I love a good museum, but this one is one thats safe to miss in DC: 1) Its VERY small. There are only two floors to it and the art isnt the best in DC. 2) They take suggested donations, so it does cost unless you want to feel guilty as the museum workers stare you down if you dont pay. Pluses: 1) One of the rooms is beautiful with its blue walls and cool architecture. 2) The back of the museum is great with a beautiful fountain. It would be a great place to rent for an event!

I work security in this building. I think it is often underrated the exhibitions are wonderful. Theres Something new every time rather than the same old dutch art work from 1800s. This museum gives a breath of fresh air allowing new artist to display their artwork.

Very small but nice. It only has a few rooms but its a quiet little respite from all the chaos of the Mall and Smithsonians. The outdoor area and sculptures are nice too.

A nice little museum with contemporary works from the Americas. Quick to go through and a nice taste of art you wont see enough of in the other museums in DC.

Often overlooked. This is a great place to visit in a lunch hour. Free to enter, but $5 donation suggested. Totally worth it, IMHO.
