OMG! OMG! OMG! Excellent fish Dinner!!!!! I tend to visit new places and always try a fish fry. (And a corned Beef Reuben.) So since it was Friday, we stopped to try the fish. WOW! It has to be the best fish fry I have ever had! And I have been having them since 1975! Flaky, not greasy AT ALL and with such delicate flavors. I had the Deep fried Cod, and my friend had it broasted. We both tried each others and came to the same conclusion. They also serve it broiled too. For sides, It came with coleslaw. This was pretty much your typical KFC flavor and therefore was very tasty. It also came with hand cut fries. While the home cut fries were a bit limp, they were very good none-the-less. Just like I remember them as a kid. There was also a side of pork and beans. You could tell they were home made as well. Very, very good! There is served as an appetizer, (If you enjoy a fresh doughnut right from the fryer), Indian Fry bread! It simply melts in your mouth. The honey butter that comes with will make it even better. My party and I totally enjoyed every bite. (2 small versions come with your fish fry, but its like eating desert first!) Since our meal Friday night was beyond our expectations for a spot in a sleepy town such as Lac Du Flambeau, we just had to stop back the next day for their Pizza. REMARKABLE! Thin crispy crust and PLENTY of toppings! Ok enough about the food! So Instead of rambling on, I cannot say enough good things about the food here. it makes me think that any bad reviews found here cannot be the the norm for this place. If it was, this is no longer the case! The only con I would add, is that since this place is on the reservation, smoking is allowed in the building. But if you sit out on the porch, this isnt a concern. And anyway, the view is wonderful of Lake Flambeau! The staff: Very Nice! Very! Prompt service and very polite. We felt like eating at some friends party vs. at a restaurant. Thats all that needs to be said. As to the cost of meals, very reasonable. 2 large tap beers (Spotted Cow), a 16" pizza and a Fry Bread appetizer came to just under $38 plus tip. Many thanks to the great staff at the Flame. You made an enjoyable weekend even better!

HORRIBLE! We shouldve turned around and walked out when we heard the waitress tell a customer "heres your bill. Im so sorry, you shouldnt have had to wait so long for your dinner." But no, we stayed. We shouldve left when she told us they were all out of their 12" and 16" pizzas which theyre "famous for" but we stayed. She then told us they were also out of cheese curds and most of their sandwich supplies...yep we stayed! After asking what was safe to order we were told the burgers and fried bread were definitely available. So we ordered up 4 burgers, 1 beer, an old fashioned, 2 sodas and an order of fried bread. The fried bread with honey butter is why the review gets a 1 star...it was fabulous and the only thing worth merit. We ate the bread which arrived promptly but waited another 30 minutes for our drinks. Mind you it wasnt busy. We received our drinks and waited another hour and 15 minutes for our dinner just as we were about to pack up the family and find a McDonalds at 8:40pm. During this wait we were not asked if we wanted another appetizer or refills on drinks. We did get to see the local law enforcement interview someone at the bar and our son said there were several squad cars in the parking lot. Our waitress explained that our burgers needed to be thawed before they could be cooked...well then I wish I had known you werent prepared to cook the ONE thing available on your extensive menu. On our way out a family of 8 with 4 little ones walked out without eating. As one of the children screamed "I hate this place and their stupid long time to eat" I noticed right next to The Flame - Famous Pizzas is a For Sale by Remax sign. Lesson learned...if theres a For Sale sign and it looks like a dump from the outside, keep driving.

Inconsistent food and service. The tables in the restaurant sections were empty when we arrived with a hand full of customers at the bar. Were seated promptly at an inside table with a nice view of the lake. Ordered some lemonade for starter drinks and waiter disappeared for 15 minutes setting up what looked like a pizza party in the outdoor dining area (no customers of that party had arrived yet). The waiter finally came back to our table with our drinks and we ordered the fish fry which included hot fry bread, coleslaw and baked beans. The waiter disappeared again for 15 minutes working on the pizza party and I could see my hot fry bread getting cold at the the kitchen window. Finally I asked her about the order and she saw the fry bread was ready and brings it to our table (by that time it was luke warm to cold. After 45 minutes arriving at the restaurant our fish fry order was up at the kitchen window and the waiter was now where in sight, so I had to ask another waiter about it. A little while later the waiter did bring our fish fry basket to out table and it was not cold. The customers who ordered the pizza party in the outside seating area arrived about this time to cold pizza and beer. Yes pizza out of the oven and placed on the tables 30 minutes before the customers arrived.

Wow. I go to Lac du Flambeau three or four times a year, and this place is totally inconsistent. There are times we go and have a blast, other times the atmosphere it too much. Ive never been there with out a fight breaking out, more than once I found a white powder on the back of the toilet (THATS classy!), the employees are frequently rude, and to top it all off I had the displeasure of seeing the owner getting a lap dance from some 40-something year old blond lady. Im thinking, this will stop soon, but nope! He then pulls her top off. Disgusting. Last time I will ever go there. Its too bad too, I really enjoy their pizza and its so convenient to just park my pontoon and waltz on in.

Terrible!!!! We waited almost an hour for our food,and there was only a couple of tables full.the cheese curds werent done,the chicken strips were soggy,the fries tasted like they were made in a microwave, the hamburger I got didnt taste like hamburger, took one bite and spit it out in my napkin, my daughter took a bite of hers and did the same. I also watched the waitress clean up a spill on the floor with a paper towel and her hands and never washed her hands afterwards but instead serve food. This place should be closed!!!

I will never go here again. We went right before the lunch rush. Even thou there was only one other table, it still took 40 minutes for us to get our food. The broasted chicken was dry and cold. The meat on the Indian taco was cold and lacking flavor. The womens bathroom didnt have toilet paper or anything to dry your hands. We paid way too much for the skimpy portion of food. Absolutely terrible.
