I wouldnt even give 1 star if I had that option. We are from out of town and it was my birthday weekend. My girlfriend and I brought 5 of our closest friends to Nashville to party. (Let me just say ALL 7 of us are 35 or older, just wanted a mommy get-a-way, are responsible adults and are not trouble makers.) We had heard good things about PLAY so we decided to hit up a few different bars and end the night there. Everyone wanted to dance and have fun. BUT apparently they do not want you having a good time while the "show" is going on..... We noticed we were the only ones dancing by the bar while the "show" was going on. We were tipping the dancers AND had spent about 300 dollars at the bar in the short time we were there. We were cheering the dancers on and having a good time just waiting for the dance floor to open. My gf goes out to smoke and was talking to a bouncer (she never meets a stranger and will talk to anyone) and this dude kept rolling his eyes towards her to other guest. Rude. It wasnt 5 minutes after that that we were told she needed to leave bc she was to drunk. She wasnt causing a scene, she wasnt fighting, she wasnt stubbling, she wasnt loud or abnoxious. So of course if she leaves we all leave. You just lost a lot of money! We just wanted to dance and have a good time but apparently you cant do that in this club. If you want to go watch a drag show where you CANT dance or sing while your tipping their dancers, and you just have to stand there lame as hell then this is your place. If you actually want to dance and have fun I suggest you go elsewhere. We were told on the way out that there was a "lesbian" gay bar right down the road we could go to. So apparently this place is only for gay men? Maybe the front door should say that! They obviously dont want the money from people who have it to spend. Period. We will NEVER go back and we will never recommend this place to anyone.

I used to party in South Florida where I grew up and went to college, and Ive partied in Spain, Germany, and...you get the picture. Anyways, this place is like the only place in Nashville to go to if you really love to dance, (the dancefloor is huge and is unparalleled by all clubs in Nashville that usually have little squares for you to dance in by the bar), and want to avoid nasty guys that grope you in other clubs.(Ive had to bring my stun gun to other clubs to avoid being practically raped on the floor and these are nice clubs, even the Vegas styled one at Opry Mills..but no worries at Play) It can be a great night or a boring or bad night, just depending on the situation. There have been times when the music was so good, I danced until it closed. Then there have been times where the music sucked so bad, I left within an hour. I went with a group of friends once and my best friend got kicked out for being drunk. She was only dancing, didnt hurt anybody, she was just happy and was a bit buzzed like the rest of us. She bothered nobody, and was with our clique the whole time. Shes also super tiny and petite so I dont know how they noticed her out of the crowd! Our whole group spent so much $ at the bar, and I couldnt believe they kicked her out, thus kicking the rest of us out! Ive never had to leave a club before--ever. That was in someone elses review below. Why do they do that? I mean, dont sell alcohol if you dont want people to get buzzed. I come in buzzed bc I drink before coming and nobody has ever said anything to me before, but maybe thats cause I wear nice clothes? I dunno. People watching here is fun--there are all sorts of people you wont see downtown like trannies and drag queens. Alot of them are very nice too.

They almost let a person die there because the bouncer was an idiot and couldnt get control of the mob. Meanwhile, when somone volunteers to help a person who was NOT breathing and aspirating on the floor, they try to push the only person who is medially trained to help. After the Paramedic took his bare hands and removed the vomit and the chunk of chicken out of her throat, then she came awake. The Manager is a moron, tried to grab the medic, and then when the medic pushed back, the moron manager tried to press charges to the medic who saved the girls life!!!! They are so ignorant. The staff should go back to doing what the do best and that only involves them on their knees. Oh and another thing, I personally believe that they got obtuse wtiht the medic because there is sooo much drugs in that place and they felt that the medic would tell. It is my single goal in life for the next year to tell EVERONE what transpired there. Listen to nashville 1040 AM I will be telling the story over and over again. Say goodbye to your pathetically run business. The person I feel sorry for the most is the owner who probably has no clue what is going on there

The drag show was amazing, the music was great. BUT when we exited the building out the side smoker door the gentleman who had a head set on opened the door for us and we said thank you went out to my car to get a tampon and we went to re-enter i flashed the lady at the door my wrist band to show that I had paid. I was THEN told that we are not allow to go in and out the building........ WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS WHEN WE LEFT THE BUILDING. Their answer was "there is no way that we can allow yall back in" then why didnt someone say that when we walked out ???? why dont you have it posted anywhere for it be seen by anyone???? the lady PULLED my arm so she could cut off my wrist band and gave my id and we left. I felt that we were not treated correctly or politely and that this situation was not handle correctly at all. We where treated very rudely and we where out $15. Great night thanks Play.

Went to Play for New Years Eve 2013. Cover charge was $20.00. Advertised party favors and champagne at midnight. Only party favors provided were "free" logo stuff from Sky Vodka. No noisemakers, no horns, etc.. just cheap paper hats. And the champagne. NEVER saw any. Asked at bar at 12:05 and they said it was all gone. What? Very misleading. Only saw total of (3) bartenders in the whole bar. No excuse for NYE. Service sucked! The place was packed, music was ok but nothing great, and drag show was a lot of fun! But for $20.00 I expected more. Not like it used to be.

Play has an exciting and care free atmosphere, which is want you want from a good night club. I have never had a bad time at Play. The dance floor is always popping and the drag show is great. You do not have to be a member of LGBT community to have a good time here. My boyfriend and I love coming to Play when we feel like a night of drinks and dancing. At Play everyone is respected for who they are and people can be their true selves.
