Mingo is the larger of the two observatories of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh (AAAP). If the sky is cloudy there can be shows in the planetarium. There is seating in the reception area. The northern sky is not as good as Wagmans because of trees and Mingos lower latitude but the southern sky is much better because of the lower latitude, and a lot less light pollution to the south. The teapot of Sagittarius and all of Scorpius were easily viewed. One look through binoculars at Sagittarius brought a plethora of open clusters and nebulae.

This is a great place to go if you love astronomy and would be a unique and fun date. Large telescopes, huge perfectly sloped grassy area. They hold Star Partys a few times a year. Love it! Check out the tree man on the way up!
