My first stay at Ocean Lakes was pleasant until the last day. The accommodations are very nice and my wife and I felt that they were excellent. We were close to the beach, rates were reasonable and campsites were level with full hook up. The bath house we used was clean all the time and they have daily garbage pickup at your campsite. Now for the 3 star rating. I was irritated that we couldnt take our gas powered golf cart. Our cart is well lit with mirrors, taillights and headlights. It is also insured to much more than the camp requires. We were told gas carts are not permitted due to noise and pollution which is dumb. The electric carts are not nearly as safe. The first one we rented had something burning on it while charging it so we had to turn it in and we came across a number or other electric carts broken down. People in the golf cart rental center were not very friendly or pleasant. The quiet nature of the electric carts made it dangerous because you cant hear them, we stepped in front of carts speeding behind our camper numerous times because we couldnt hear them. They say you need a valid driver’s license on you to operate, but I witnessed countless minors on carts and they were never reprimanded. Also, rental carts do not have rear view mirrors or tail lights which also made them a hazard to operate. Lastly, keep your doors locked. On out last day at camp, our friends had items stolen out of their vehicle in the evening while we were outside sitting at our campsite. Someone came in the dark, opened the door quickly, grabbed a purse and GPS unit and ran off into the darkness before we could catch them. Security responded eventually and the purse was eventually found with only cash missing. It was still a big hassle and not a comforting feeling knowing people are wandering in the dark trying to steal stuff while most people are sleeping. Were not sure if the thieves were from within the park or if they came from the bar or resort next to the 2000 section camp sites. There is no security into the park from the beach, therefore, anyone can walk along the beach and into the camp. There are only signs at the entrances from the beach which dont seem to keep people from neighboring resorts and bars out. The bar next to the 2000 section sites gets really loud on Friday and Saturdays. If you have children or are looking for a quiet site at night, I wouldnt suggest staying there because we could hear the noise pollution at our site and we stayed in the 3000 section. Ocean Lakes security was very helpful and concerned. Talking to them, it seemed that the neighboring resort has been an issue with the campground for a while, they even recommended for us not to walk on the beach at night because of issues. I would give the campground 5 stars if gas powered golf carts were permitted and if the beach area was somehow more secure and people couldnt just walk into Ocean Lakes Campground off the public beaches. We will more than likely stay here again, but would like to see gas carts permitted, people who don’t obey the rules reprimanded and security between the beach access and the campground.

Just got back from Ocean Lakes, weve been vacationing here for the last eight years up until this year I would have give it a five star rating. This year ocean lakes security was way to harsh. People could not play their radios on their golf carts, more than a whisper, They were confiscating alcohol from adults over the age of 21, who had it out of sight, the adults were not driving, nor were they acting out, in any way. Some of the security staff, were very intimidating,acting as if they had some type of supreme authority. I only wish I had gotten names of these individuals, as I observed this from my golf cart. Now this is coming from a person who does not drink, But respects the rights of others who drink responsibly. May I also add I do not own a golf cart and do not play music on the golf cart, that I rent "from ocean lakes". I come to ocean lakes to get away from the stress of every day life, it nice to go to a place were people are having a good time, While being responsible........ (Second Review) The reason I go to Ocean Lakes is because I feel it is a safe environment. I have two kids and I bring my mother-n-law, the group we go with has two kids as well. Most people camping at ocean lakes is generally respectful and easy going, I have never had one problem with any guest at ocean lakes. So I think you are speaking for a small minority of individuals at ocean lakes when you said youve had many complaints. I have gotten to know many property owners within the years of us coming to ocean lakes. They too have said your policies have gotten a little ridiculous. I believe it reflects with the amount of property for sale within side of ocean lakes.... I think it great to have rules, but its better to have a staff that is easy going and has enough common sense to know when to enforce a rule. There was an older security man down there that wore a hat, he was nice friendly, good with the younger generation. A prime example of what Im talking about. I heard him say to a boy that was walking behind a golf cart, Man I cant let you do that" The boy replied "I know I was just getting something that fell." the older security guard patted the boy on the shoulder and shook his hand.The security man gained a lot of respect from me and the boy that just broke the rule. Do you under stand what Im saying? Now on the south end you had a woman security that had a note book, looking as if she was writing down golf cart numbers, acting as if she was a sergeant in the marine corps. I never once spoke to her but just her appearance and the way she carried herself, made my respect for her leave. Do you understand what Im saying?

Have been going to this campground for over 20 years and Mr. and MRS Jackson are gone no question. I have sent several emails over the last few years and tried to give them a heads up before this feedback. So first let’s start with the facts, what amazing ideas (mastermind) have a 300k house on rented land? Fees are in sane and people flock there. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson built an empire! The first email I sent was the meet and eat and how nasty and disorganized it was? The second email I sent same issue! This visit same thing MEET AND EAT nasty nasty nasty and bunch of kids with NO clue what to do? SUPER CONFUSED? We went to the pool several days and the second day I was on the slide with my daughter, by the way super cool slide and idea! When we left the first day I over heard several people around pool area saying how strict they had gotten?? I happen to see about 8 coolers so I questioned, were they strict or not? The next day my wife was sitting talking to her mom and dad when out of the BLUE a guy (PETE) approaches her and states mam you need to lower your BLOOD PRESSURE and lay back? HERE AT OCEAN LAKES WE LIKE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME? Number one she was caught off guard? HE WAS ALL IN HER FACE AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL? No interdiction of who he was and what his intentions were? I question was he a stalker or was he just not trained correctly? Then I asked to speak to his superior and what a shock? All she did was state how good he was and how he lower rate of problems at pool? OCEAN LAKES IS NOT THE SAME OCEAN LAKES AND IT SHOWS! If you look closely at all the grounds including storage the landscape has fallen off, something Mr. Jackson would have never let happen! Also they will go up and up and up on FEES until people start complaining! Talked to several friends when we returned home and I’m NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS FELT THE “DIFFERENT OCEAN LAKES” one friend said his daughter was riding golf cart playing music and got called down? Her dad says turn music same volume and lets me and you ride back by same guy? And he said nothing? So dad says drop me off go back by same way and guess what?? YES he says something to her AGAIN? Dad was watching. Other buddy gets a $500.00 fine for a renter who rented a golf cart from OCEAN LAKES and ran from security? Remember he rented golf cart from ocean lakes? What are you kidding me? Come on. THIS GUY PETE WAS OUT OF LINE AND I WOULD WATCH HIM IF YOU STAY THERE! HE MAY HAVE OTHER INTENTIONS?
