I have a love hate relationship with this place. It serves a great purpose for Sacramento. Ive had some awesome nights there with both live action events and movies. The trouble is with the other guests. Ive been to some great shows with amazingly fun crowds. Ive also seen wild, violent crowds that will scare the living daylights of of any sane person. Beer bottles being thrown, fist fights, just the worse you can imagine. They need to have a better judgment on the crowd types to staff up security accordingly. I will not attend events that follow an evening of something else in town. An example would be the zombie walk. That was borderline chaos. I saw Aliens though last week and that was a great evening, with a great crowd. I do like that they now serve beer and wine. Although they do shut that down pretty quick though. Maybe that is a good thing...

Last night we attended the viewing of Casablanca at the Crest. The plan was excellent for anyone who dined on K street or had a cocktail could just bring their receipt and get in free to the movies. We dined at Mayahuel and gave the Crest attendant our receipt, shared our email information, and walked right in. I forgot how beautiful the Crest is and how glad I am that it is still in operation. The seats were comfy and everyone who was there to see the movie was friendly and excited. Kudos to the staff and owner of the Crest for keeping art alive, and getting people out to experience the wonderful things that are happening on K Street. We will be back.

Very nice place to see a live performance. Not a bad seat in the house. The only reason I cant give 5 Stars is due to the lines. Not much you can do about a long restroom line. But if theres an intermission and you plan on going to the restroom AND getting a drink AND making it back to your seat before the second show, fuh get ah bot it (with a New York accent). Parking can be tough as well. The City of Sacramento has only 1hr meters for two blocks. We ended up with garage parking for an additional $15 (which isnt too, too bad). All and all, we enjoyed our night. The Crest theater is great looking and the sound system was solid.

Still my favorite small theatre in Sacramento. Home to a variety of Film Festivals - French, Japanese, International, Trash etc. The decor is classic old Hollywood deco and the humble concessions thankfully doesnt (yet) offer hotdogs/burgers so you dont feel like youre sitting in the kitchen of a MacDonalds. Seats are on a good rake so no bad visibility. Plenty of parking around, sometimes even validated parking, it seems to be sporadic but you can always ask.

Its a beautiful theater. They sometimes put on old movies and other times have live events. I went to listen to Welcome to Night Vale. The acoustics were amazing. I was near the back, but every line came through perfectly. Even the line which left the speaker and seized upon my silver cord, connecting me through the Astral plane. Ill always be listening now, Cecil. Thank you.

Great place to watch classic movies! The staff is great and the people watching are always fun. They show a lot of older movies on original film and it is definitely worth the experience. If you expect complete silence while watching a movie, this is not the experience you are looking for. The occasional joke or round of applause makes this a fun place to watch a movie.

Beautiful theater and always fun to visit. Ive been here for several events. This one was for the Capitol Dance Project - what a great show! Only downside to the Crest is the lack of ladies bathroom stalls - we spent about 15 minutes waiting to get into the bathroom, there was a long line that snaked through the lobby.

Went here for my graduation. Liked the place. The only thing i didnt like is the fact that its downtown. The parking lot behind the theater smelt like piss all over from the homeless people. But other than that, place was big, comfy seats (the little time I was sitting down). Nice bathrooms. Well kept up on the inside.

The Crest Theater is a gorgeous, elegant edifice that is a well preserved monument to the history of Sacramento. The seating is comfortable, not a bad view in the house. Its not for rock concerts, but any time you can see acts drawing smaller crowds it feels like an intimate venue, even though its capacity is 975.

Ive been to The Crest a few times. The lobby area is okay. The actual theater is a bit more impressive. Wide aisles allow for easy patron navigation. Seating is pretty typical for concert venues. I appreciate the rows begin fairly close to the stage. It makes the front row experience at a concert WONDERFUL!

What a beautiful theater! I saw Post Modern Juke Box here and the theater heightened the show. I was able to meet the band and they kept commenting on how beautiful the theater is, so you know it is. Because it isnt huge, the show feels intimate and all seats are good. Go see a show at the Crest!

Went there for a music concert with Lydia Pence and Cold Blood they were excellent I was very glad to hear that they were as good as I remembered, I was transported back in time when I was a young lady that went to concerts in the park with my girlfriends and danced most of the night!

Great intimate venue for a concert. We went here for a Christmas concert with Jim Brickman and you get like you could reach out and touch him. You may want to eat first as the concessions are limited. A great feature is the light rail is right outside the box office.

Absolutely love the old theater charm of this place. It definitely pays to be extra early, because the right seats make all the difference in enjoying a show comfortably, but I find it worth it for unique shows at a unique theater!

I enjoy the vintage decor of this theater, and their choices of movies. A great place for a unique date or for getting a group of friends together for a theme night. I also recommend drinks before or after at Empress Tavern.

Its an old actual theater that they have renovated to be a movie theater. If you are nostalgic or like old timy things this is great. Even the bathrooms are all original. It felt like I stepped back in time for two hours.
