I signed up for an exercise class and walked out in the middle of it in tears. The room was over crowded. I kicked one woman in the head and hit another in the face while doing floor exercises. The teacher expected me to follow my classmates as opposed to her. I felt shy and out of place. I didnt pay to learn from my peers, thank-you. Oak Marr took $23 from me for less than 30 minutes of gossip (most of the people were friends from other classes; listening to them yak was NOT relaxing) and leg lifts. This was in September. It will be January in 2 days. I still have yet to be refunded. Whenever I call they tell me to talk to someone else, who is inevitably out of the office. I just want my money back. Ill stick to working out with professionals on DVD, free from irritating chatter and a hard mat covered in sand granules (my view while exercising? The insides of a utility closet. ) No more Oak Marr for me. P.S. Theyve refunded my money - now Im just after the $13 - I understand the processing fee of $10 - but it was a miserable experience, so Id like the rest back.

Although renovated just three years ago, the fitness center has fallen into disrepair. The fitness tracking equipment was pulled and not replaced. The vinyl and padding on weight machines is badly worn and merely given some tape to cover the cracks. Many machines are broken and stay broken for weeks at a time. The fitness center staff all seem to have left, and you have to ask for the trash to be emptied and paper towel dispensers to be refilled. And lately, theyve decided not to use any air conditioning, which makes for an extra strenuous work-out. Things are improving! The vinyl on the weight-lifting equipment has been replaced and the air-conditioning seems to have been fixed. Lets see if they can keep it up.

My 5 year old son who use to love swim and was and advance student for his age had a bad experience with a rude woman instructor. She shows her preferences for some of the kids and her German accent and unprofessional maners scare him that my son rejected to return to the class even when we signed for two more months. I like the place and the pool is big, I was told that later afternoon are more friendly instructors. Really hope that they choose the instructors more carefully, works with children requiere lots of love and patience!

Very good workout facilities and rarely too crowded. The locker room is kept clean. Has a solid mini golf course. Humongous swimming pool. The only nuisance is the jacuzzi- at least a third of the time it is unavailable, not functioning, or "colder than normal." I love the Fairfax Rec Center multi visit deal, where I can get 20 visits to use within 2 years, or something like that. This is a great deal for folks like me who only go once or twice a week

Despite repeated and formal attempts to deter lifeguards from using windex foaming aerosols during peak swim hours no action was taken. Instead lifeguards acted defiantly and one even hostile to my request. Cleaning aerosols used at Oak Marr are expensive, considered carcinogenic, restrict breathing and may cause skin irritations. Cheaper and equally effective cleaning solutions do exist, but when promoted fall on deaf ears - such ignorance is shameful.

Expensive fees. I paid $10 to swim once. Basically it is one time (one day) facility usage fee, and you can do any activities you want once you pay the fee. But for someone who has a focused fitness goal, like me who is only interested in swimming, $10 fee seems high. I wish that the fee schedule is more flexible. $6 for pool access would be more reasonable. Nice facility though.

so much to do for kids, teens, and adults! Including a fitness center, pool, sauna, driving range, miniature golf course, and more! I just started going here and didnt realize how much they had till recently. You dont even need a membership for a year or anything you can just buy a one month pass, or pay daily. Great place to get active and have fun! Incredibly good prices too id say.

One of the best things is how much Jennifer the swimming instructor cares about the children. She makes sure the kids have fun while they are learning and she is so great with taking extra time to teach those that need more attention. You can feel safe about your children here.

This is a brand new facility. Previously we used to go to the Reston Community Center, and this place is far better in terms of design, lighting, environment, amenities, the pool, equipment... The list goes on. Though a bit on the costlier side, it is worth it.

Always happy here. A huge variety of cardio and free weights. I spend most time downstairs with the free weights and barely ever have to wait for anything, even with several others at the gym. Kept clean and everything in working order. Bright, good wifi.

Out of all the people that go here Im surprised only the malcontents have spoken up. This facility is great. I dont go for personal trainers, I go to use their facilities and they are a total bargain.
