Was so excited to see Superman last night. Crowd was great, print was decent (quite a few scratches, but very nice colors), but the audio was terrible. Ive seen Superman in revival theaters several times over the years (most recently at the Nuart in 2013), and this was the worst Ive ever heard it. They had the volume cranked up to the max, and with the New Beverlys crappy speakers, everything sounded distorted. I literally had my hands covering my ears for most of the showing. John Williams fantastic score was ruined, and since his score is such an essential part of the film, the entire presentation was ruined along with it. I never thought Id be disappointed after seeing Superman on the big screen, but that happened last night. I give two stars for actually showing 35 mm prints, but until they get their audio issues addressed, Im not going back to the New Beverly. Ill stick to the Aero, Egyptian and Nuart.

There is only one screen. But its the best screen in the world (not literally). The best throwback theater in LA. The Shaw Brothers month was banana cream pie!!!! Kung Fu movies that Ive seen and not seen day after day. It was awesome. And 35mm youall. The concession prices are literally a shock. I spent less on popcorn + drink + ticket together than I would for just the parking at a regular theater. The dudes at the counter are used to people being shocked at the prices, "yes that is the cost of all the things you bought sir~ its not a mistake." I hope this place stays around for 100 years! Did I mention, double features for the price of one ticket. (one tear rolls down cheek)

Do you like Classic/Cult movies? Well you will definitely enjoy The New Beverly Cinema. This place is a place for movie lovers run by movie lovers. Ever since I started coming here 5 years ago to see a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers double feature, it has been my go to place to watch the movies that I love. The concessions are a bit limited but they have the basic candies, popcorn, and soda. You should definitely follow them on social sites in order to hear about the special events they are always having.

Truly the best cinema in the world, homey small town cinema feel, with movies and events handpicked by Quentin Tarantino and run by a wonderful family. Cinema film students and hardcore fans line this theater where every night feels like the Star Wars premiere back in the 70s. Grab your favorite snack, enjoy the show, from the opening trailer presentations, the fun classic cartoons, to the double feature. You wont regret it!

Yelp says this is a $3.00 movie house. On the website, the double feature I clicked on was $8.00. Still not a bad price, but not the $3.00 listed on Yelp. My rating will change once Ive been there for myself. I only give three (3) stars when I comment on a place I have not been to yet. Reviews from other Local Guides are very positive. Therefore, I suggest trying this theater out ✌

This place is cool. They usually have great double feature nights. They often have directors or actors come in to either introduce films or do a q & a afterward. This is awesome, and you never know what to expect. Alot of the time youre sitting next to them as well. This place has been around for a long time. A good place for a a cheap date!

New Beverly is a theater for movie lovers. My wife and I went to see Okja (because a chance to see it on the big screen in 35mm beats watching it on TV) and were delighted to see Quentin Tarantino talk with director Bong Joon-ho before the film. The seats are comfortable, the tickets are very inexpensive, and so are the snacks.

The curated films are definitely worth the experience, but the theater doesnt really have a good seat in the house. Flat seating means you wont be able to see if someone is in front of you, and the screen is significantly smaller than most theaters. Worth it if youre a cinefile, otherwise, stick to the big chains.

Great double bills, excellent prices, nice to support 70/90mm prints of films. The slightly over fanatical members of the audience can get a bit much: Id hate to be on the receiving end of some of the more o.t.t. shouted abuse (the basis of which I understand but the severity is unnecessary).

The charm of this little theater is unbeatable, and youll see so much here youll never see anywhere else. Being owned by Quentin Tarantino doesnt hurt, either. Food is super cheap as well, while being better in variety and quality than most theaters. All around favorite spot.

"It may be small in size, but it sure knows what to do with it" In all seriousness though, this theater is great. The prices are very reasonable at both the box office and concessions stand. Really love their selection of films and the audiences here are the best

Perfect classic cinema experience. Comfy seating, the theater is small enough to enjoy the film from any spot, but big enough so you dont have to worry about tickets selling out too soon. Clean seats, bathrooms. Cheap and yummy concessions. Will come back.

Amazing films you dont see in other theatres - including classics that you may never have the chance to experience on the big screen anywhere else. Plus, where else can you get a movie ticket and snacks for under $15 these days?! Love this place.

At first was doubtful watching a classic movie in a modern theater, however the movie selections were great and well chosen films. Very comfortable movie seats and affordable prices. Only difficulty is finding parking, but thats expected in LA.

There are 3 cinemas I will always treasure for revived cinema greatness. You guys, the Fine Arts Theater in Chicago, and the Varsity Theater in Evanston, IL (which became a frickin Gap clothing store). You rock!!

Great old rep cinema showing mostly classic double features for bargain prices. Every great city should have at least one of these but there arent many left. Paradise for film studies majors!

Went to see The Blob here with friends last night! This theater reminded me of my childhood, with cheap food and drinks and simple chairs. I will definitely come back here to see other films.

The best movie theater in LA and maybe the world. Affordable concession, great presentation, awesome film selection, and a culture that clearly loves film. Accept no substitutes.

Nice staff. Cheap concessions. Tarantino doesnt always pick the best movies and repeats too much. But overall, awesome place. I hope it stays open forever. I go pretty regularly

Was here for one of Edgar Wrights double feature nights -- Chungking Express and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg -- it was amazing! Hope they keep this tradition alive for next year!
