Second trip second review I really enjoyed netherworld the first year I went through and as such couldn’t wait to go back a second time (even went twice in one year but more on that in a bit) this addresses the haunt as it stood in 2010 with the gargoyle dead salvage theme The first trip we made was in very early October as the crowds were what caused my only problems with it on the previous trip. Because they do even by their own admittance push you through like cattle. I hoped going earlier would eliminate this problem but no such luck. The lines were still immense (not boring though) and you still got pushed through like a cattle drive. The crowds aren’t entirely netherworlds fault as an experienced haunt worker I know how irritating pacing can be and the stress that comes from running a haunt for long periods of time near a strobe, fake fog, ect. The themes I was honestly let down by especially dead salvage. I was following the story with great interest and the concept of the mangler (a trademark netherworld character) upgrading zombies in an abandoned salvage yard while bulldog (another character) came in to track him down sounded wonderfully twisted. Sad truth is had I not read the story the only thing that would’ve come across is junkyard the mangler and non-upgraded zombies. There was no bulldog not in the house and he lacked a presence in the parking lot like he had, had the year before. The zombies were simply zombies my fanboyish dreams of seeing a robot zombie hybrid killing machine were not realize that night. It’s not like it ruined my evening but I do wonder why they put such a great effort into the story withought putting that much into the house The second haunt gargoyle was fun and far bigger than dead salvage (the story communicated about as well though) it may just be me but I think setting up a scene that requires groups participation would solve the problem of pacing and the story in one fell swoop but then again I don’t run the house. The experience was still top notch and scary effects amazing and actors splendid. Now for the bad the first time wasn’t bad as I said we had gone in early October but then my friends wanted to go the weekend of Halloween and let me tell you night and day experience. If my trip Halloween had been my first I very well may not have returned the place was packed the lines wrapping even farther around the building than the live actors and djs would go to entertain you. The houses were full both of actors and guest forget being able to see one or two groups at a time your subjected to being crammed but to gut with complete strangers and even though you start at a decent pacing apart you end up standing single file shuffling through each house. In gargoyle I literally wound up standing on the stares for 5 minutes waiting for people to move. Obviously this killed the suspense and I tried to find solace in the fact so many more actors were in the houses. Well not so much one of the bigger monsters wearing armor (and I do mean bigger I’m 6 foot 6 and this guy stood a head over me) decided he couldn’t get by the crowd fast enough and stepped on my foot. Stepped isn’t the right word more like crushed my foot and when I fell didn’t give me a second look. Much the same happened only a few moments later when an actor shoved me out of the way to get back to their spot. I understand not wanting to break character but my foot was actually very sore and I was not a happy camper and did not appreciate being knocked down again. Before anyone says it there was no place to move to let the actors safely by I was trapped in a sea of people. As it stands Netherworld is still a one of a kind Halloween experience and I eagerly look forward to the 2011 haunts raw meat and nightmares but I will never go back on Halloween or close to it. I still highly recommend this haunt

Okay so Im going to write an honest review and you can take what you will from it. This was my very first haunted house experience and it was a complete let down. Im going to start with the bad: Definitely way over priced for what they give you. This includes jam packed lines that remain pretty constant throughout the entire attraction. I mean, the lady regulating the amount of people walking in at a time for the first house really just did not care whether or not youd be getting your moneys worth. They let in large groups of people at a time, but on top of that they didnt give the group in front of your group enough time to get a good distance away from you so you saw where the scarers were hiding and basically stood in a really long line throughout the entire time. I went there on a Wednesday in the beginning of the month. The parking was overpriced, the gift shop was, everything was! I bought a ticket for both houses and the foam room but I really wish I hadnt wasted my time. I was really excited for this whole thing but I really felt bored and overall disappointed. At times you could tell some of the actors had given up and I felt bad for them because they mustve known at some point there was no use trying to scare anyone. This wasnt anything under their control but they let us in with a large group and we ended up being stuck between two guys who kept stopping for really large amounts of times to look at the different scenes and they would stop us and try talking to us about how cool things looked, which completely ruined the whole exclusive feeling for my boyfriend and I but what was even worse was the couple that kept stepping on my sandals while fondling each other any time we experienced a traffic jam in the line. It was HORRIBLE and terribly awkward. Thankfully there were a few good things... The make up was pretty realistic looking and most of the actors stayed in character throughout. The different scenes were pretty creative and impressive. The animatronics were like nothing Ive ever seen before and the foam room was a blast. Overall I wish theyd pay more attention on regulating the lines. Maybe if they had radios of some sort to communicate on when to let the next group through or even how many should be allowed in a group I feel like things would go much smoother. I dont know if Ill be coming back next year :/

This was my first time going and it was amazing. I went here on a saturday and arrived at about 6:30 and immediately got in line for the dead ones as I had already purchased my ticket online. thank goodness I did because by the time the attraction opened the line was stretched almost all the way through the queue space. Then they started letting us in. Oh my gosh, the queue area inside was so incredible I felt like I was waiting in line for some ride at disneyworld. There is tons of cool stuff in there to look at so dont fret if the line is backed up a long ways, it moves pretty fast. I was thankfully able to get closer to the front so I didnt really have to worry about the annoying "conga line" in the main haunt, but there was a group of three in front of us that gave away some of the scares. Fortunately, they dont just have one scare per room. If you see someone else get scared in front of you, dont worry theres probably someone else lurking in another dark corner waiting for you. Ive been to a few haunted houses in my life and this one was the most incredible Ive ever seen. Its so detailed and the cool stuff they use to scare you just makes for such an ultra sensory experience, so if you get behind a slow group take a chance to look at everything because for the time youre in there, it feels like youre in another dimension. Onto Boogeyman. This haunt was a little bit shorter not quite as detailed but I enjoyed it about as much. This was where there was a line through the entire house. However, they still managed to get me a couple of times in this one too. I would recommend not getting the fast ticket, just get there early and go through the main haunt first because it wont be as backed up and youll be backed up if you have the fast ticket too. Also, if you are scared easily they will follow you around and get in your face to try and scare you. I know this because I was laughing most of the time and didnt look scared and there were some screaming girls in front of us that they kept scaring over and over again. They also have actors scaring you in the parking lot so thats a plus if you have to wait in a long line. Overall this is a great haunt to see if you love haunted houses.
