The staff are very knowledgeable & friendly when first addressed or asked a question. The animals appear to be kept in very capable hands that also address the need for conservation. I love the educational information available to those who care. Although Salt Lake City isnt my favorite travel destination, the location is rather pleasant being within a city park. I have participated in the sun conure, pelican & flamingo feedings & enjoyed them all. However, my enjoyment of each were different. The flamingo feeding does include admission for two as well as the experience for those two so that is nice. However, the experience is a work in progress for the flamingos are being trained to eat from a bowl that one holds instead of merely eating from a feeding pool. I still enjoyed feeding them via the pool with the South American ducks, but wouldnt highly recommend the experience until the flamingos are trained & reliably come to the bowl. Therefore, hopefully in due time it will become a great experience that most should consider. The sun conure feeding is nice because the adorable little parrots will land on you more often than not. Therefore, it is a must for anyone wanting to have a bird on them for a moment. Lastly, the pelican feeding is my favorite because you are given a good amount of fish to feed them with & it is so amazing to witness them catch & eat the fish. The bird shows are great & hence, very popular. On busy days, do not be surprised if the shows fill up well before the shows begin. Therefore, like most other attractions, weekdays are better unless it is spring break or something comparable to it. In conclusion, I recommend going here if you want to learn more about birds, feed some birds & admire a variety of birds from around the world. If you dont like birds, then obviously you should stay away.

I come to Tracy Aviary about once a year and Ive enjoyed the experience more each time! I really like the aviary- all the animals look healthy and all cages and areas are well cared for. Its very peaceful and calming. My absolute favorite is the section in the back which I believe is "Destination Argentina." There is a little enclosure that you enter in through a door and suddenly you are surrounded by small, live, exotic birds, some within a foot of you just happily chirping away. I could stand in this enclosure forever! And as you exit it you soon come to the Chilean Flamingos which are my favorite birds of the whole place- completely hilarious as they are constantly turning their heads stiffly and every minute or so a few get into a territorial fight with each other and make a ruckus. Sure to be a hit with kids! Be sure to bring some quarters to get some designated feed pellets from machines to feed the ducks in the ponds. The only downsides I see to the aviary is that there are quite a few "unfinished" areas along the pathways with no decoration (which is probably because it is still undergoing renovation, though the new fancy gift shop/entrance as well as the newly built South American Pavilion feel very expensive and top notch), and it can feel like a bit of a letdown once youve gone through all the displays because its over fairly quickly. Im a person that loves any and all animals so I thoroughly love this peaceful and quiet aviary even if its not as "flashy" as the zoo and a little rough around the edges. But this is coming from a person that loved Logans dinky city zoo (hidden treasure!) so take from that what you will! :)

We loved the Tracy Aviary so much that we decided to hold my sons 5th birthday party there. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we were expecting. First, we communicated with the event coordinator at the time the party was scheduled that we wanted to add on the bird feeding encounters (pelican feed and Amazon adventure). We were told to wait to the day of the party to purchase tickets because some guests may not want to hold a dead fish or have a bird land on them (made total sense). However, after telling our guests it was part of the plan, the tickets had almost completely sold out. Very disappointing! Also, the $175 Toucan Package states the birthday child will receive a gift, which he DID NOT get. Also, the tour was so rushed, most of our pre-school aged guests struggled to keep up and were left behind. Also, the parking situation made it very challenging to carrying items brought from home. Lastly, my husband and I paid for the package in full upon arrival, but as we were leaving with our arms full of boxes, we were harassed in front of of guests about not paying our bill and we had to argue with the workers to track down the cashier who checked us in. Calls and e-mails to the staff were not returned. Think twice before scheduling a birthday party here!

I went to the Tracy Aviary for Breakfast with the Birds. I have been going to this event for years and am always pleasantly surprised. The event and the Aviary change every year. The landscape absolutely blows me away. The moment you walk on grounds you forget you are in the city. You never know what birds you will see just walking around with you. We fed crane chicks, saw a great green macaw, Swainsons hawk, and a milky eagle owl. The bird show is quite a surprise. The theater is intimate and a dozen different species of birds fly within inches of your head. They also have many opportunities get on stage and participate for adults and kids. Lets not forget about the exhibits. The landscape is incorporated right into the exhibits. It is nothing like the barren spaces you see when you visit most zoos. Step into the new exhibit Treasures of the Rainforest with the plants, humidity, heat, sounds and birds and you feel like you have been transported. If you want to get close to nature the Tracy Aviary is the place.

No chicken wire and peacocks here, man! This exhibit offers a surprising display of rare birds within an impressive facility that is clean, easy to navigate and maximizes the viewing of these amazing birds. While the overall cost is not prohibitive (7 dollars adults, 5 dollars child), Tracy Aviary is constantly offering deals on discounted or free admission to the exhibits. Keep an eye out! Sites like Coupons4Utah does a great job of tracking the latest deals. The facility is impressive with award-winning structures that have been nationally recognized in both the architectural and structural engineering industries. Really unique. My one regret? We didnt stay long enough to feed the Sun Conures. So, if you are looking for an excuse to get your kids out of the house, Liberty Park is a great option, and consider giving Tracy Aviary a quick look. It just may surprise you.

Having been to multiple aviaries around the world, Tracy Aviary definitely holds its own. The grounds are not large, but the exhibits are nicely laid out and beautifully arranged. Plan for two to three hours to explore thoroughly. You can tell the quality of care by the state of a birds plumage, and these birds were pristine. Most exhibits had an indoor and outdoor section, with a variety of plants and toys. Their eagles are rescue birds, enabling them to be housed in pens without screening -- perfect photo opportunities. Definitely make a stop or two at the Keas cage, their antics will make your day! The aviary is a member of AZA, so if you have a membership elsewhere you may get free or discounted admission.
