I have been to all about fish for the last two years. The best time to go in tuesday or Wednesday because that is when they usually receive shipments of coral. The live rock selection has seemed to have gotten worse over the years. Now it looks like just pieces of large rubble with no apparent growth at all. They have a wide variety of salt and freshwater fish, with fair prices. They are never short on equipment and supplies, but i would order over the internet for half the price. A big problem with All About Fish is the staff working there. Some love to help you find what you are looking for, others seem like they dont want to leave there comfortable spot in the store and show you around. Personally i feel they expect all people who walk in the store to have the knowledge to start a fish tank. But lets face it, its hard and a lot of times we need staff members help! In conclusion All About Fish is random. Some days when you go there the staff show you around to some fantastic new coral and colorfull fish. Other times you are left wandering around alone looking at the dull coral, and blue chromis wondering why you came here. So before you rate all about fish i would make several trips to the store, before you fianalize the opinion. Since i am a regular visitor to the store all the people who work there hang out with me and show me their favorite corals they keep hidden around a rock from the people they dont like. They remember my tank and past conversations i had because i was so nice to them. So if you become friends with the staff and get in on their secret group it is pretty sweet. If not, it might not be worth a trip down to All About Fish.

Service and inventory are generally a little above average. The staff offers adequate assistance but sometimes differs when providing advice on equipment needed to sustain your stock, supplements required and effectiveness of certain products. On one occasion the staff seemed quite happy to sell me clown fish where ninety percent of the inhabitants were clearly suffering from a serious fungal infection. When I inquired concerning the condition of the fish the staff member simply explained the fungal infections away as a normal occurrence that would simply clear itself up. I did not purchase those clown fish. To be fair most of the stock at this store look healthy and well cared for. Doing your research ahead of time concerning fish compatibility, supplement levels needed, etc.. will provide you with a much richer experience. I found many items to be a tad bit pricey however considering the almost nonexistent local competition it makes sense that a little price gouging is taking place. All in all my experiences with All about Fish have not been exceptional or horrendous. .

It got four stars because saltwater fish shops are scarce in the area. They have a below average selection of fish but thats probably due to demand. Prices are ridiculously high for goods. I bought a copper test kit for $30 (had no choice) when other places were selling it for half that. I bought some clownfish from them a few weeks back and they had ich. Which is why I needed to buy a copper test it because I had to. I recommend Diablo corals for corals because the quality is there. For fish, really recommend this place. They have a decent coral selection but nothing that will blow anyones socks off. The prices are a little high for the corals as well.

I have been there about 3 times. All of the times, they treat you as if you are lucky they are there. Spoke to some customers at another aquarium place and they mentioned it first that they had this experience also. I found quite a few of the fish were over priced and I asked the clerk why they were so much higher than the other stores in the East Bay and he commented they had to pay rent somehow. We need places like them here in the East Bay and they do know they are the only one in this area, so I guess they are working on the supply and demand concept. I would rather go to Dublin or Castro Valley than go to these people again.

Been going for a couple years. Was looking for their phone number and read a few reviews and was compelled to write something. The service in my opinion is the best around. Most times we cant even leave, because the staff is so friendly. They will sit and discuss your tank, theorys, fish, filtration systems for as long as you want. We always go midday on weekdays. Its busier on Sunday because they do 10% discounts on fish and corals.

Over the last 5 years i have seen this store really trasnform into a excellent fish and coral store. The staff is helpful, the corals range from entry level to expert, and they have a shipment of fish 3 times a week. Alot of traffic comes through this store so the best day for fresh stuff is thursday. One of the largest fresh water selection in the east bay. The coral selection has grown in quality and size in the last 2 years .

It sound like Mr Bryan bad review is probably one of those people you just cant make happy. Ive been doing buisness with All about Fish for years and not only are they one of the more knowledgable but certainly the most helpful... And if youve ever been the they have the best selection of fresh and saltwater fish and more corals ect than ive ever seen in one spot. Not to mention their stock is always healthy... I LOVE ALL ABOUT FISH

this place is ok. in 2006 this was the place to go! now it seams like its gone down hill a little. their prices use to be the best and now they are sky rocket. the best thing i like about this shop is the stands. they are custom built and very strong. i just bought mine last week and its legit. price on the stand was decent but all the other equipment is pricey. still debating if i want to buy my live stock from them.

Bought 3 different Bettas from here and every single one was dead in a week. Did they make good on any of them? No. Their return/exchange policy is 3 days. Told us to feed them once/day. Now we have 2 Bettas from Petco, were told to feed every other day, and have had no problems. The selection of Bettas was far superior at Petco as well. Wont be shopping here again for anything living/breathing.

Excellent shop if you are into coral for your salt tank, decent salt water fish choices too. Freshwater fish selection is good but by no means great. Tanks and products are there but an odd mix of some out of date and some new. However the service is NOT great. Slow. Some are not exactly what I would call knowledgeable. They are also not very "friendly".

Ha ha I didnt know what this place was, I always saw it from the freeway and i was near by so my kid and I stopped in. Awesome displays. It is like an aquarium but you can actually buy the fish your see. Definitely focused on saltwater lots to choose from. As far as prices/service compared to others I have no idea. I not into aquariums.
