JWB, as its affectionately known by locals, is one of the few brewery locations that feeds all your geeky needs and definitely your beer related ones. Its a haven for all levels of craft beer drinkers, not just those who can speak endlessly about foam retention and hop varietals. Their core beers provide you with plenty of options for both beginners and beer enthusiasts alike. For those with more adventurous palates they provide you with a constantly rotating specialty list that has seen some particularly delicious treatments. A must try is the rarely brewed DFPF. This DragonFruit-PassionFruit Berliner Weiss pours an enticing bright pink and envelopes your senses with every slightly sour sip. The ambiance is beyond par. One full wall is devoted to a mural of the Mos Eisley Cantina that is so enchanting it actually makes you feel part of a different realm. They continue to pull you in with small comic drawings and a refusal to bombard you with sports television. Their small, intimate staff selects the daily entertainment and believe me when I say this set of characters know how to keep you occupied. Ive often watched part of a film at the brewery and returned home to finish it on Netflix. Their staff is small enough that a few visits should provide you with introductions to most of the staff. Most elusive are a those involved in the brewing process. Brewmaster Wakefield in reality or effigy is difficult to miss and is there most days and you will quickly associate all things JWB with this individual. Their focus is on the brew not the munch, so you wont find a kitchen here. Even so they provide a variety of popcorn flavors that are a must try. If you need a fuller meal you can usually find a food truck parked outside of the brewery or, if you dont mind a walk, you can explore the Wynwood area for other local food spots. Order to go and return to the brewery for another pint. If you arent in the mood for a stroll there a number of delivery services that will bring your munchies to you. If you need an excuse to visit the brewery you can wait for one of the events, just be sure to bring a raincoat as they are notorious for attracting heavy Miami rain. The grand opening was dubbed Hurricane Wakefield after an unexpected storm flooded the Wynwood area and the only people in good cheer were all in and around the brewery. These brews are worth standing/dancing in a foot of water with your beer seeking brethren. Come to Wynwood. Come to J Wakefields. Get a Stush. Relax. Youve earned it.

Mirroring its location in Wynwood (one of the most eclectic and artistic neighborhoods worldwide), J. Wakefield Brewery offers their guests varied and complex beers that are just as imaginative and avant-garde as the walls surrounding the taproom. The craft beer culture is inherently nerdy or geeky (depending on your preferred nomenclature) and Wakefield and company have created a taproom experience that speaks to the childhood hearts of its core demographic - from comic book prints and Star Wars decor, to Wednesday nights that are dedicated to tabletop and video games, the J. Wakefield Brewery and Tap Room is Nerd Valhalla, or Valinor, or whatever concept of heaven exists in a Galaxy Far, Far Away... If geeking-out on who shot first, Han or Greedo, isnt your thing, challenge yourself physically with Brewery Bootcamps (Fast Twitch) each Saturday (11:30 AM & 1:00 PM) -- $15 for the one hour workout and a post-workout beer. You will definitely feel like you earned the sweet nectar of the gods that is a JWB beer after sweating along side Brew Master, J. Wakefield, and other JWB crew members. My personal favorite recovery beer is the Stush, a refreshingly tart Berliner Weisse with a lemon zest, that is significantly more hydrating than Gatorade (no evidence to support this claim will be provided). Craft beer enthusiasts plan weekend trips around visiting this spot (its worth it for the visuals alone) so if youre a local, theres no excuse not to bear witness to the best brews made in Dade.

This place looks great, great crowd, great atmosphere and actually great beer! Only 1 problem. There customer service SUCKS! After sampling a few of there beers, I chose El Jefe. Its outstanding. Unfortunately, warm glass pints and cold beer dont go together. After asking for a cold glass, they went on to say that I was the only one complaining about warm beer. Actually, I was the only one at the bar. Maybe THATS WHY! The owner of this place assuming its J. Wakefield should be proud of his product but ashamed of his employees! The chick behind the counter with all the tattoos and the JERK David may know there beer but have no idea what it takes to run a business or how to keep the customers coming back! I will share my experience with everyone I looking for a great beer in Wynwood. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!

One of Miamis first breweries to break ground into the craft beer industry brewing amazing ales that dont quite fit the norm. JWB is located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District pumping out the original Florida Weisse style amongst some of the best IPAs, Stouts, and Hefes available. The Tap Room has a great atmosphere geeked out in Star Wars, Marvel Comics, and artwork from local artists. Friendly and knowledgeable staff will help guide your palate through the amazing selection of house brews. Try the Hop For Teacher, a fresh, juicy, and dank India Pale Ale dry hopped with Citra. Cheers!

J Wakefield Brewing is taking over South Florida with their top notch brews and excellent service. Right when you walk into the taproom you are taken back to your childhood with Star Wars and comic book references everywhere you look. The bartenders are very knowledgable and always willing to help you find the perfect beer for you. The beers are incredible and the styles range from 3% sours to 13% Imperial stouts for the more daring. I highly recommend JWB to everyone i meet and will definitely continue to give them my business.

I went a couple months ago with my wife, the day after the Funky Buddha MBCP Festival. We were there when they opened, they only had a few beers on tap. There were two bartenders behind the bar, they seemed to be much more interested in talking to each other than talking to the customers. We got served, drank our beers, waited to be asked what I wanted next, then I tabbed out. The staff at Wynwood Brewing and Concrete Beach were happy to take our money.

Im eternally grateful that John is thriving. No other brewer in South Florida deserves it more. That said, I dont understand why sports cant be appreciated just because you are drinking craft ale. Its time to throw away that mentality. Its as lame as the idea that sports and crappy commercialized beer must go together. Its not like the sky will fall because I want an awesome beer and to watch a game without sound in the background.

Great little taproom located in the heart of Miamis Wynwood arts district. The taproom is a a beer geeks heaven, with memorabilia and Star Wars murals painted by local artists. As for the beer: JWB is making some of the best brews not just in Miami, but in the country right now! This place is already a Miami staple...cant wait to see what the future has in store, Im sure its delicious!
