My husband and I just moved into a new home this weekend. We called around town to all of the local fish stores to get a quote on getting some help to move our fish tank. I am 8 months pregnant and found this to be a priority. River City Aquatics not only gave us the most reasonable and fair pricing, but truly went above and beyond our expectations. They handled and took care of our fish with such perfection- we are truly blown away! Not only was the staff beyond professional handling the equipment, fish, etc they went to extremes to make sure our old house and new house flooring were taken care of as well through out the process. It was completely obvious they put thought into every action before taking it. I can not thank them enough for all of their tedious and hard work to bring our fish and coral back safely into our new home. I highly recommend River City to anyone that might have questions about moving fish/tanks- they are the real deal!

Nice service is great and all, but shouldnt they be knowledgeable and have healthy fish? My first question to them was why so much ich. The guy said they get orders in where most of the fish have ich. Second question was why they were treating puffers for ich with copper in 3 different tanks. Puffers are scaleless. This kills them. One of those puffers was in the main display tank. It was about 10 inches long and can from a customer. He had lived successfully in captivity for many years. When I mentioned this, I got a "you dont know what youre talking about" answer. The puffer was dead the next week. That was the last time I went there. A few months later, a co-worker told me his tank came down with ich. I asked if he got a new fish from river city. He said yes. It wiped out all of his fish.

This place has a great group of knowledgeable guys that any beginner could rely on. have gone above and beyond for me on a few occasions plus their prices seem reasonable in a manner to promote and educate on the fun of being an aquriast not just to sell tanks and betas. (Plus free pizza and beer one Friday a month is definitely a bonus). The only reason Im leaving off a star is parking and limited supply of certain products , However last time I ventured in the were pretty impressive with their supply of replacement parts and chemicals. Keep up the good work guys.

From the minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile. And theres no smell so instantly we found RCA to be a great place to make our first fish tank purchase. The staff and owner (Jake) are knowledgeable and in more than just spouting out fancy Latin names for fish; they worked hard to stay in our budget. The discounts and club membership allowed us to invest in a nano and 55 gallon on what we budgeted. After just one week of shopping, my family has new additions and a great hobby for everyone. Thank you all!

Great staff. Called the day prior to being able to go up there to the store and talked to I believe Jason just to ask if they had a male venustus for sale. Didnt ask to hold the fish for me or anything. I just said I wouldnt be able to make it the day I called and when I got there the next day there was a note on the aquarium saying to hold the male venustus till I got there so super helpful and great group going beyond expectations. Will be going back for more peacocks and haps defiantly

I would definitely recommend River City Aquatics to any fish lover, the staff is very friendly and keep their environments very clean and safe for the fish. They have a selection of both salt water and fresh water fish here. As a fairly new aquarium owner I have a lot of questions I come in with, and theyre always ready to answer with really helpful tips to keeping your tank healthy for the little guys. Love this place and usually come in a few times a month. Check them out!

These people are unpretentious and have a very pleasant aquatic store, with a special touch that you will not find just anywhere: a table and two chairs in front of a huge fish tank where one can relax and enjoy the aquatic scene. They have a variety of freshwater fish (Im a freshwater fish aquarist) and the tanks are clean and well-maintained. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable and will go out of their way to help customers.

All of the fish we have bought from this store have died and we have been by twice in the last month there are always fish dying everywhere in their tanks. The snails we got have done just fine though. Crabs not so much. They are friendly and nice people but I do worry where they get their new fish from as they clearly arent doing well.

Good selection of livestock but they tend to specialize in African chichlids ans some saltwater, South American or Asian livestock or plants are only an occasional inventory item. Staff is generally friendly but only a few are really well versed in the livestock and inventory. Facility is very simply laid out and easy to browse.

The guy that helped us was very knowledgeable and very patient. The store looked good they had some small construction going on but nothing major. All the fish and coral looked healthy and well maintained, overall very pleased with this place its a shame I dont live in Austin or else I would make that my LFS of choice.

In my opinion the best saltwater store in Austin. They are very helpful and if they dont have the fish you are looking for, they will order it for you on their next shipment. They also have more fish than most stores. I used to be an Aquatek customer, but now im RCA all the way! Will be back for more. Highly recommended

Just got started on my 120 gallon saltwater aquarium. The staff has been excellent, helping me every way through the step. Just moved to the Austin area and will only shop here. Good prices and even better people. I will continue to do all of my business here. I would recommend this store to any enthusiast.

Excellent and professional staff! Their prices are really reasonable and the quality of the fish is like 10 times better than the fish at PetSmart/Petco... you can just tell by how clear the water is and how active the fish are, (bright, alert, high coloring) that the fish arent stressed. Would def come back!

This is one of the best places in Austin for the home aquarist. They have good selection and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. And they have great hours - open hours helpful for people with full time jobs (not closed at 7PM).

This store sold me a Maleri African Cichlid for $45. I was told this is was male cichlid that would color up, however it turned out to be a female cichlid that will not color up. No receipt was given to me so I have to deal with it.

Really good folks here, bought a 45 gallon consignment tank that ended up not working out for me and he took it back and gave me cash after a week with no receipt. That kind of customer services gets customer loyalty..
