One year ago today I was standing on one of the beautiful balconies of the Surf and Sand Resort gazing out at the amazing view when I turned around to my boyfriend down on one knee asking me to be his wife. 7 year prior, him and I were standing in that exact same spot on our very first date. Between the beautiful view, the sentimental location, and becoming a fiancee, I can easily say it was the most amazing moment I have ever experienced. What I didnt know until later was that the Surf and Sand Resort went above and beyond to help my now fiance plan that perfect moment. When he called the resort to explain what he wanted to do they were overjoyed and excited to help! They scheduled a time to meet with him so that he could find the same balcony that we were on 7 years ago (which is a tough task since there are multiple beautiful balconies!), they checked their schedule to make sure there were no other events going on the day my fiance wanted to propose, and they even allowed my family and my fainces family to hide in one of their suites during the proposal in order to take pictures of the event (complementary of the hotel!). Everything went perfectly as planned making that day feel like a fairytale! I am forever thankful for the kindness and helpfulness the Surf and Sand Resort showed to me and my fiance on this very special day. It is for this reason that I highly recommend the Surf and Sand Resort for anyone that is looking for a BEAUTIFUL, romantic, relaxing place to go on vacation, stay a few nights, or even visit for for the day. Their friendly staff and incomparable accommodations will make any stay one you will remember forever. Thank you Surf and Sand Resort, you are a place I will always hold every close to my heart!

As a long-time resident of Laguna Beach, I always suggest the Surf & Sand for out of town guests. And, 100% of the time, friends who stay there LOVE IT. In my opinion, this is the hotel that best captures the spirit of Laguna Beach in a beautiful luxury setting. Unlike other "5 star" hotels, you can actually WALK to town from the Surf and Sand. It is literally ON the beach in the city of Laguna Beach. Not near the beach, not set back, not in Dana Point harbor, but ON the beach in Laguna Beach. Think of waves crashing outside your door -- that is the Surf & Sand. So in addition to having the best location, the service and amenities are great. We LOVE the restaurant Splashes. Also the pool, spa, and common areas are really lovely... and the staff and services have the "right touch". Yes, it is a splurge to stay at the Surf & Sand -- but if you want to have a quintessential Laguna Beach weekend, this is where you want to be.

We are locals to So-Cal but you cannot beat this hotel. We live closer to the Ritz, St. Regis (2 minutes from our house) and the Montage but none of them have the classy but laid back feeling of Surf & Sand Hotel. We stay there so much most of the staff knows us by name. Cory, the front desk manager is amazing! He will bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable. Last week my wife and I had a stressful week at work and NOTHING washes away stress like staying here and opening the doors to your balcony and listening to the waves that are 20 feet away all night long. They were almost sold out but Cory found us a room and didnt gouge us on the rate! Will will be back every month :-) From the Valet to the restaurant staff this place is very special and almost a bargain when compared to other resorts around the area. Keep up the good service!

My experience here was fantastic. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. I have found this attitude in many other places but here there was something exceptionally genuine about it. This resort, although not new, was clean and well-maintained. I did not eat in there restaurant so I cant give you an opinion but swimming on the beach, even at night and using the pool at all hours was very much appreciated. I would have given it five stars if not for the fact that the rooms do not have air conditioning. With the beautiful weather I had, and the room I had that did not matter however if you were here on an exceptionally hot day and or if you had one of the rooms that did not have cross ventilation, air-conditioning conditioning would be missed. Still, I would highly recommend this to any friend or family coming to Laguna Beach.

We have reserved our first valentines dinner five months ahead woth special request of seating next to window.when we arroved Bruce. The manager had very cocky attitude mentioning ppl that they have forty ppl on waiting list to seat in.This place treat ppl only as profit, not as indivisual customer service take ppl happily come back..Also when we asked ,and pre fixed menue was pretty pricey for a person, but that is not a point, cpuld we spleat one pre fix meal for two,for dietary reason, bruce ,the mngr, rudly said,oh well maybe this restaurant venue is not for you guys.Really? The point of planning here in advance amd putting request in advance, was pointless.Overall we like the location of the hotel, but is as expencive as Pelican Hills, but Pelican Hills rooms much more beautiful and larger, I guess we are paying for ocean sound.

I recently attended a wedding of a very close friend of mine who chose this resort and it was an amazing experience! The valet was more than kind , the front desk was very informative and the atmosphere was phenomenal! The only thing I could possibly think of that was not up to par was the bartenders responsible for taking care of the guests. Dont get me wrong they were extremely nice and very enthusiastic, but their drinks were mixed terribly. I ordered a red bull and vodka which was fine but when I went back to get a Long Island Iced Tea I got a weird concoction of multiple liquors (I know there are multiple liquors in this recipe but they werent the ones I experienced at the wedding.) that tasted horrible and it made my drink yellow. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone trying to escape reality!!

My wife has been staying there for the last 40 years and now every year we gather as many family members as we can and we go they have a nice beautiful beach and a pool that the children go back and forth from the spa to the ocean to warm up the bedrooms are amazing you sleep with a sliding glass door open and you hear the ocean the rooms are nice and clean all the time and everyone is friendly I tell everyone to check it out on YouTube or my personal video you can walk your dog early in the morning during the busy season and all day long off-season they are allowed the beach is great great for walking there is absolutely nothing that I can say about this place I urge everyone to check it out

I gave four stars because I really did like the hotel staff, everyone was so nice but personally this hotel is not for me. I love hearing the waves of the ocean but this was an overkill, to the point that the hotel gives you earplugs. I am not sure if it is the way the building is positioned to the ocean or what but the ocean crashes against the building. You can hear it even when the arcadia window doors are closed. This brings me to the second issue. We visited the third week of July and it was very warm during the day so the room gets very warm, especially if you have to close the door to sleep. There is no air conditioning so it was a bit miserable at times.
