Beautiful quiet grounds, site of the Battle of Utoy Creek August 6, 1864. Woods are strangely silent but peacefull. Hilltops were occupied by Southern Troops of Bates Divison of Hardees Army Corps. A Union Infantry Division of the XXIII Army Corps attempted to break through the defenses with a loss of 800 killed and 1200 Union Soldiers wounded. A Beautiful place visited by people from all over america visiting the site where there ancesters fought during the civil.war. Also is a post war spring site where travelers could stop water there horses and get spring water for them selves. The hills and trails were prepared by the Pitts family who occupied the property for 75 years and operated a goat farm with fresh local milk provided to those lactose intolerant in the early 1900s. Trenches still occupy the land and the waterfall where soliders filled there canteens as unchanged as can be from 150 years ago. The Cascade Mansion on Dodson Drive (Wartime East Point Road) served as the Headquarters of Major General William B. Bate is less than a mile away The Atlanta Preservation Center hosts "Phoenix flies" Historic tours in the early spring each year.

The park is awesome it self, for hiking, dog walking and get together with friends and family. But there is a main issue that needs to be fix we go there often and there are always like two or three cars braked in. We recommend to take your valuables with you or just live them at home. Also you have to live the windows cracked open, because they will brake the windows thinking that you have something valuable in the trunk. We noticed that most of the cars braked in tend to be the newer models. We hope the city do something about it.

This is one of my favorite places to hike because no one really comes here. May change after this review but Im okay with that. I like that most people bring their dogs here have them off leash because we all know how nice it is to actually let your dog explore all the fun smells around. every one weve run into is extremely friendly and understanding if my dog is off leash (not often because hes old and gets lost) and vice versa. Ive been here a few times and dont plan on stopping!

I have been coming to this park since 1995. Its like a refuge from the city and a great place to just walk away your worries. I have brought my family here for years as well as just find some peace solo. Never had any issues. They have cleared some paths and made the waterfall more accessible then it use to be. I did a photo shoot there before and and beware in the summer there are plenty of snakes in and around the creek.

Absolutely beautiful!! The trails are extensive and so peaceful. A really beautiful place!! A minor caution, if you plan on visiting, make sure you have no valuables in the car. On 8/18/17, my backseat widow was smashed and my [hidden] purse stolen. Two other cars windows were also broken. I suggest not having anything of value in the car and leaving the doors unlocked.

Great trail but the maintenance is poor, overgrown vegetation on the trails make it hard to go on them, specially on the outer ones, seems like only the middle ones are accessible due to more traffic, and signs are confusing, itll be good if it gets a little more attention, theres not many hiking places in the city, this will get a lot more ppl come to it if they do.

The trail is moderate in intensity, some windy parts might be more difficult for the less able. While the trail and scenery are nice, my friends car was broken into while we were here. It was locked and the perp only got away with a couple dollars of change and a phone charger, but it definitely put a damper on our good time.

This is just an amazing place! Who knew in the city, you could find such an amazing natural find. Almost got lost in here with my girlfriend haha but found our way out thanks to her keen instincts. Great place to take pictures. Couldnt find any water though so it was just mostly a peaceful walk past the trees and leaves.

My rental SUV was broken into on Saturday 1/16/2016 while taking engagement photos there. The perp busted out the rear passenger window and took my black briefcase with a Toshiba Satellite laptop, Toshiba Canvio 1.5 TB HDD, Sandisk 16GB USB drive, paperwork and a black journal with personal information.

This is a beautiful escape from the city. My dogs love it! They need to clear some of the trails more. Also wear pants because of the poison ivy but nothing you cant avoid by staying on the trail! Update: I still love this trail. Especially if I can get out there early in the morning!

It was awesome! My daughter and I, shes 9, went yesterday for the first time and had a wonderful adventure! We only got to one sight though, which was the Spring Trails. It was really peaceful, beautiful and serene. We look forward to returning this week to explore more!

This is one of the most serene nature preserves Ive been too and the next part is that its in the city. There are a few sites to see here from the old fallen trees that you can sit and meditate on to the waterfall. My Sunday city getaway in the city.

Such a beautiful place to walk the dogs or just take a walk by yourself. So hard to believe you are in the city. About 2 miles total of trails, different types of terrain and just overall a mind relaxing place to just sit ad mellow out.

Someone WC is leaking and turned into a waterfall. This must be the only waterfall in the World that starts under a road and someones backyard. Do not come here, you will find more excitement in Barnes and noble shop.

Beautiful! Great place to walk your beloved pets, and a beautiful way to get more exercise and add more steps into your Fitbit. Returned several times and saw young people walking the trails and having a blast!

I went here on Easter with my kids. I was there 30 mins and my car was broken into. They broke out my window stole my purse and hand gun. The park is nice but crooks are lurking. Beware.

Ticky when its warm and damp, other than that its a great place for hiking with my dogs. Rarely other people there and a couple of nice loops with a small waterfall/basin and creek bed.

Great place for hiking for the entire family and your pets. There are places to rest and even spots to have lunch afterwards. It is in town so restrooms and gas are minutes away.
