Hands down the best selection around! Very friendly and helpful staff! Aquatics They have the largest selection of fish I have ever seen. Tons of fresh and saltwater varieties to choose from, and all of the tanks are clean and all of the fish are healthy. I have yet to see a dead fish in one of their tanks, and I have never seen one with any obvious illness. Huge aquarium selection, medications, decorations and test kits. Some fish are slightly over priced but still within a very reasonable range! They do carry frozen fish foods which I have had trouble finding elsewhere. Small animal While they do have a huge selection of fish, they do not have a huge selection of small animals. They have a kitten room, and one 4 sectional small animal cage. Their small animals were also in very good health. Have small animal supplies such as treats and food and cages. Reptile There is a wall of reptile and spider tanks. All very clean and the animals were healthy. They have tank decorations and bowls for reptiles, not to mention tanks. I am not a reptile owner, so I did not really pay attention to the selection of heaters or humidifiers. I dont think they had as much selection food wise as a big chain like Petco. Birds When I was last there, they offered hand fed youngsters in the larger birds (cockatiel, sun conure), and parakeets. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the cages and how they didnt crowd in their parakeets like some stores. I did notice they carried bird cages, but did not look for much else.

I bought two newts from Wet Pets, and they both died within 12 hours. I went back to get 2 new ones (they were willing to replace the newts) and the same thing happened. I returned once again, after having done more research and realized just how bad the conditions in the tank were. The newts were being kept in the same tank with vampire crabs, who were clearly hurting them, since many newts had open sores. Additionally, newts need a temperature in the low to mid 60s (F), or else they get infections and other sicknesses. The tank was at over 80 degrees. I talked to one of the workers about this, and he told me I was wrong about the temperature. He said hes heard that from a lot of people but actually they should be kept at warmer temperatures. I passed on any more newts there, however I needed to buy live food for the older newt I had at home. When checking out I noticed a chart sitting on the checkout counter listing proper temperatures for many of the animals sold at Wet Pets. Right on that chart it said 65 degrees for newts!!!!! The bottom line is that I will never go there again after this whole thing. I do admit that the aquarium display is very impressive. I do not have any fish from this store, but I would warn everyone to be cautious and to check the conditions of the tank. They seem to know fish very well, but not much about the other animals they sell.

If you are thinking of starting a fresh or saltwater aquarium, or if you have a set-up already you need to check this place out. The only other rival to Wet Pets in this area is Elmers in Monroeville, and both of these locations are on the very top of their game. Staff is professional, very knowledgeable, and all of them have extensive background experience in the hobby. If they dont know the details of something they are not ashamed or afraid to talk to another staff member who can answer the question more effectively. After only a few trips there, they know exactly the set up that Im running and have given me guidance to prevent me from doing things to my tank that in hindsight would have definitely been harmful. Point being - they are not out to make a sale no matter what - the staff has been active advisers in helping me keep my set ups going. Their return policy is very fair and has never left me unhappy. Their showroom is UNRIVALED in this region - exceptionally well done and beautiful. Many hard to find fish are in stock here including a whole section dedicated to Discus! Prices are a few bucks more than what you would spend at a big-box chain, but they have a much wider selection, and the the gear is much higher quality/more researched. I recommend checking them out on a weekday though. The store gets swamped by customers on weekends.

Ive been driving over an hour to get fish from these guys for years. Tank health seems to be a HUGE priority for this store. Better than any other pet store I have ever encountered. I IWSH there was a store closer that could compare as it would save me driving an hour away for a fish but when you think about the time you put into your tank, getting it sick isnt something you want to take into consideration and its worth the drive and extra cost for the fish they sell. To address the people on here saying that their fish died within a few days my guess is there are a LOT of variables that are needed to be met in fish keeping. Water quality, consistency, adjusting to your settings. There is a wealth of info on fish care that makes the hobby a life long learning curve. If you are first starting out and think you can throw a discus in a 10 gallon tank with hard water and drop it in rather than drip acclimate it IT MIGHT VERY WELL DIE in three days at your house. If your tank is BRAND new and hasnt cycled your fish VERY WELL MIGHT DIE in your tank at your house. Just saying my experience with Wet Pets is that they have the absolute healthiest tanks I have ever seen and Ill stand by that when I buy fish from there they leave there healthy.

I have shopped there 4 times, I was so excited to finally get to this store. I think the aquarium display is beautiful, everything I expected from some of the reviews I have read. Very helpful aquarium staff. I am giving them a 3 star mark because every single time that I visited and went to the check out their cashier lady ( long brown hair ) was very abrasive and rude, seemed as though I was bothering her by wanting to purchase the items I bought. Not very friendly like the rest of the staff. The first time I thought " she must have had a bad day" the 2nd time I stopped I realized that is just how she is = rude. She handled the bagged fish that I was purchasing as though they were not alive, very rough. I went 2 more times hoping she wasnt the one checking me out at the counter. They need to have a talk with her and give her a class on customer service. She ruined my experience of the store.

This place is a joke, the fish are quality as well as selection however they are by far overpriced on fish and equipment. The management is family the sons are nice and helpful but the mom and dad that run the shop well they are down right ignorant. A couple of their employees that have worked there for a long time think they are somebody and do absolutely nothing but talk about people while making part time people run around doing everything until the family come in then act like they are the hardest working employee they have..... If you go here ask for Andrew he is by far the most knowledgeable and kind.
