Myself and a friend are a regulars at MadDogs during lunch hour as we work downtown on the Riverwalk. Today was the absolute WORST experience we have EVER had! We waited for over 15 minutes after being seated before I myself had to get up and ask the hostess for a waitress to come to our table. The restaurant was not at all busy during this time (which is why we go during our lunch hour). 5 tables at most. Another 5 minutes went by and we finally had someone come to our table. Very rudely asked "what do we want to drink" and the service just went completely down hill from there, if at all possible. She never once asked how we were doing or how our food was. It was as if we were a bother to her doing her job. She was basically non existent and the only way to get her attention was to flag her down or actually get up to get her attention. To top it off, my first drink had lip prints all around the edge of the glass. I myself had to get up and get a new drink. With all this being said, we will not be back for a great while nor will I ever recommend anyone to come here and I work at a hotel down the street where people are always asking where to go. I understand the environment and the demographics of the staff, however this is not at all an excuse to provide such lousy service.

As a regular to MadDogs with both the guys and my family reading some of the other reviews made me laugh - You reviewers need to read up on your history and geography, the last time I looked the British Isles also includes Scotland!!! So your comments about kilts are redundant! I think the kilts look great! Last time i was there I almost bought one - takes some guts to wear one next time maybe! lol @Holliday - at the weekends it does get very busy and you will see spotted around the place the saying "The Pub that thinks its a Club" so you where spot on with your observations! Not sure why your complaining? @Manjo - Dont have drinks you cant handle! LOL @John - the law says you gotta be 21years old to drink no exceptions - the place could get fined or worse, you where breaking the law am sorry thats your fault not theres.... Well we go on a Friday night for Beat The Clock specials so those complaining about the price of beer - i dont know what time you go but we where getting $1, $2 and $3 drinks from 8pm till around 11pm last night so no complaints here just a minor hangover! lol When people come from out of town and even the UK I take them here, food is good, drinks are good, atmosphere is great - considering it is the Riverwalk prices are good too! Would recommend! :)

Today is 11 Dec 2016. Will and I have a FB convention at 123 Losoya Regency. We took lunch a little after 2 PM. I ordered Fish & Chips, which was great plate. This time I had real English fries compare to the 7th at Lions & Roses in the RIM. Really enjoined. But the beer services were way off the table. I had a Stella at first, after finished a cig outside come back, and another Stella was on the table. I didnt order it, I prefer try different beers. After two mugs, feel need a double IPA on closing lunch. Order was placed and starts to wait, until we were told "We dont have it". Thats OK, I just change another kind. And then I saw a gent at other table had a Stout over Cider. It reminds me to order that one, since I just had it 5 days ago. After a certain time of waiting I still did not have the drink, I mocked up drinking the Soy Sauce on the table. Finally we were told the cider line were broken. OK, just change my order to Bass, after the bass were in halfway, I realize WAIT a minute, if the line were broken how come the other gentlemen had it. At last I got a absolute free StoutBowHeaveyBowCider. Thanks MD P.S. At the time one of the three gents found there is something in his drink at another table, I was yelling "Scorpion". LOL

I went to this place solely because of the British theme. I was expecting an English pub type atmosphere, with British beer on tap, and possibly some British sports playing on the t.v. I came in on a Sunday when the English Premier League soccer games are played. They had Newcastle and Guinness (whoop dee doo), and a lot of American macro-lagers like Bud Light on tap. They were loudly blaring country music and the t.v.s were all tuned to NFL games. I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie, which I though would be a traditional British meat pie. NO. This was simply cold roast beef and it was not in a "pie" filling. They had some flaky croissant on the side, and it was COLD. I ordered the meal and it came out in less than 1 minute, which tells me that it was just in the back waiting there. I ended up paying 23 bucks for a mediocre Newcastle and some cold roast beef. Would not go back under any circumstances.

Bar was great atmosphere and server Shelby was awesome. 4 of us went for karaoke because it was the only place to go on a Monday night for tourists. If you are just wanting to hear karaoke then its great but if you want to sing be prepared to wait. The 2 lady KJ team sang 7 times before everyone who signed up even finished singing their second song. I guess they were in concert when paying patrons came there to sing but had to hear them every third song. There was several people that left as we talked to a couple that said "We got here, turned in a song and 45 minutes later the KJs are on their 3rd song and we havent sang yet so we are leaving." We were only on vacation so we dont have to worry about it but I wouldnt go back with them there unless the paying patrons came first.

We have lived in SA for 25 so we have been to the RW many, many times. The only reason we were down this time was Notre Dame was in town. We were pleased to see the place wasnt packed (when we arrived). Fish and chips were excellent! Wait staff were on the ball and very friendly. We will be back! Now for the One Star. That bathroom is entirely too small to have a big dude in there working for tips by squirting soap in my hands. I wanted to walk up to the mirror but couldnt because this dude standing there waiting on me to take a pee. Now having an attendant in a restroom can be pulled off but this bathroom is way too small. 5 Stars when this practice is no longer available. Nice place though!

Take cash only because these shifty "bartenders" will add in gratuity even after youve left cash. Thanks Nora J & Cassandra who are listed on my receipt yet never once served me & my friend. I nicely tipped cash of $5 more than 20% of my total to a male bar back who actually rushed me ordering two draft beers when they were SLOW... Left a note on the ticket about not letting the staff be rude during slow times [Friday]. Watched an actual bartender walk directly to the computer & plug in an extra gratuity. Ill work on getting to talk to a manager to let them know this shady practice is going on in case they dont know but Im sure they wont care.
