First let me say that I have been going to this store about twice a week for more than the past 6 months. Hopefully this offsets my last 5 star review after seeing what this store is really about. If you catch Rob, the owner, you might get some good advice. Recently there are more and more new people working here. My wife came in to buy a bulb-tip anemone... this is a $50.00 purchase! She asked him to pick a healthy anemone. Ted picked one that was bleached white (which means its expelled all of its zooxanthellae - no longer photosynthetic). He said, "Yeah I dont think its what you are looking for (like if he didnt know what it was) but claimed it was really healthy. Whats more important to the survival of the anemone is that its foot is in tact. This ones foot, Ted had ripped open while prying it off the base. It arrived in its original bag with guts coming out of its foot! Loads of guts everywhere... Ted wouldnt take it back and to make matters worse, he mocked my wife right there in the store! I have spent hundreds of dollars in this place for this?!? What jerks! Dont waste your time. There are plenty of stores that only hire good people. This one hires idiots with attitudes. I thought paying a little more at this store was ok because I was supporting locals. I will certainly not waste another dime at this place! In addition, I have heard dozens of people coming back to complain about dead purchases... complaints going directly to Rob, the owner and being completely ignored. I understand that some people may not be taking proper care of these animals but at least check their water conditions and see if its their fault or not! This is not a good business. Dont support it or you will get burned.

A few months ago my girlfriend and I wanted to start a saltwater tank. We went to local pets stores to look at saltwater tanks. The knowledge of the staff at these stores was sub-par and we didnt find any of them very helpful. Then one day we drove by Exotic Aquatic, stopped in, and after working with the owner and staff, I must say, it was a night and day difference. As we walked in, we both were blown away by the main display tank! Rob, who is the owner of the store, came up to us and asked us if he could help us or answer any questions. We told him we wanted to start a saltwater tank. He took the time to go over what it takes to start a tank, different tank set ups, and gave us an estimate of what it would cost us. He also said that we could get a custom tank built. We decided to get a custom tank and stand...and they both came out great! They were very fast, professional, and courteous during our tank set up. Rob gave us his email and we wrote him very often, asking him questions about sumps, tubing, protein skimmers, etc. He was very patient during the whole process! My girlfriend and I could not be happier with how our tank came out and with the hard work of Rob and his staff! Rob and his staff were very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I believe the price and and selection at Exotic Aquatic was very good. By far, it is the best aquarium store in town! I highly recommend Exotic Aquatic for your aquarium equipment and needs!

Fort lauderdales hidden gem!!! Must see master Jedi Ken. I have been coming to this store for a little over 2 years now. I am an avid reef enthusiast. In the 2 years I have seen a few different people working there, which is not uncommon in retail. I originally use to deal with the owner Rob before he took a step back from doing everything. He was always extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I was discouraged for a while going to the store after rob stop coming due to the lack of knowledge the staff had. At least that was my opinion. Recently they have redone the store and hired new staff. This place kicks ass when it comes to corals And fish selection. By far the best selection of fish and corals are being purchased by the new guru running the show Ken. This guy is the master Jedi when it comes to knowing the fish and corals. Takes lots of time to explain and help you understand things in a whole. I will continue to dump money into my tank and supporting this local business. Thanks exotic aquatic for keeping my window to the ocean stocked!!!

After an extremely "salty" start to my saltwater journey and searching for someone a novice like me could trust and hitting every fish store from WPB to Miami, I always came back to Exotic Aquatic. They have a great new staff ! Congrats guys! You make a great team ! These guys are very knowledgeable and have been very helpful and sincere regarding my MANY needs and times of crises. In particular, Dave has been a huge support and teacher for me. I appreciate the patience and have gained great experience with your help. Rob (the owner) does a bang up job providing a huge selection of the most awesome fish, coral & inverts and he is a walking Aquatic Encyclopedia. If they dont have it, they will get it. If you dont like it, theyll make it right. I highly recommend Exotic Aquatic for your FULL service tropical fish store. Stop by and check out their huge display case that will have you in awe and boost your enthusiasm ! Keep up the great service guys ! Thank you !

I went into this store a few times, and every time I went in, I was ignored and was told inaccurate information by the staff. I was told to email the owner for special orders and never received a response after emailing the guy four times. I looked at the fish in the store and they all had ich and parasites. On my first visit, I spent over $400 and all but one fish I purchased was dead within days. Ive been in the hobby for years and I keep my tank at optimum water quality. Now most of the stores in the area are crap anyway, but I definitely wouldnt reccommend going to this one. The girl there (Im pretty sure her name is Tiffany) yaps your ear off and most of the time I see people getting shocked from obvious bad electrical wiring. BUYERS BEWARE! Exotic Aquatic is the arm pit of fish stores. Ill never go back!

Just left this place. Waited 30 mins for a manager to even talk to me. Which never happened. I setup a small 10Gal tank. Everything for my tank was bought from there store from water to fish to equipment. I purchased a clown fish not even a week ago from them. IT KILLED EVERYTHING IN MY TANK. So they told us to bring the clown back and we were able to get 1/2 refund on the clown even though it killed more than 10 times the cost of the fish that were in the tank with it. The rep behind the counter told me that the clown I bought in had ick seems odd since I got all my fish from them so Im guessing they gave my fish ick. I would have skipped over even leaving a review but to see a manager more interested in BSing with clients and not even knowledging that I was even there. I doubt Ill be coming back here.
