We ate here a few months ago for my birthday dinner with my husband and daughter. I asked for a nice table because it was my birthday and I was seated at a table next to a pole? The service was pretty good at the beginning of the meal and the bread they started you out with and the beet salad were exceptional...the rest not so good at all. My scallops entree was cold. When I was finally able to flag the waiter down, he took it back to the kitchen. Came back hot but VERY salty. I wondered if this was the old "never send it back" syndrome or this food was really this bad all the time. My husband had the mushroom soup. Bland, underseasoned... I started with the beet salad which as I said was exceptional. My entrée was the smaller portion scallop starter. I came to me cold. for credit, when the server finally came to check back, I told her and she immediately had it taken care of. I did received a new order, hot but very salty. Not sure if a payback for sending it back or they found the salt they forgot in the mushroom soup. My husband order the steak and a side dish. The steak was very fatty and the little casserole side dish was terrible....especially for $35. My daughter had a chicken dish which was passable but the side of Brussel sprouts was not charred, but burnt. I always look for a new and exciting place for my birthday dinner. After hearing so many good things about Terrain, I was glad to choose it. But for the $120 dinner, we walked away feeling robbed. (After the fixed the overcharge for my starter.) As a follow up, I sent a letter to the manager of Terrain giving them a courtesy of responding to my poor experience several months ago and have not received any communication from them. I guess they dont really care about their customers

Terrain is a gorgeous home and garden store that transports you to the bohemian chic of Sonoma wine country. Were enjoying a relaxing dinner and noshing on the bread that arrived to our table in a terra cotta pot. The duck duo (breast and confit) was served atop a bed of braised cabbage that was punctuated with the acidity of a vinegar and accompanied by oversized corn bread croutons, overall a really nice dish! My partner ordered the local cheese platter, which includes a mix of hard and soft cheeses with pickled vegetables, honey, apple slices, and toast. I came back the next day and had the gem salad with pan seared salmon, toasted chickpeas, avocado and sweet potato slices, and tomatoes. It was outstanding and at the right portion. Youll spend $30 for lunch for one and $50 min without alcohol per person for dinner. As for the retail experience, I felt like I was at Flora Grubb Gardens, a favorite garden store of mine back in San Francisco, but Terrain has more acreage and buildings to accommodate even more inventory. They carry gorgeous handmade jewelry, personal care and pantry items youd find at Anthropologie, lighting, and best of all a great selection of healthy plants. Youll find all you need to create terrariums, or you can buy the pre-made ones. They also carry Weck, a favorite canning jar that comes with clips and a rubber ring. Youll recognize a lot of the serving ware from the cafe for sale in the store. Wander freely and be inspired! The prices are expensive but definitely items you wont find elsewhere.

This could be a five star restaurant if the service were better. The bread is baked in a clay flower pot. It is delicious and comes with sweet butter but they only give you a piece about the size of a muffin for the whole table. The water is served in small mason jars that are hard to drink from. The cheese board and salads were absolutely unique and excellent. The truffle fries were soggy yet still delicious. The steak was really fatty but the halibut was among the greatest plates I have ever tasted. The coffee and deserts were surprisingly mediocre but the real problem was the service. I honestly think the waitress wanted to kill us all. She was seething in hatred and gritted her teeth if you asked for water or anything. My friends brought some really good wine but the waitress broke the cork in the bottle than ran away leaving us unable to get the wine out of the bottle. Overall, stunning environment, great food, horrible service.

First lets start with the setting. Yes, it is in a landscape place, but the plants they sell is high quality, and they have stuff you cant find anywhere else. The indoor store has really nice rustic styled home amenities and other cool items, like the terrariums, kitchen stuff, hanging garden stuff, etc. So there is much to look at. Now, the main dining area is enclosed in an air conditioned greenhouse with hanging plants all around you. Very picturesque setting, view of the sky. Menu isnt large, theres more fish that I would have expected, but I opted for the lamb burger. The complimentary bread is almost in the shape of an ice cream cone and is served in a ceramic pot for plants. We ordered the apple truffles which were very tasty. My lamb burger had good sauces, arugula, and a side of baked fingerling fries. The burger was a bit dry, but still tasty. I would recommend this for a weekend brunch or anyday lunch.

The restaurant is lovely but quite loud. its a BYOB so diners should be aware of that fact. My husband had a burrata salad with peaches that was quite good. He had the vegetarian entrée which was a small serving. He was still hungry when we left. I had the smoked brisket which, as far as I could tell, was not smoked (no smoke ring, nor did it taste smoked). I smoke my own brisket so I do have some experience. It was a very large fatty slab of meat with a couple of pickled veggies on top. Expensive and quite disappointing. We would not go back. Service was good, however. Additionally you couldnt lock the door to the loo. Someone almost walked in on me while I was using it. They could definitely do better, especially for the price ($71 for the three items and two nonalcoholic drinks, not including tip).

This place is truly eye candy for anyone. If you enjoy gardening or landscaping spend a short afternoon within their outdoor walls. They sell high quality goods that are rare in some cases. They also have a gift shop that allows to pick up the unexpected gift for a friend whos day you may want to brighten and a limited but very tasty menu for an afternoon lunch with the ladies or even your sugnificant other in their outdoor and indoor cafe. I love this place and highly recommend it. If you are looking to score a deal, ummmm, not sure you will find one, however, the experience alone will find you wanting to go back time and time again simply to stimulate your visual senses. Take a look at some of the photos I posted.

Really good place. Weve been meaning to go here for a while and finally made it. The good is really good and the atmosphere is great. Sit outside if you get a chance. We got an omelette which was delicious, as well as their burger. It tasted great, my only gripe is that it was well done, when I always ask for medium. A side of bacon was really good and our 4 year old loved her pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. We also got their masala chai, blackberry chai, and watermelon mint lemonade which were really good. Overall we were very satisfied. Service was great as well. And almost forgot, but their bread and honey rosemary butter was out of this world.
