, in my mind, a contradiction... Can you really be haughty if your staff cant even communicate with the customer? Add to this the fact that I am a "diamond" customer, and it is unfortunate that I would rather stay at the Westin just down the street (where I have no "status").

Im a Diamond member with the Hilton Group and as a result of that I usually get decent upgrades and perks when I try to stay at any of the Hilton hotels. The Double Tree in Downers Grove looked unsanitary, my iron did not work, half of the towels in the bathroom had colorful spots of them, the AC/heating unit was unbelievably loud to the point it would wake me up at nights and the best of all, THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD EVERY NIGHT FOR THAT DAY. Obviously this hotel is having some serious financial issues and thats why they need every dime on DAILY BASIS. As a result of constant similar charges, two of my credit cards were disabled by my credit card companies assuming that there were fraudulent activities and charges are being made. There are many other reputable hotels in this area. AVOID THIS ONE!!! Hilton should take their franchise away!!!!

This has been the worse experience I have ever had with Hilton. I travel extensively for business and have been loyal to the Hilton brand for the past 4 years. As a matter of fact I have stayed at this property every year for the previous 4. I had trouble with my reservation. Saying I had trouble was a complete understatement. We have no wifi, and while I was laying in bed reading I adjusted the blankets and a hair ball got tangled in my fingers. Seriously it was tangled in my fingers. It was dark hair Im blonde. Definitely not mine. The front desk has been unhelpful and unwelcoming. I travel so much that it is important for me to feel a sense of home when I check into a Hilton. This has been so horrible. I have been let down on so many levels. Next weekend I will be trying out the Marriott. Never thought this day would come:(
