Despite being in decent shape and affordable, the rangers customer service was awful. Things started off okay when the ranger let us tee off 30 min early but stuck us behind a foursome and threesome. He told us we would be able to play through so we figured things would be smooth sailing. As a twosome, we understood the larger groups had the option to let us play through or not so we didnt persist once things got slow (2 holes in). However, after not being waved through for 5 holes, we asked the ranger to speed up pace of play or ask the group if we could play through but he completely ignored our request...fine. At the turn, we didnt stop and went directly to the 10th tee to bypass the foursome in hopes of picking up the pace of play. Upon teeing off, the ranger came back and demanded to know how we passed the foursome. We explained that we didnt stop in order to try and get out in front and we were hoping to play through the threesome. The ranger wouldnt accept this demanding that we follow the course rules. He then gave us the ultimatum to either get back behind the foursome or skip two holes to pass the threesome. We obviously jumped ahead despite missing a couple holes. But it didnt stop there. Upon teeing off on #12, the ranger shows up again threatening to kick us off the course. Were completely confused only to find out that either we have to pair up with a twosome ahead of us, or leave (note that the course was nearly empty after the two groups we passed leaving us utterly confused). We did as he demanded, though, but couldnt figure out what the power trip was all about. Fortunately, there were no more issues, but both my playing partner and I were totally annoyed and irritated that we had to skip 3 of the holes...good golf courses dont handle slow play like that. Living in DC, I dont have many golf options nearby so Im willing to drive an hour or so to play. And while golfers usually judge a course based on fairways, greens, and pace of play, customer service is just as important. This course is very nice and I recommend it if customer service were not a concern, however, I will not go back because of the terrible customer service. For me, theres more to golf than fairways and greens. If that were the case, this review would be 4 or 5 stars. If you choose to play the course, I hope youre treated better than we were.

Summary of my play on this course for the past fifteen years. Course: -Layout is boring on the front as the holes are back and forth across the creek. Think of a bowling alley with lanes and players right next to each other. -Layout on the back is much better than the front. One hole on the back (14 only par five on the course you can use a diver to rip and grip) has rough splitting the two fairways. From every tee and if you have a decent drive, you will end up in the rough that splits the two fairways. Poor structure to this hole. Tees are fair to good, would rate them to at a 5 to 6 out of a 10. -Greens have always been decent, 6 to 7 out of a ten. They could be much better if they advertised divot repair. The greens are notrios for having multiple divots on the green that never get repaired. -Green fees are very poor and they dont give 9 hole rates. They charge for 18 holes, even forma twilight rate when it is known that no player will ever play past 9 holes, especially later in the fall and winter season. The prices in general are much higher than local and better courses in the area. -Course staff is by far the worst of all the 16 courses I play in the Northern Virginia area. In short, you are treated as a quota and not as a golfer, at this course. I believe this has something to do with having an under the table poor customer staff rating over the years. That and no company that has and continue to help manage the course over the years for Dr. Kim (owner) prioritizes efforts to address the poor customer service. To note and as public record will show, this course is had a law suite against them for some very unprofessional and fishy things they are trying to implement. As a scratch golfer (42 years old) and having played golf since I could walk, I find this course overall well under the level of decent. Also to note, this course is within one mile of my home but I would rather drive many miles to play at golf courses that are half as good but offer much better customer service. From all the courses around, I would rate the course amongst the few poorest in my area.

The manor is a beautiful venue. I went to a murder mystery dinner they hosted on Halloween weekend and it was a great time. I was having my wedding there two weeks later and I was less than impressed with how the wedding coordinator handled things. Thats putting it mildly. As the groom I felt completely ignored, even when asked directly what I wanted I would tell her and she would ignore it and do something completely different. She even blatantly ignored me and walked passed me a few times as I was trying to ask a question or make a request that both my bride and I wanted. She even told a member of our party that "she only listens to the bride". When we finally got to the reception we found that our wedding party was across the room and no where near us and both our parents tables were in the corners even farther away from us. They stopped calling tables to go and get food at the buffet before they got to my parents table who was second to last. It was ridiculous. They also didnt honor a few things that we had in the contract. Theres a bit more but I will end it here. Its a beautiful venue but as long as they have a coordinator like that there I dont recommend it for your wedding.

My husband and I just held our wedding at the Bristow Manor House in June. It was amazing! Prior to the wedding date we met with Brittany to discuss logistics and all, and then we had the pleasure of meeting with Emily, the Event Coordinator. Everyone is wonderful, friendly and so willing to help in any way possible. They truly make you feel like you are the only one there and do anything they can to meet your needs. The Manor House is very well kept. It is so warm and inviting, not at all like an older house you might think. We had an effortless wedding day, all staff was wonderful, Emily did the best job ever keeping things in line and under control, and Brittany was always willing to help us find the best way to go about with the finances and options of everything to fit our budget. Love you guys!!! _Stephany and Diego

Didnt know where to document slow play, under Quality or Service, so hit them both. We like the layout of the course, and the price is good. The most confounding aspect at Bristow Manor is the slow play. 6 hours is not uncommon. On Sunday we had just played 12 excruciatingly slow holes, waiting on EVERY shot, and as were leaving the green a ranger pulled up and asked us to try to pick up the pace! I was furious. The rangers have no idea how to figure out where the slow players are. How can that be? We had one ranger stop and ask us if we knew where the holdup was, and then went on to explain there were three holes open in front of 12. Huh?
