As with all things, there are positives and negatives. The Good: The entrance is nice and the atrium is beautiful. I love the atrium atmosphere. I enjoyed the tranquil of the sound of the man made waterfall, beautiful koi fish and turtles swimming, the filter sunlight, and the plants. The pillows are nice and soft and the sheets feel smooth to the touch. The towels are also very nice and soft. There is a mini fridge and microwave in the room. I do like the separate bedroom and living area. The gym area, though small, is nice. Temperature was comfortable. They provide towels and water. The hot breakfast was nice. The coffee is pretty good, not water down like most places. The managers reception could use more snack choices but I dont think anyone was complaining since they were giving away free alcoholic drinks. The staffs were very nice and friendly. The Bad: We had to sign a waiver indicating that we are in a non-smoking. However, upon entering the room, the smell of smoke was still very strong. Both my husband and I are very sensitive to smell so we requested to switch room. The staff quickly reassigned us to a different room. The next room did not have a smoky smell but when I sat down on the arm chair to watch TV, there was a faint vomit smell. I would have resigned to watch TV in the bedroom, but half the channels on that TV did not work. We called for service and within minutes, a man knocked on our door. He worked on the TV awhile but could not fix it. It appeared to be a problem with the TV. So he said they will swap it out tomorrow for us. That never happen. By then I didnt want to bother. I just sat in the corner furthest from the arm chair when I want to watch TV so the puke smell does not bother me. The AC unit looks like a blast from the past. It was old and does not work very well but while we were there, the temperature was comfortable. The bathroom was small and the vent did not work. There was mildew on the shower head. Housekeeping did not get to my room until 3 pm, which is very late for me. I have never had housekeeping come after 1 pm before. I was almost tempted to make my own bed! The Ugly: This is an old building. So here and there youll see signs of wear and tears: Torn wall paper, rusty window, funky smell in certain places, mildewy mold seeping under the caulking in the bathroom. The dishes left out in the hallway by someone else stayed there for two days. On the day I checked out, they were still there. Are they short on housekeeping services? Bottom line, this was my experience at this hotel. We could have asked to switch room again but we didnt feel like being a pest.

This is the first time that I have ever left a review on Google...or practically anywhere else for that matter...at least that I can recall. But, I think an honest, non-bitter review is warranted. I generally love Embassy Suites...Generally you know what you are getting...but in this instance have one big complaint. When I arrived at the hotel late at night, it was warm outside. I am a very hot-natured person. When I finally got up to my room, I opened the door and the room was sweltering hot and extremely stagnant/stuffy. So, as per the norm when I am traveling, I marched right over you the thermostat to crank it down and get the a/c moving. Thats when...standing beneath the very low popcorn ceilings (an Embassy Suites norm)...I saw it..."the sign"...the sign which tells you that you have absolutely no input whatsoever regarding whether the a/c or the heat is on. The building...as in the entire building...can only run one at a time. So despite how sweaty or cold you might be, you dont have any control over whether you get a/c or heat. If the temp outside is higher than 75, then supposedly you get a/c...though I am questioning this...it was over 75 outside and the a/c was not on during my stay. The best I can recall from the sign, if the temp is less than 55 (or 60) outside, then you supposedly get heat. If the temp outside is somewhere in between, then you get nothing. Here was my problem...even when the temp outside was hovering around 75 outside (and the a/c was not on),..the side of the hotel baked in the sun all afternoon, so when I returned to my room in the evening, it was around 85 degrees and very stuffy in the room and I had no a/c or air movement whatsoever...not even a ceiling fan...ceiling is too low for a ceiling fan. My only option, other than just sweating it out all night, was to open the sliding glass door (with no screen door) to let in some cool air. That created 2 problems...first, the hotel sits right on a very, very busy street and close to a very busy intersection that stays busy and very, very loud all night long...I had to buy ear plugs to sleep in. Second, there is a thick curtain that blocks all the cool air...so you must leave it open. That results in your room being very, very light (and noisy) all night long. This was very frustrating is almost guaranteed to keep you from getting a good night of sleep. Lastly, I will add my complaint about the parking charges...the parking charges are unreasonable given the location of the hotel. As much as I typically like Embassy Suites, I will not sweat this one out again. I did not have a good experience.

WARNING!!! DO NOT STAY HERE! Id give them 0 stars but thats not an option. Every July my husbands 18 and under girls softball team comes out to Irvine for a tournament so Ive stayed in many hotels in the area and our first time at this Embassy Suites. First impression was nice but that quickly went downhill. We had 4 rooms (3 for the girls and 1 for us). Once we checked in and we all went to our rooms to drop our luggage off before heading out for lunch, one of the girls rooms had an EMPLOYEE TAKING A CRAP IN THEIR ROOMS BATHROOM! Unacceptable! Second, it was the second day we were here and I had left my room early that day for softball games and came back around 4 to find an EMPLOYEE IN MY ROOM! I always keep the "do not disturb" sign on my door while Im out and this employee ignored the sign and was in my room alone. He wasnt in there long as I just so happened to walk in right after him. It was very disturbing as I was in a hurry to shower and change for dinner, if I had gotten to the room just 5 minutes earlier I would have been in the shower when he walked in...oh and did I mention I had my do not disturb sign on the door? Clearly, the employees could care less about your privacy and will help themselves into your room whether or not you have your sign up. I did complain to the front desk but Andrew (the manager on duty) said it was the walkie talkies fault for the employee not being able to hear the room number correctly. Never apologized and basically dismissed me like it wasnt a big deal. IT IS A BIG DEAL ANDREW!! Lol wow. Third, one of the coaches who had a room to herself, had items stolen from her room: iPod, headphones, and a few other items. She filed a police report and a report with the hotel. We werent even here for a whole week and all these incidents occurred. I had to bring literally all my personal valuable stuff with me every time I left as I didnt trust leaving anything behind when I left, not to mention I locked my door when I was there alone in fear someone was just going to barge in and ignore my do not disturb sign...again. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND I WILL BE POSTING THIS EXPERIENCE ON EVERY REVIEW SITE IN HOPES OF WARNING OTHER PEOPLE THAT THIS IS A SHADY HOTEL.
