This was a fun winery to visit since it has three labels to taste: Silver Lake, Glen Fiona, and Hoodsport. Since I had already been to 3 wineries and off to a couple more after this, I decided to only try the Glen Fiona and the Hoodsport. The Glen Fiona wines were good but not the best. The staff was friendly and very attentive and took the time to educate us about the differences between the styles. Hoodsport is one of my favorite wines. They make a great merlot, but I think I like Hoodsport fruit wines as a change of pace because I lived in Vermont so long and all they have are fruit wines (Apple, Blueberry, Raspberry. . . . ) One of my favorite wines in Vermont was a rhubarb wine and I was happy to see that Hoodsport makes a rhubarb wine. This is a really fun winery to visit since they have such a variety of wines to taste and the price of a bottler here will be much less than at some of the other wineries.

Best wine store in the world. Everyone who works there is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wine/beer/spirits, and will help you pick out something fantastic that you never knew existed. I love the focus on smaller, high-quality winemakers, and I always discover a new favorite through their weekly wine tastings (a great value). Silver Lake Wine makes wine very approachable and enjoyable, and the selection is tightly curated and consistently next level. I really cant say enough about this store, it really is a treasure and one of the best stores in LA for gifts or personal enjoyment. Dont forget to sign up for their e-mail list for events- they frequently host winemaker nights and very popular off-site events and the e-mails are hilarious. Free lot parking!

What I love about this place is that they have great wines at every price point. You can get an 8 dollar bottle or a thousand dollar bottle. Everything they have has been chosen carefully so you know youre not getting a shitty bottle. The staff is always cool and knowledgeable and have zero tude even if you want a ten dollar bottle and have no idea what kind of wine you like. Theyll help you find the bottle. Did I mention they also have booze? They do. And its a great selection of interesting stuff. If you need a bottle of bourbon, you can count on finding a unique one. With wine prices like this, I no longer get my wine at Trader Joes, I just get it here and support a small business at the same time. Brilliant!

silverlake wine company has an awesome reputation among LA-based wine lovers, and with good reason. their selection is second to none, their staff is low-key, approachable and yet very knowledgeable, and their approach to wine tasting/loving is carefree, fun, and unpretentious. however, living outside of LA, its easy to fall in love with silverlake wine company even more. their wine of month program is very reasonably priced, the wine selection is diverse and hand-chosen to each individuals interests with a little "palette growth" opportunities thrown in, and their hand-written tasting notes and recipe suggestions are amazing. in a word: call them up!

I will never again buy wine from a grocery store now that I found Silverlake Wine. You can get great bottles of wine for $10-$15 and up, the knowledgeable staff will guide you through the shop and not pressure you to buy anything (they also offer delivery). I really enjoy their Thursday night tastings, just get there early so you dont have to deal with a large crowd. Try any bottle from Rhythm Wine, they are my favorite.

Great little wine place in hipsterville. Great selection of small lot wines at okay prices. The really nice stuff will set you back but there are plenty of bargains here, especially in wines that are off the beaten path. A real treasure trove for people who prefer to explore the broader world of wine than focus on very specific vintages and types.

Great selection of wines in a very neighbor-hoody spot in Silver Lake. Great service and very customer friendly. Its obviously pricier than Trader Joes or your supermarket wines, but its a great stop for gift giving.

These people know their stuff! Ask questions and youll get helpful answers. No, its not cheap, but prices are fair. They also sell interesting liqueurs like absinthe. They share a parking lot with adjacent businesses.

The Monday wine tasting was great! $15 for 3 glasses of wine plus bread, olives, cheese, and hummus. Great tasting wines that I probably would not have chosen myself.
