BEWARE OF BED BUGS!!! Hotel management unresponsive!!! Im a Hilton Diamond and Starwood Platinum member, meaning I spend more than 100 nights a year in hotels. I have NEVER had a bed bug bite or even suspicions of bed bug bites, until now. Despite the older rooms, the terribly annoying train (not the hotel’s fault), and the seedy location, I found that the DoubleTree was the best place to stay around that area, so I kept coming back. I checked into the hotel on Monday, Sept 30, 2013 for a four-night stay. I was on floor 9, the Hilton honors floor. Friday morning I woke up and noticed what looked like about 5-6 bites. I searched the sheets and saw what looked like tiny little black specks, but I they were too small for me to determine if they were bedbugs or just lint. I tried to convince myself that it was all in my head. By the time I got home on Friday night, I looked at my stomach and thighs in the mirror, and there was no denying that I had been attacked by bed bugs. I put my suitcase straight in the garage and wouldn’t bring it into the apartment. I COUNTED 37 BITES! (I live in downtown San Francisco and I CANNOT risk having bed bugs spread throughout my building.) I called the hotel first thing Saturday morning and left a voicemail for the room manager telling him that I had a confirmed case of bedbugs. I was expecting a call back right away, after all, wouldn’t they want to figure out as soon as possible what room I was in so that they could contain the situation and not check another guest into that room?!?!? Wrong. I didn’t even get a call back. If someone else slept in that bed over the weekend they probably got attacked too. I called the general manager on Monday morning and left a message. He actually got back to me within about 30 minutes and said he wasn’t sure why the room manager never called back. He said he was going to have the room fumigated immediately, and hand me over to the hotel’s insurance company to seek reimbursement for my loss (my $350 suitecase and a weeks worth of business clothes that I threw away). I also assumed that I would be reimbursed for my room, which was only about $400 for the week). He told me that insurance would be contacting me by the end of the day at the latest, and if not that I should call him back. What do you know, the insurance company never called me! I called the GM two more times to tell him without receiving a response. Finally, 5 days later I get a voicemail from the insurance agent, saying, “I’m really busy and just stepping out of a meeting to call you, but there fumigator said no report of bed bugs so I think that closes the case”. I have since asked for a copy of that report 3 times, via email and phone, and have not received anything. They probably had a guest in the room when I called the GM, and decided just not to have the room fumigated. Otherwise, why would the refuse to produce the report that says there are no bedbugs? This has been a disaster. It’s even more troubling that management showed that they didn’t care at all about the bed bugs, but never calling me back after my first message, and other people were probably also affected. DO NOT STAY HERE! There’s a brand new Hampton Inn in Manteca which is a nicer area.

5 star treatment!!! provided vehicle parking was given a decadent cookie given wifi access courtesy porter service very friendly and assertive hotel staff very nice courtesy toilette products very cozy super clean white bed sheets handsome desk and chair nice 32in lcd tv with direct tv and hbo access jumbo sofa for lounging and tv watching i love the coffee maker from coffee bean two courtesy aquafina water bottle two large fuji waters ready to purchase if your palette and wallet says otherwise elevators are nice and accommodating and very responsive the lobby area very nice and wifi ready and snack concession area valet on site next to a very good movie theater, subway and jamba juice half a stone throw away. the swimming pool is really nice and 7 person jacuzzi and sun bathing chairs are all nice. the fitness room has a lot to offer. weights. speed bike. treadmill. crossbar. a nice lcd hdtv in there too. this doubletree indeed cares for guests. im concluding my 6 day stay and theres a very nice restaurant i didnt even try that it is always filled throughout the day. if everybody stares out their room window they will all have a unique view of modesto. thank you management for accomodating my coworkers and i this past week. i enjoyed my stay at this Double Tree in Modesto! Headed back to LOS ANGELES!!! A +

My friend booked a room here about 3 months in advance for a photography session. They called her back and told her that they had given her room to someone, so she rescheduled for a later date. Soon after they called again saying they gave her room away again and that they would be setting her up in a different room, which was fine. When her and everyone else participating in this photography session arrived they had informed her that the people staying in the room prior to us decided to extend their stay and that we would he getting a different room. They told us that the room they were giving us was not cleaned and that it would take about 15 mins to clean up. Well 15 minutes turns into 3 hours of sitting and waiting in the lobby with everyone who was participating in the photography session. We were unable to get everyones photography session done because we ran out of light, had we got the original room when we arrived everyone would have had their photos done. The staff there seemed to not really care that we were waiting in the lobby for 3 hours and were not welcoming. I would definitely not reccomend this hotel to any one, in fact I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this hotel.

This hotel is amazing! I have no idea why that lady was complaining after all they are a hotel not a photography studio! Anyway I signed up for The FREE Hilton Honors Program, downloaded the App, checked in online, used a VERY cool feature to choose my own room and guess what! I walked in and said my name with no line, was given one of their famous cookies, got my key and went straight to my very clean room. The next day the manager greeted me at check out and I was raving about the app and he said next year they are getting locks whereby you use your phone to open the door! He quickly got my car while I enjoyed the awesome breakfast and I was out the door. This hotel understands the travelers needs and exceeded my expectations! This was in Modesto too! Amazed! I wonder why that lady who is complaint in the other review would wait 3 hours for a clean room? Seems fishy to me and why not ask for a manager? He greets everyone and says goodbye as well. Keep up the great work Hilton! You have a gem in Modesto of all places!

Cuarto y baño limpio. Hotel completo y nos dieron galletas nada más llegar. El problema más que nada fueron los trenes que pasan a menudo al lado y hacen un ruido tremendo. También había gente en la habitación de al lado y se escuchaban mucho a través de la puerta que conecta las habitaciones. Dado que el hotel es enorme dudo mucho que era necesario ponernos así de juntos...
