Following is my opinion and based on attendance at ONE concert and conversations with friends who have been to other concerts here. The venue is great but there is a serious need for acoustic modification. Specifically, there needs to be some redesign (or the implementation of major bass traps) to prevent serious standing waves from overwhelming most of the seating area. I attended the Los Lonely Boys and Los Lobos conert last year when the amphitheatre opened (2013). Im pretty particular about good acoustics, so I bought tickets in the 3rd row, just left of center (I always try to favor the stage sound & volume as opposed to that from [what can often be blaring] PA speakers). The wide and deep stage, along with a Hollywood Bowl-type of backdrop at Vina Robles might be contributing to a bass boost problem. The very large floor at this venue is at just about ear level with the first 20+ rows of seats. Think about when you are listening to your home stereo and walk over to one of the opposite corners (or near a long wall) where the bass is X times louder because the sound waves have congragated. At this amphitheatre, it sounds like all the bass from the band instruments and speakers are pouring out from the stage, overwhelming all the other frequencies. The next time I attend a concert here, it will be general admission tickets where I can sit back (and up from the plain of the large stage) on the limited lawn area. I do hope this issue is fixed soon since this place is so close to where I live and the owners have been doing an excellent good job of getting great performers. Ill update this review after a follow-up experience.

Went Sunday 6/25/17 and saw Don Felder, Styx and REO Speedwagon. First time at this venue and it really was nice. Arrived about 545 for a 700 scheduled start. Parking was very easy off Mill Rd. Parking lot was staffed and parking was quick and easy right next to the gate. If you arrive later and park farther out it is still an easy short walk. Beautiful inside, several places to eat including a huge pizza oven. Several places to buy drinks (beer/wine/ soft drinks etc) Beer was $7 or $8 a cup, wine $9. Very relaxed atmosphere to walk around in, plenty of cordial staff to direct you. Not a bad seat in the house, the sound was very good. We had good seats about halfway up the amphitheater but there is a nice grass area to sit in at the top with your blanket or small folding seat so that is a good option if your want to save some money. We drove from Bakersfield about 100 miles away to see this classic rock act and had a great time. We have been to the Santa Barbara Bowl several times and this place is similar but to me is a much better venue because of the set up in the plaza area for food and drinks as you enter and the parking is much more convenient. No charge for parking which I was actually surprised by (thanks for not trying to squeeze every nickel out of us lol) All in all a very nice venue which made for a great trip, we will definitely be back for more events.

What a lovely place for a concert. To bring big names to our little area is wonderful. The place is big, huge in our little area. over 3000 people at the concert. We saw Crosby Stills and Nash it what will be one of if not their last group gig. Oh the politics of getting along after all these years, but that is another story. I will give the place five stars as I know how difficult it can be to handle monster crows. So if you are impatient about lines, you will complain. If you are impatient about getting into and out of the parking lot, you will complain. my take is, it took about a half hour to get out of the lot, considering the main road still has construction, and it is a stop sign to cross traffic, and all the people, well our little group is happy to chat and be patient, results vary for others. The getting food and drink, well of course there are lines, and it all works out OK. Sitting on the lawn, sitting in the bleachers really nice. Sitting down front, might be a bit over amped for the sound system and my ears, you choose for you! Getting in and out the stadium was really easy. Going to a ball game would have had longer lines in both the food and parking. So pick who you like, come early, be with friends, enjoy and evening under the stars and just love it! For others just get the CD and stay home.

It was an okay experience. Because of the amount of money that I paid for box seats I expected more. The evening was far less than extraordinary. Our Seats were so far from the "preferred parking" and Terrace Club that there was absolutely no value in having access to either for me. It simply meant that we had to walk farther to get to our car. We never used the Terrace Club except for a mediocre meal served cafeteria style before the show. So be aware that all the good box seats are held, presumably, by season ticket holders so the only seats remaining available are extreme stage left or right. Im guessing general admission tickets were about $50 a piece for War/Tower of Power. So it would have been about $100 for two of us. I paid $500 for box seats for a show that we ended up leaving early from. Additionally, another $60 for food, $120 for wine, and $250 for merchandise. So just under a thousand dollars for an unimpressive evening not worth remembering. So if youre going to come to Vina Robles do it smart and cheap IF you do not hold seasons tickets to better seating.

What a great addition to SLO County!! Having been a huge fan of the Santa Barbara Bowl for years, it is so wonderful to have another place just as great to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment! Doesnt appear to have a "bad seat" in the house, and lots of room to roam and mingle before the show starts. The ONLY down side is the parking situation ~ and its not so much the parking as it is the leaving after the show is over. Expect a long delay (30 minutes is not out of the ordinary), but if youre not in a hurry to get home, its a great chance to just discuss and soak in the wonderful concert experience you just had!

Last night was my first night attending a concert at this venue and it was awesome! All the seats are good seats. The staff was friendly and helpful and the restrooms were clean. Im already looking at there schedule to see what other concert I will be attending there. Parking is crazy but every venue that has thousands of people leaving at the same time will be challenging. Anyone can knit pick and find the negative in anything but this is a really great venue and I will continue to make this my venue of preference!

Cyndi Lauper show Tuesday nite. She puts on a good show, but VINO Robles security is worthless. Had front row seats and the stage got run over with people on the last few songs, We got smashed by idiots pushing and shoving. I asked security up front to clear these people out and they just said its to late to control. Worthless! Wont ever go back for meet and greet Front row again.
